Boarding the Hogwarts Express, Cedric, the twins and Art found a compartment together. They talked about how they were excited for summer now that they were animagi. Art agreed but warned that not to get caught, unregistered animagus were against the law. They rolled their eyes at Art, he had been saying that for months.
Finally they arrived at King's Cross and unboarded the train. Art gave the twins and Cedric a hug, telling him that he would see them next year. Soon Art saw his parents and smiled, giving them a large hug. Soon they were back at home where Artland felt relaxed. Unloading his bag, he changed into muggle clothes and came down stairs. Tim was sitting at the table looking a papers which Art found strange.
"What's this?"
"I got a job at an Army Academy as a teacher. Unfortunately that means grading papers." Tim said, still reading the paper.
"Congrats." Art said, smiling at Tim.
"Well I need a break. Let's go." Tim said, standing up and heading outside.
Following him outside, Art warned Tim, "I have gotten much stronger and quicker this last year."
Tim nodded his head and took his stance. Art smiled and decided to hold back his strength and try to beat him with pure technique.
That was a mistake.
Even with Art's reaction time, he still got his ass kicked by Tim. I guess that was experience does. A week went by and Art would read and spar with Tim everyday and at night he would shift into his Thunderbird and fly high in the sky. Art loved the feeling and even created a small storm. Art noticed that his feathers changed colour when flying through a storm from white to azure.
Art told his parents that he would be spending most of the summer with a famous wizard learning about magical beasts. He told them that he would join them for two weeks in France at his grandparents. Though they were upset that Art wouldn't be spending the summer with them, they were happy that he was doing so well in school and got to learn from an expert.
Amelia came over a few days later and told them what Art had already said. She added that Art would be learning from Newt Scamader, a very famous and establish wizard. Amelia told them she would bring him to France herself at the end of the summer.
Packing his bag, Art hugged his parents and followed Amelia out of the house where she told him to grab her hand. Listening to her, he grabbed her hand, he then heard a large crack and felt his body being squeezed through a tube. It was suddenly over and Art felt like throwing up.
"It's alright. Everyone feels like that after their first time Apparating." she consoled.
Looking around, Art saw an empty countryside with no buildings. "Where are we?"
"Dorset." Amelia said looking around for something. Her eyes lit up with she saw an old boot that was half buried in dirt.
Walking over to the boot, she looked at art and said. "Behave yourself. Mr. Scamader is someone the Ministry respects. Now grab the boot."
Art promised he would and grabbed the boot. He suddenly felt like he was falling and crashed into the hard ground. Spitting out some grass he looked around and saw a small house that looked out of place. Art heard some hissing and growling and turned around to see three Kneazles coming toward him.
"Sounds like the prodigy is here." Newt said placing his tea down and walking towards the door.
"Be nice Newt." Tina chastsized. "Hurry before the Kneazles scare him."
Newt and Tina opened their door and saw a dark haired boy with bright golden eyes rolling around and laughing with the Kneazles. The boy saw Newt and Tina and quickly stood up, brushing himself off. The Kneazles pawed at his leg, wanting to play more but he shooed her away.
"Mr. and Mrs. Scamader, an honour to meet you. I'm Artland Cason and I will be apprenticing under you this summer." Art said politely, clear excitement was written on his face.
Tina looked at the boy and then back to Newt. She patted Newt's back and whispered in his ear, "Told you Dumbledore wouldn't stick with you with a fool." she then talked to Art, "Welcome to our home. Come inside quickly and have some tea."
Art thanked her and entered the house, the Kneazles following him closely. Sitting at the table, one of the Kneazles jumped on his lap causing him to laugh.
"Tilly get down!" Newt said, a scowl on his face.
"It's fine Mr. Scamader. She is beautiful." Art said, running his hand through her fur.
Tilly gave a slight meow and looked at Newt mockingly, causing Art to laugh loudly, "Be nice." he said at the Kneazle.
"Cocky little thing…" Newt said looking at Tilly. He then looked at Art and asked, "What do you expect from working here this summer?"
"What do I expect?" Art repeated confused. "I guess to meet magical creatures and learn how to take care of them."
"What interests you about magical beasts?" Newt asked, taking a sip of his tea.
"Everything. The way the socialize to what we need to do to protect them. My interests in magical beasts is endless."
"Dumbledore says you are a very skilled wizard for your age. Why not focus on magic instead?" Newt continued to drill him.
"Who says I am not? My magic is far ahead of my peers and it isn't slowing down. I'm not a person who can only focus on one thing at a time."
Newt seemed to be out of questions as he stirred his tea without looking at Artland. Tina smiled and pointed at the Kneazle in his lap, "You seem to be good with animals. Tilly is usually picky."
"It's an ability I have madam, I can understand animals perfectly and they can understand me." Art said, petting Tilly.
"Newt has it too. That is why Dumbledore wanted you to work here this summer." Tina said with a smile, looking at her husband.
Artland knew that wasn't the only reason but chose not to say anything.
"My ability is weaker than yours. Yours should be the true Beast Speech ability." Newt murmurmed.
"Newt, will you show Mr. Cason where he is sleeping and working?" Tina said, waking her husband out of his daydream.
Newt nodded and told Art to follow him. He lead him to a small room where he said he could sleep. Art threw his bag on the bed and followed Newt downstairs where Art's jaw dropped. The basement was huge, bigger than hogwarts with different terrains and environments. Artland saw creatures that he had never seen before. His eyes went from beast to beast, trying to take it all in at once.
"You will be taking care of these beasts. They need to be fed and groomed daily, plus some need some special care." Newt said walking through the beasts.
Suddenly a giant leopard looking beast roared and watched Newt and Art closely.
"A Nundu… arguably the most dangerous beasts in the world, capable of wiping out entire villages with its breath." though what Art said was terrifying, the smile on his face couldn't be bigger.
Newt stepped in front of him to stop the Nundu from attacking Art but he stepped around Newt and walked toward Nundu with his hand out. The Nundu growled and puffs of poisonous smoke came from its mouth. Art didn't falter and sent his thoughts towards the Nundu. Newt had slowly took out his wand and was waiting for something to go wrong and save Art. Much to Newt's surprise the Nundu laid down on his belly and let Art pet it.
"What an amazing girl you are." Art said, scratching behind her ear.
Newt walked up next to Art and said, "Her name is Nikki, I found her in chained in Russia."
Newt introduced him to many beasts, some rare and uncommon and other Art had never heard of. Newt wrote down what Art had to do each day and what each beast ate and what time. Art listened closely and made sure to get everything right. Newt left him down there while Art walked around, discovering more and more beasts.
"How is he doing?" Tina asked, seeing Newt come from the basement.
"Good. Very skilled." Newt said, not elaborating.
"You think leaving him down there is smart?" Tina asked.
"He already charmed Nikki. There is nothing more dangerous than her." he said, trying not to sound impressed.
"Looks like he is skilled." she said with a smirk.
"Better be after all the talk Dumbledore did about the child." Newt said, taking a bite from an apple.
The next few days, Art hardly left the basement, only to eat and sleep. He immersed himself in the beasts forged bonds with all of them. Newt didn't have a Thunderbird or a Wampus much to Art's disappointment as he wanted to try and understand their abilities better.
Newt came down and saw that Art was walking a little stiff.
"What's wrong?" he asked, frowning. Art was great with all the beasts and he didn't believe that one of them would attack him.
"Oh nothing Mr. Scamader, just Dougal is acting like a bit of a child." Art smiled, looking upward. Suddenly an ape looking creature with silvery fur appeared on his shoulders. It was a Demiguise called Dougal, they had the ability to turn invisible.
"If Dougal is here, then who is looking after the Occamys?"
Art rolled up his sleeves, showing small snake like beasts with wings wrapped around his arms, sleeping. "They sorta attached themselves to me." a sheepish grin appeared on Art's face.
Newt stared at Artland for a moment before a smile appeared on his face.
'This boy… truly is gifted. I don't think Dumbledore has to worry about him. Beasts are the best judge of characters.' Newt thought, looking at Art who was stopping a fight between two Occamys.
