“I mean… he didn’t even put me on the list,” I say as I sit across the booth from Alice in the coffee shop. “He just completely skipped me, like I wasn’t even sitting there.” I pull my straw out of my strawberry frappuccino and stick the end that’s been in the cup into my mouth, sucking the whipped cream off. “Can you believe that?”
It’s nice to be talking to my best friend at the coffeehouse again. It’s been too long, even though it’s only been about a week. After training, I practically begged her to come here with me. I need attention! I need my best friend to listen to me and not just talk about her stupid soul mate.
“That’s incredible,” she says, shaking her head. “What is his problem? It’s like he doesn’t even see your value. You should totally tell him off.”
“I have!” I say, jabbing my straw back through the hole so hard I’m lucky there’s not a hole in the bottom. “He just doesn’t care.”
