Kayla's POV
"Mom! Your phone is ringing!" Daisy ran into the kitchen, holding my phone in her hands.
"Thank you, sweetie." I turned off the gas stove and took the phone from Daisy. I noticed an unfamiliar number on the screen.
"Hello?"
"It's me, Luisa. Listen, I have something very important to tell you."
"I don't have anything to say to you," I responded with a cold huff, ready to hang up the call.
But it was clear that she anticipated my reaction. Before I could end the call, Luisa shouted at the speaker.
"Don't you want to know the truth about your mother's death?"
"What did you say?"
"You heard me," Luisa's tone calmed. "If you're still interested in that past, come to the forest of The Dark Night Pack."
"What if I refuse?"
I tried to keep my voice as steady as possible, but my fingers gripping the phone had already turned white from the pressure.
"Then the truth about this matter will forever remain buried in lies. You have only one chance, Kayla."
