This was perhaps Blake's most confusing day of her life. First she almost confessed her past to some stranger she just met even though she didn't tell anything to her teammates that she was supposed to spend years with.
Then Nephrite, a friend of hers that she didn't have a deep impression of, except that one time she'd seen the might of one of his weapons had casually strolled into the shop they were in and dropped a bombshell at her.
Her worldview was also opened before, all she thought of was the humans that had thrown their kind into an abandoned island.
Now that was about to change, she wasn't dumb and knew that Menagerie housed quite a number of resources but what are those good for when they can't be used?
But his proposition had changed all of that, like a key that opened a world of possibilities.
She was really eager to tell her parents but then she realised something. She had abandoned them years ago, left them without any means of communications.
"Even if everything you are saying is true, I don't think I am the right person you should tell this to. My parents probably hate me for leaving them..." She said not daring to even meet Nephrite's nor Sun's eyes.
"You think? Well, what do you think about meeting your parents to prove your theory wrong?" Said Nephrite as he typed something in his scroll before hers scroll received a notification.
Blake didn't really know what to say and took out her scroll.
"Mission?!" She almost jumped from her seat when she read her notification.
The mission was an escort one that shouldn't have been available for first years at all.
(A/N: Beacon missions will have these brackets {} so they are not confused with the system)
{Mission: Escort Faunus scientists and Mr. Nephrite Anteaus to Menagerie}
{Participants: Team RWBY, Team NNPR}
"What do you think, neat right? You can even prove Weiss wrong by showing off the true culture of Faunus." Nephrite finished his coffee and looked at the dazed Blake.
"I...is it really possible to change Menagerie?" She looked at him.
"It is, Sun wanna tag along?" Nephrite nonchalantly said and invited Sun to tag along with them.
Now it was Sun's turn to be stunned but he shrugged it off pretty quickly.
"Sure why not? I haven't been to Menagerie yet."
"Alright then, let's go. Blake still needs to explain some things to her team." Nephrite stood up and basically dragged both Blake and Sun away.
Soon they had met up with Ruby, Yang and Weiss but before they could talk it out properly or address the mission they had suddenly received Nephrite cut them off.
"Ladies I am sure you have many questions that need to be answered but all of this should be discussed at Beacon and not in public. After all Blake has a story to tell." They wanted to ask many questions but in the end waited before getting to their dorm.
After getting to Beacon they had separated and team RWBY went into their dorm. Meanwhile Nephrite took Sun to show him his temporary dorm before meeting the rest of team NNPR.
They needed answers as well.
...
"You mean we are going on a world saving mission to the mysterious Menagerie where only Faunus are said to be allowed?! Are we going to sneak in like ninjas?!"
"Yes Nora we are going to a continent purely dominated by Faunus. And no Nora we have an official diplomatic permit, to soften the relationships with Faunus a bit more Beacon and the other 3 academies can send their representative students to take on missions."
Pyrrha and Ren sat there on the bed a bit dumbfounded at this sudden mission as Nora was basically bolting around the room.
They weren't against it, Pyrrha was curious as to how Menagerie looks like and Ren basically agrees to everything that isn't detrimental and has Nora in it.
And how could Nora miss such an opportunity?
Nephrite briefed and gave them more details before leaving their dorm to see his neighbours.
*Knock *Knock
"Come in!" Ruby's voice sounded from inside.
Nephrite entered and saw the ever so iconic bunk beds with girls standing in between them.
"So, have you sorted everything out?"
"Kind of? Thank you Nephrite for finding Blake and helping our team." Ruby thanked him.
"I always help my friends in need don't worry. Now though it's time for me to tell you the details of our mission." Nephrite then re-explained everything once again.
"Sooo you casually invented a world breaking technology?" Yang said in disbelief.
"Well, technically it took me many years and help of many scientists but yeah..." He replied and scratched his head.
"So are you guys ready?" The girls nodded and chased Nephrite out as they were getting ready for tomorrow, it was getting dark after all.
The next day was quite sunny a perfect day to go on a mission that would change the world.
Nephrite met with the Faunus scientists and they were quite ecstatic, as professionals in their fields this amalgamation of everything they specialised in they could see that it wasn't totally made up.
After seeing the simulation they were even more excited.
...
The bullhead was ready and it would take them to Anima through which they would get to Menagerie.
The bullhead was a special type of bullhead that was specifically designed for long distance travel. It was very fast and stable type of aircraft that Huntsmen or Huntresses usually used when they travelled on Emergency or Long distance missions.
It had it's drawbacks though, it couldn't transport heavy objects and had light armour making it an easy target without the support of Huntsmen or Huntresses.
They journey itself was quite smooth and they had seen beautiful scenery along the way.
They flew above the Emerald Forest, it's seemingly infinite stretch was quite a sight. Next they flew by the mountain range before seeing a beautiful ocean not long after.
And a few days later they had arrived in Anima. They sometimes stopped at nearby settlements to resupply in case of emergencies and gradually neared Menagerie.
Even though the bullhead was really fast it still took almost 2 weeks of travelling before they had seen the shores of Menagerie.
The pilot's radio activated.
"Unidentified bullhead please land immediately otherwise aggression will be used." A woman's voice sounded from the other side.
The pilot was used to this as he usually travelled with students from Beacon to Menagerie.
This was a means of self-protection as various types of people try to imitate the schools to infiltrate Menagerie just to wreak havoc.
The pilot quickly answered and the woman's voice mellowed a bit as she had recognized it.
Soon enough they landed and were greeted by Faunus. They had created two rows that stood across each other and the one in middle was...
"Allow me to introduce myself I am the lieutenant of the White Fang's Menagerie branch, we are in charge of defence welcome. My name is Leuci." It was a woman with a tail that was white with black stripes.
Most of the guards were stoic but some grimaced and even showed a brief flash of hostility before controlling themselves.
"I am pretty sure this isn't the time for students of the Academies to be here yet, so why are you here for?" She got straight to the point without wasting time.
"We are here to talk with your chieftain, I am sure you recognise who she is right?" Nephrite stepped aside to reveal Blake without her bow that she had taken off. It was bit uncomfortable being around others without it but during the two weeks she got used to it.
When Leuci saw Blake her back straightened up and she saluted.
"I greet Chieftain's daughter, I apologise for my tardiness."
'Seems like their name still resounds very strongly...' Nephrite mused to himself. Blake rigidly dismissed her before showing others around. She was getting more and more nervous but she was already here.
Eventually they made it to Blake's home and she nervously stopped before it.
"Come on Blake don't be such a scaredy-cat!" Yang's joke rid her of her anxiousness to a degree and she finally 'Knocked' on the door.
*Boom
A loud booming sound had sounded and soon after a person opened the door. It was Kali Belladonna, Chieftain's wife and Blake's mother.
"Yes?" She opened the door to see Blake nervously standing there...
"Blake?" Kali hurriedly hugged her daughter when she saw her.
"Kali? Who is it?" Soon after Ghira made his appearance. He was a tall man with seemingly perfect composure but when he saw his daughter he lost it in an instant.
"Hey dad, mom I'm back." Blake said as she broke away from her mother's hug. The familiar warmth had almost overwhelmed her but she still had her friends' to introduce.
"Mom, dad this is my team in Beacon, it's called RWBY with Ruby Rose as our leader this is..." Blake slowly introduced everyone.
"Pleasure to meet you." Nephrite politely introduced himself along with everyone else.
Blake's parents wanted to catch up but they had realised that they wouldn't be here without a reason.
"Nice to meet you all please come in." Kali had invited them in and soon after the teams were sitting in a long table together with Blake's parents.
The scientists' had their own families and friends in Menagerie and Nephrite let them go for today.
"Mr. Nephrite I am grateful that you brought my daughter home but please tell what is your purpose here?" Ghira assumed his serious expression.
"You see Mr. Ghira the thing is... ... ... And for that I would need your full cooperation."
"This sounds too good to be true. What's the price?" Ghira got straight to the point, nothing was free much less ground breaking technology.
"You see Mr. Ghira I am here to improve the relationship between humans and faunus but I also need something. " Nephrite pulled out a map of Remnant and pointed at an island that was right next to Menagerie.
"What would you need this island for?"
"As you may know this world is far from peaceful and Grimm are growing day by day whilst humans fight with faunus creating strife and most importantly negative emotions. I wish to create a truly neutral place where people are truly equal and united to deal with our real threat. The Grimm." Nephrite slowly explained his plans.
He planned to create a council that would not be influenced by politics. Everyone who would join this council as a figurehead would abandon their political power.
A gathering of elites, no matter the race just to fight against Grimm. For now he wished for the leaders to consist of 3 Faunus and 3 Humans. This system was far from perfect and was susceptible to corruption but it was a start.
As long as he was alive he wished to perfect this system to eliminate the potential for corruption as much as possible.
The power structure itself would be based purely on skill and contribution and only skilled huntsmen and huntresses should be able to officially join it.
"It might be possible but first I need to talk with some people to see if they agree but even if they won't I will push for this." Ghira in the end agreed.
Unless one was a mad fanatic that would want to just murder humans they would agree to this.
The organisation itself would never accept Human murderers of Faunus but also Faunus that murdered humans. Unity was a key and one of it's core principles.
Ozpin himself had created something similar but it was limited. He didn't have a catalyst that could earn the trust of Faunus and was politically tied by the Vale's council.
Nephrite on the other hand had yet to stick his hand in the bloody whirlpool that is politics.
After they finished their talks Kali talked with Blake and both teams, soon the atmosphere mellowed out and they talked about their life in the Academy.
Nora's superhuman metabolism, Yang's bad puns, their classes and classmates, other friends they made at Beacon.
Thankfully Sun was one adaptive monkey and he nonchalantly wormed himself into the conversation. Others didn't trust Sun that much not even Blake but with Nephrite's guarantee they gave him a chance.
Creation is hard, cheer me up!
