The door burst open without warning, and I jolted, startled out of the intimate moment. Before I could react, Isabel and Lydia stormed into the room like a whirlwind of energy and concern.
They barely glanced in my direction. Instead, their eyes locked onto Elena, who was sitting up on the couch, looking just as surprised as I was.
"Elena!" Isabel practically yelled, rushing over to her. "Thank god you're awake!" She knelt beside the couch, her hands fluttering around Elena as if she didn't know where to start, inspecting her as though she expected Elena to have fallen apart in the last few hours.
Lydia wasn't far behind, her eyes filled with relief but her usual sarcasm intact. "Honestly, you had us worried sick," she said, standing beside the couch with her arms crossed. "You go unconscious for a bit, and suddenly everyone's freaking out."
