The next morning, I woke up to the sound of someone knocking on my door. Groggily, I pulled myself out of bed and shuffled to the door, opening it to find Zaya standing there with a bright smile.
"You should get ready. You have to get in my jet in two hours," she said.
I remembered then that it was me who had asked Zaya for this favor so I could surprise Carmen by arriving early. A rush of excitement mixed with nerves coursed through me.
"Yeah," I replied, trying to shake off the sleepiness. "Thanks."
I closed the door and turned to face my room, which was now lit by the morning sun streaming through the window. I took a deep breath, feeling the anticipation build. I needed to get ready and make sure I looked perfect for Carmen.
