100% RWBY: A Different Soul (System) / Chapter 11: Struggles With Power And Death

章節 11: Struggles With Power And Death

The morning was the same as always: birds chirping, the sun shining, and the house full of life. Everyone was awake except for a certain farm boy, deep asleep. Perhaps too deep.

Oscar eventually awoke, but not in his bed. He opened his eyes and noticed the ground beneath him was a flawless white instead of his usual grey sheets. Startled, Oscar got up only to realize there was nothing around him but the white ground—a world of nothing, illuminated by sunlight without a visible sun.

"W-where am I?" Oscar said, nervous and scared of his predicament. "Hello, is anyone there?" he yelled, but there was no response.

Oscar felt alone in this strange, empty place, until...

"Finally, you're here," a voice called out from behind him. Oscar jumped, startled, and turned to see who had spoken. To his surprise it was Orion.

"O-Orion, you're here! What happened? Why were you gone?" Oscar asked, relief and curiosity flooding his voice. He quickly added another question, "Wait, I can see you?"

Oscar stared at Orion, actually seeing him for the first time. Orion was a figure shaped like a man, made of swirling red energy.

Orion looked down at himself and then back up at Oscar. "Yeah, I guess this is me now. I still miss my old body, but this is fine. To answer your first question, the mental strain from the fight sent me deep into your mind. I found a way out, and in doing so, I figured out how to create a mindscape so we can talk face to face."

"So this is my mind?" Oscar asked, perplexed. He looked around, realizing he was essentially looking at a part of himself.

"Yup, and up there is our soul," Orion said, pointing above.

Oscar looked up to see a glowing sphere of energy, mostly red with swirling gold.

"Red, but my aura is gold?"

"Well, it's both our auras and souls. The red is me, and the remnants of gold are you."

"Okay, but why is there so much of... well, you?"

"I still don't know. I guess I'm different in a way, probably because I'm from another world. That is most likely the reason. but from what I remember, Ozpin's aura was green, and in the original world, your aura would be too. But it seems my aura pool is way bigger, and our souls seem synced, like their coexisting."

"How do you know this?" Oscar asked, curious about the glowing red man in front of him. Suddenly, a coffee table and two chairs appeared.

"Sit, I'll tell you how," Orion said. Oscar took a seat, and Orion continued. "Since I've been gone, I've been studying our souls. They coexist, red and gold, unlike Original You and Ozpin's which was only green. Our auras are able to be together. I'm not sure how, but they are. I have a theory that since this body is in sync with another soul it can have two auras, then that could also mean we have two semblances."

Oscar listened intently, trying to grasp the implications of Orion's words. "So, does that mean we can have more power or abilities?"

"Yes," Orion replied, leaning forward with a knowing glint in his eyes. "I always wondered how Ozpin still had magic after giving so much of it to the Maidens. He should've been left with just enough to transform into a bird. So, while I was here, I conducted an experiment. I discovered that I could use the native magic of this realm. By syncing with your soul, I unlocked a part of it, allowing you to use magic from Remnant. It seems like there was a lock on your soul, which is why others here can't use magic anymore. The reason probably being the brother gods put them there."

Orion extended his hands, revealing an orb of white swirling energy in one and a pulsating blue light in the other. "The blue light," he began, his voice resonant with authority, "is magic from the System. It's a universal force, omnipresent and immensely powerful, capable of unleashing catastrophic destruction. This magic is fueled by the essence of the cosmos itself—drawing on emotions, thoughts, connections, and the very fabric of reality."

"In contrast," he continued, lifting the hand with the white energy, "this is Soul Magic, a more humble yet profound force. It's magic native to this realm, powered by the essence of individual souls. Soul Magic is deeply personal, harnessing the intrinsic power within each being. While it might seem lesser compared to the vast potential of System Magic, it possesses a unique purity and intimacy. Soul Magic taps into the core of one's being, channeling the raw essence of life itself from the magic flowing around us, like a tool to wield magic. But it's finite"

Oscar seems confused by all this information, "Uh Orion could you dumb it down for me? I'm not sure I follow."

"Oh, sorry about that, I'll dumb it down for you," Orion responded also thinking he should increase INT for Oscar.

Orion's eyes glimmered with a mix of wisdom and excitement as he spoke. "In essence, System Magic is an immensely powerful and infinite force. This is the magic you use for your favorite spells, like Flame Punch. It draws from a boundless source, making it capable of extraordinary feats."

He shifted his focus to the white energy in his other hand. "Soul Magic, on the other hand, acts like a funnel for the magic flowing through Remnant. It channels this energy, allowing you to harness it directly. Soul Magic is intrinsically linked to your aura—the very essence of your being. If your aura is broken, so too is your ability to use Soul Magic. Therefore, Soul Magic can only be used when your aura is intact. Or you could just never use your aura, and no problem not using magic."

Orion Then explained further how one can use this soul magic. "The reason we can tap into this power is because my soul is unique. It unlocked a hidden part of your soul that the Brother Gods had sealed away to prevent the new humanity from using magic, Similar to Ozpin and you in the original universe and Ozpin and his previous reincarnations."

"And one final thing, soul magic isn't linked to the system so we have to learn how to use it on our own." Orion adds, explaining all of his findings.

Oscar nodded slowly, understanding dawning on him. "Either way, This could be a huge advantage."

"Exactly," Orion said, a hint of excitement in his voice. "We need to explore this further and see what we can do. But for now, we should focus on the immediate challenges ahead and how we can best use our combined abilities."

As the white void of the mindscape began to fade, Oscar felt himself returning to consciousness.

As Oscar woke up, he noticed himself floating, surrounded by a golden orb.

"Uh, Orion? What's happening?" Oscar asked, trying to figure out why he was suspended in this luminous sphere.

"That, I'm not sure," Orion replied, his tone reflecting the same confusion.

"This is—" Oscar began to say, but his words turned into a yell as the orb of light popped, sending him plummeting downward. He closed his eyes, bracing for impact with the hard floor, but instead, he landed on something soft. Opening his eyes, he found himself surrounded by pillows made of the same golden light as the orb.

Oscar got up, and the pillows disappeared. "This is weird," he muttered to himself, brushing off the remnants of the glowing light from his clothes.

Oscar walked over to the door and carefully opened it, peeking out to make sure everything else was normal. The house was quiet, and the others were likely still enjoying their morning activities. He stepped out into the hallway, his mind buzzing with questions about the strange experience.

"Orion, do you have any idea what that was?" Oscar asked, hoping for some insight.

"It seems like your aura is reacting to something—perhaps it's you manifesting your semblance," Orion speculated. "The golden light is definitely your aura, so perhaps it is your semblance, so congrats Oscar."

Oscar smiled, feeling a surge of excitement. He finally had a semblance, and whatever this light was, he was glad to have it.

"Oscar, try imagining a sword floating in front of you," Orion suggested.

"Okay," Oscar replied, focusing intently. He imagined a sword in his hand, and suddenly, a blade made of aura materialized, taking on the same golden hue as his aura.

"Looks like you can create aura constructs," Orion acknowledged, his tone filled with admiration. "Nice."

Oscar marveled at the sword in his hand. Now, he could be like the heroes in the stories his aunt used to read to him. He closed his hand, and the blade disappeared. Feeling a mixture of pride and curiosity, he decided to join the others and share his discovery.

As he walked into the living room, Yang took notice of him. "Hey, Oscar! Down for round two?" she asked, pumping her fist in the air with a competitive grin.

Oscar chuckled, shaking his head. "Sorry, Yang, not today. I just want to relax, also I unlocked my semblance" he said, still sore and not eager for another intense sparring session.

"You're no fun," Yang sulked, but her tone was playful. She could tell he needed a break, "But nice kid, what's your semblance?"

Oscar found a seat among Team RNJR, Weiss, and Yang, feeling more at ease. Ruby was the first to speak, eager to know Oscar's newfound semblance. "Oscar! Oscar! whats your semblance!?"

Oscar's eyes lit up as he explained, "I think I can create aura constructs. Watch this." He focused again, and a small golden shield formed in front of him. The group watched in awe.

"That's incredible!" Weiss exclaimed. "I've read about aura constructs, people usually could only do it using rare dust and machines, but I've never seen a person do it without, congrats."

Jaune leaned forward, clearly impressed. "Can you create anything else?"

"I'm not sure yet," Oscar admitted. "I just discovered it this morning. I tried making a sword earlier, and it worked. I guess it's a matter of practice and imagination."

"Well, you've got a lot of potential with that semblance," Ren said, his voice calm but encouraging. "It's versatile and can be incredibly useful in battle."

Nora's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Can you make something fun? Like a giant hammer?"

Oscar laughed. "Maybe, I'll have to try that sometime."

Weiss looked thoughtful. "If you can create constructs, you might be able to develop strategies that complement our fighting styles. We could really use that in our missions."

Yang, despite her earlier disappointment, nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Oscar, your semblance could give us a serious edge to kick some ass."

Ruby beamed at him. "You're going to be amazing, Oscar. We'll help you train and figure out all the possibilities."

Feeling supported and motivated, Oscar felt his apprehensions fade away. "Thanks, everyone. I appreciate it. I'm still getting used to all of this, but I'm excited to see what I can do."

As the conversation continued, the group shared their experiences with aura and semblances, offering tips and anecdotes. Oscar felt a deep sense of belonging and camaraderie. Despite the challenges ahead, he knew he wasn't alone. They were a team, and together, they would face whatever came their way.

While Oscar engaged with his friends, Orion delved deep into the mindscape, immersing himself in the study of their semblances.

It's interesting that both me and Oscar possessed abilities to manipulate, another shared trait. Hell, Oscar even reminds me of a younger me, sometimes.

Orion returned to his study, manipulating the golden energy representing Oscar's aura and the blood symbolizing his own. With a sway of his red hand, he created various golden constructs: floating weapons, buildings, and guns with aura manipulation. From the blood energy, he formed spikes, weapons, armor, and even bolts of condensed blood. The sheer power within their combined abilities was astounding. It felt as though they had been given these powers and the system to fight something maybe to tip the scales.

He decided to check the system for updates and rewards.

**[Main Objective: Look around and find out what the gang is up to and stop them: (1/1)]

[Rewards: {+60 stat points}{+30 levels}{Dane's Footwork}{All of the Gang's money}]

**[Main Objective: Win the sparring match against Yang: (1/1)]

[Rewards: {+35 stat points}{+20 levels}{Yang's fighting style}]**

[1590 Members Of The Verdant Syndicate Killed: +159 Stat Points]

Orion's eyes widened at the sight of the rewards. The influx of stat points and levels was substantial, and the addition of Dane's Footwork and Yang's fighting style would significantly bolster their combat abilities.

Nice rewards And Oscar beat Yang... I think Oscar is ready to be a huntsman. But, now Looking at all those people I killed, it doesn't sit right with me, that's a lot of people... some might have had families...

He began allocating the new stat points, focusing on areas that would enhance both Oscar's and his capabilities:

Satisfied with the new distribution, Orion turned his attention back to Oscar, feeling a surge of guilt. With these new abilities.

I used them in Oscar's body to kill all those people, I put blood on Oscar's hands... i-im so sorry... Oscar...

Back in the real world, Oscar felt a sudden rush of energy and focus. It was as if a veil had been lifted, and he could sense the potential within him more clearly than ever.

"Hey, Oscar, you okay?" Jaune asked, noticing the shift in his demeanor.

Oscar nodded a confident smile on his face. "Yeah, I'm great. I feel... stronger."

"Good," Ren said approvingly. "We'll need all the strength we can get for what's coming."

"Definitely," Weiss added. "With the new abilities you've shown, we have a real chance to make a difference."

Ruby beamed at him, her enthusiasm infectious. "We'll train together and get even better! We can handle anything that comes our way."

Oscar felt the support of his friends and the power of his new abilities. He knew that with Orion's guidance and the strength of his team, they were ready for whatever lay ahead.

Suddenly, Qrow walked into the room, his usual air of seriousness more pronounced. "Leo called. He wants to meet us at the academy. Grab your gear and be on your guard," he instructed, taking a swig from his flask. He then headed toward the front door, waiting for everyone to gather.

Oscar felt the weight of Qrow's words. As he packed his gear, the room buzzing with activity as everyone prepared, he felt a newfound strength coursing through him, yet his mind was eerily quiet. Orion, who had been a constant presence in his thoughts, was silent, leaving Oscar to navigate his emotions and thoughts alone.
