Volkner always played alone, and deliberately avoided hunting grounds frequented by other players. He had never participated in any siege battles and had always ignored even trivial disputes. But with such a character, rumors abounded about him.
The Krakens and Dragons that were considered unbeatable on their own, even the highest level hunting ground, Jyx was known to circumvent and conquer them alone. Keeping it to himself didn't mean others had never heard of him. For the remaining players still playing Continent of Magic, he had already become a legend. The only one oblivious to the fact was Volkner himself.
"So all this gear is real game content?"
"So this is an absolute bargain...!"
The initial bid for the auction was just 5,000. The value of the in-game currency itself, excluding the character and equipment, was already so far from the market value that it made no sense.
There was a sudden wave of bidding. 250k, 500k, out of 700k, the bid increased exponentially in the blink of an eye. Not even an hour passed before it crossed the million mark. Since selling just one of the pieces of equipment would pay the current bid, there was no need to hesitate.
The bids started to go up. But even at this point, there were many who watched in desperation, and still many who had not yet participated in the bidding as they tried to estimate when the auction would reach its maximum bid.
Although the number of Continent of Magic players has dwindled over time, there were still some who continued to play as the servers were unified and the game became free-to-play. So, at first, it was the Magic Continent players who raised the bid.
But soon after, the rich men of the company started bidding as well. Because at one point in Korea, the Continent of Magic was the main cause of sleep deprivation. Acquiring a max-level character for such a game was the same as acquiring a priceless antique to brag about.
Among the astute bidders, they quickly summoned their superiors.
"Is this Mr. Lee Sanim?"
- Why are you calling in the middle of the night? Do you want to be fired?
"Eh?! Sir, don't worry about it... Did you play in the Continent of Magic before?
- So I did.
"A max-level character from that Continent of Magic was listed for auction today. I thought this was something you had to know..."
- What?!? Do you mean Us, Jyx?
"Yes. I see you already know about him. His character level is 200 with everything maxed out and his equipment is…."
- Knife. For now, launch about 3 million from your own account. I'll be heading home right away to check it out, so bid now!
Some of the people who held key positions in companies were part of the generation that played online games when they were younger. They took the bidding to a new level.
The most trending post on gaming sites and other major web portals was about the max level character auction in the Continent of Magic. Searches on this topic began to avalanche as people began exploring the topic, and it soon became the number one searched term.
The prelude was over, now it was time for the real auction to begin.
While all this was going on, Volkner had no idea what was going on around him, still asleep. "Manual work... 50 a day. Washing dishes... 60. Newspaper delivery, milk delivery... rice for dinner..." Like someone who suffers from sleepwalking, he organized his day during sleep.
