章節 3: Arc 1: End of the World Cannon Fodder
An hour has passed since then and Feng Yuze found himself standing outside of Kang Fu Yan's office.
Feng Yuze knocked on the door.
"Come in."
Feng Yuze entered the room and looked at the protagonist Kang Fu Yan.
Although Kang Fu Yan was sitting down in a chair, he seemed to be bathed in a golden halo. Kang Fu Yan had blonde hair and red eyes. He looked up from his work document and asked, "Why are you here?"
"I came here to inform you that I have recovered from my fever and I am able to partake in the D-Rank Mission today."
"Okay, we will depart in half an hour." Kang Fu Yan said.
Kang Fu Yan suddenly stood up and walked towards Feng Yuze.
'The protagonist is shorter than me by about five inches.' Feng Yuze thought.
Kang Fu Yan looked up at Feng Yuze and grabbed his black shirt. His gentle aura disappeared and was replaced with a dangerous aura. He glared at Feng Yuze.
"Song Mei Ling told me that she visited you and you made fun of her. Don't ever do that again and stay away from Song Mei Ling." Kang Fu Yan said with a hint of possessiveness leaking through.
"Don't worry, I'm gay." Feng Yuze said calmly.
Kang Fu Yan's eyes widened a fraction momentarily before they returned to normal.
"Good." Kang Fu Yan said.
Feng Yuze nodded and left the room.
At the meet up time, Feng Yuze and the rest of the team members of the Mighty Lion gathered.
The Mighty Lion consisted of a total of 6 members. The leader Kang Fu Yan, the second in command Feng Yuze, Song Mei Ling, Gu Haoyu, Lu Xing, and Fan Jiao.
Kang Fu Yan was a dual ability user with the fire ability and the ability to see the future. Feng Yuze was a lightning ability user. Song Mei Ling was a space ability user. Gu Haoyu was a wood ability user, while Lu Xing was a light ability user. Fan Jiao was an air ability user.
"The plan is to enter the grocery store. Me and Feng Yuze will be in the front to attack while Lu Xing and Song Mei Ling will be right behind us. Gu Haoyu and Fan Jiao will cover up the rear. Lu Xing and Song Mei Ling shall be protected at all costs. They are the most important team members. Lu Xing will heal any injured teammates while Song Mei Ling will store materials with the help of her space ability." Kang Fu Yan announced.
The team members nodded and they departed from the base.
Within 30 minutes, they arrived at the grocery store.
There were 5 zombies near the entrance of the store.
Feng Yuze and Kang Fu Yan quickly killed the zombies and made their way in.
"Aaaah!" Song Mei Ling screamed and everyone turned back to see what happened.
"Sorry, I tripped my own shoelaces and accidentally knocked into the grocery cart." Song Mei Ling said with an embarrassed expression.
"You're bleeding," Kang Fu Yan said in concern as he looked at her scratch arm that was dripping blood.
"It's okay, let's focus on gathering supplies. I'll have Lu Xing heal me later."
"Okay." Kang Fu Yan replied.
After looking for supplies for about 15 minutes, Lu Xing whispered with fear, "Do you hear that?"
They all stopped what they were doing to listen.
They heard growls and roars, and they were getting louder by the second.
The group rushed out from the store.
Gu Haoyu shouted, "Shit, it's a zombie tide! There are at least a thousand zombies coming our way."
Kang Fu Yan looked shocked.
"Why wasn't I able to foresee this?" Kang Fu Yan whispered.
Fan Jiao pushed them back and shouted, "Let's go to the rooftop!"
They ran to the rooftop just in time. Some of the zombies made their way into the open door's of the rooftop building while others surrounded it. They were attracted to Song Mei Ling's blood.
The zombies roared and tried to find the blood source.
"Quick! Heal Song Mei Ling, Lu Xing!" Fan Jiao shouted.
Lu Xing hurriedly healed her and they sighed in relief.
Song Mei Ling wiped her bloody arm with a wet wipe taken from her space.
"Host, it is about time the main characters make their move to sacrifice you in order to save themselves." System 505 suddenly informed him.
"Got it."
Just as he said that, he felt a hard sensation on the back of his head. Kang Fu Yan had smashed the back of his head with a metal bat.
"Sorry Yuze, this is for the survival of everyone." Kang Fu Yan said.
Kang Fu Yan and Song Mei Ling, along with the help of others dragged him over the ledge of the building and pushed him off.
The five teammates glanced at each other as they saw the zombies attracted to Feng Yuze's body.
"Let's go." Kang Fu Yan said coldly.
The team members nodded and with the help of Gu Haoyu's wood ability to make a ladder, they were able to escape from the zombie horde.
Feng Yuze, who was thrown off the building, slowly opened his eyes and groaned in pain.
"What the fuck! That shit hurts like a bitch!" Feng Yuze couldn't help but cuss.
He sat up and he put a hand behind his head. He glanced at his hand that was sticky with blood.
"Host! Host! The zombies are coming. I'm scared!" System 505 cried.
Feng Yuze looked around. He was surrounded by thousands of hungry zombies.
'Well fuck.' Feng Yuze thought.
The rotten stench almost made him throw up, however he held it in.
He had no time to think as in the next second he was bitten by a zombie.
"Wow, I must be the unluckiest person ever. Who would have thought I would get infected with the zombie virus within the first few hours of transmigration. So much for seducing the villain." Feng Yuze muttered as he made a pitiful expression to the System.
System 505 comforted his host.
"Don't worry host! I'll save you! I'll buy the antidote for you with my own money from the system store!" System 505 exclaimed, completely forgetting how he was tricked before by its host.
"How long do I have before turning into a zombie?"
"The complete transformation takes 48 hours."
"Okay then. Save the antidote for later then. Right now we need to focus on getting out of here alive. Do you have a weapon in the System store that I could use?" Feng Yuze asked as he kicked a zombie that was getting too close away from him.
"Yes, there are level 1 weapons such as a wooden stick, baseball bat, steel pipe for 20 points. The higher level weapons such as the gun, dagger, and sword cost more than 200 points."
"That's a huge difference! I only have 1,000 points from the starter pack!" Feng Yuze shouted with anger.
"Sorry host, the prices are set by the Main System, I can't change the prices."
Feng Yuze shook his head and sighed.
"Don't be sad host! You can also use crystal cores to purchase items!"
"Crystal cores?"
"Yes! After a person is turned into a zombie, their brain shrinks to the size of a golf ball and crystallizes. The crystal core can be used to level up and replenish energy. Only zombies have crystal cores. Normal zombies without abilities still have crystal cores but they are not as strong as the crystal cores from ability type zombies."
"Furthermore, the higher the level of the zombie, the more powerful their crystal core is. If you eat a higher level zombie crystal core, you will be able to level up faster than if you eat a lower level crystal core." System 505 informed him.
"That's not too bad. I want to save up some points though. I guess I'll take the steel pipe then." Feng Yuze said.
The long steel pipe appeared out of thin air and appeared in his hands.
"Ding! Steel pipe minus 20 points. Calculating total points...980 total points left!" System 505 exclaimed.
"Now, about the cheat skill... Give me the ability to copy abilities."
System 505 wasted no time and granted him with the ability.
"All host has to do is eat the crystal core of a zombie with abilities. This only works only on zombies, not ability users. I have to warn you, you can only copy up to three abilities at a time."
"Alright, thanks for warning me." Feng Yuze said as smashed a zombie's head in with the steel pipe.
Feng Yuze no longer worried about getting bitten because he knew the System had the antidote so he was just trying to keep his limbs intact.
A level 1 zombie with the metal ability suddenly attacked him.
Feng Yuze dodged and he threw a lightning ball towards the zombie.
"Ding! Level 1 zombie killed! Plus 5 points! Calculating total points...985!"
He dug out the zombie's crystal core and wiped off the blood on his pants.
He then ate the Crystal core and used his copy ability to copy its metal ability.
He felt a surge of energy pass through him.
He gripped the metal tightly and concentrated and imagined a sword.
The steel pipe started to form into a sword and within moments, a sword was created.
Feng Yuze then used his lightning ability and carefully transferred the power to his sword, creating a lightning sword.
With the new lighting sword, Feng Yuze was able to defeat zombies more quickly than before.
However even with the cheat skill, Feng Yuze had a hard time trying not to be overwhelmed fighting so many zombies by himself.
Endless amount of zombies swarmed towards him and Feng Yuze was getting tired.
"Ding! Level 1 zombie killed! Plus 5 points! 56 level 1 zombies killed so far. Calculating total points...1265!" System 505 continued to announce which annoyed Feng Yuze.
Just then Feng Yuze heard a loud barrage of bullets come down and looked towards the source.
On top of a nearby building were about 12 men who opened fire on the zombie tide below.
The man in the middle seemed to be the leader of the group. He said something in his walkie talkie and jumped down from the building.
The man rushed to Feng Yuze's side and as he approached, Feng Yuze got a good look at the mysterious man.
The man was dressed in a military outfit and held a gun in one hand while the other hand was busy shooting ice arrows and killing the zombies that tried to swarm him.
The man stood at 6'5" which was a sharp contrast to Feng Yuze's 6'1" height. He had dark midnight black hair. The man had a devilishly handsome face, his eyebrows were shaped perfectly and he had a pair of attractive blue eyes.
Feng Yuze knew that this man must be Yuan Tianyu. Although in this moment of the plot, Yuan Tianyu is supposed to be in City S, he knew that it is possible that he did not go to City S because he was reborn.
Feng Yuze still asked the system to be sure.
"System, is that Yuan Tianyu?"
System 505 replied with a sharp exclamation, "Yes, that man is the villain, Yuan Tianyu!"
