Theo's wolf approached me, emotions swirling in the depths of its chestnut eyes. My heart began to throb, my eyes welling up with the pain of rejection that had been inflicted on me a few days ago. Despite it all, I still yearned for him, to be close and inhale his scent. I couldn't easily move on; we had grown up together, and he had shielded me from insults and discrimination throughout my life.

As I reached out to touch Theo's fur, a ginger wolf suddenly burst into view, coming directly beside Theo. I instantly recognized it as Fenrir.

"Theo," I whispered, stroking his head, and he let out a whine.

"Fenrir, what are you doing here?" I asked. The fact that Theo and Fenrir had left our pack's borders just to look for me sent warmth racing through my heart.
