Shadow of Vengeance

Keeping Sasha close was a
double-edged sword. She was a liability
and a temptation. Her defiance was
infuriating, yet I couldn't deny the allure
of her spirit.
She was pacing in the small room I'd
confined her to, her movements agitated.
"You can't keep me here forever" she
. snapped.
I leaned against the doorway, watching
her. "I don't intend to. You'll stay until
decide what to do with you."
Her eyes flashed with anger. "I'm not
your pawn, Luca."
I pushed off the wall, closing the
distance between us. "No, you're much
more than that. But don't mistake this
for mercy. I have my reasons for keeping
you alive."
She glared at me, but there was
something else in her something
that mirrored my conflicted
feelings. "And what reasons are those?"
I cupped her chin, forcing her to look up
at me. "You're useful. And maybe, just
maybe, I'm starting to enjoy our little game.
