Neither of them spoke as the carriage moved slowly through the gloomy night. Flanked by knights on horseback, their caravan's unhurried pace was set by the other carriage carrying Silver. She had no objections even if the journey never ended.

When she clutched the cape tighter, his hand left her cheek and his thumb hovered over her wrist where the red marks from the rope and fresh scratches throbbed with a dull ache.
