The weeks had flown by since Carmen's unexpected question about marriage. It was a question that had quietly set up camp in my mind, popping up at the most random moments.

At first, I tried to ignore it, brushing it off as a thought I wasn't ready to tackle. But the idea kept creeping in, especially when I caught Carmen doing something sweet or utterly ridiculous that made me fall for her all over again.

Marriage. It sounded heavy, permanent but with her, it also sounded warm, like home. 

I tried to shake off the thoughts as I walked into class that morning. The atmosphere in the room was charged with a mix of excitement and bittersweet anticipation.

There were only two weeks left of modeling school, and it felt like everyone was hyper-aware of the impending goodbye.
