Chapter 119
Selena's POV
After I said that, I thought I would feel a little bit more relaxed, but I didn't. Instead, a sharp pain came out of my spine, and it spread all over my limbs. It was a strong irritant to my nerves.
I felt as if there were a million needles in my body. Even my heart began to ache. Tears followed waves of pain as I bent over and tried to hold my body with my hands.
I tried to comfort myself with this action, but as soon as I leaned forward, a fishy, sweet smell came out of my throat, and before I could react, I started to vomit, and what I spit out was, unexpectedly, a big mouth of blood!
Shocking red blood fell on the light carpet, like blood-colored flowers blooming on the carpet.
“Oh my God！”
I heard Billy screaming from behind me, and a woman screaming, but I was in too much pain to see their reaction.
I vomited blood several times, and then I couldn't hold myself up any longer. My knees went weak, I fell onto the red carpet.
"Luna!" I heard Billy calling me, and I heard him take two steps forward, as if he was trying to help me, but he was afraid to touch me, and then I heard him say, "Madelyn, are you scared out of your mind? Stop staring, come and help Luna!"
Billy touched me a couple of times, and then I heard Madelyn come running over. She was crouching beside me, holding my arm so I wouldn't fall.
Madelyn held me, but she wasn't strong enough to support me, and within seconds, I was spitting blood again. This time Madelyn didn't succeed in holding me up.
I was about to fall to the ground, and the next thing I knew, my shoulder was being squeezed from behind, and the hands were big and strong, and Billy was holding me.
"Madelyn! What's the matter with you? You've got to hold Luna!"
I struggled to get up and looked in Madelyn's direction. She was so scared, and she patted herself twice after Billy reminded her. The sound was so loud.
After patting herself twice, Madelyn seemed to come to her senses. She put her arm around me again, and after making sure Madelyn was holding me steady, Billy quickly released his grip on my shoulder.
With Madelyn's help, I managed to catch my breath, and when I calmed down a little, I could finally sense what was wrong with my heart. Claire was wailing inside me. It was far worse than the day I married and the day I lost my child, and the shrill howl made my heart tighten, and the pain was unbearable.
I had to give up my fated mate, and it hit Claire so hard that no matter how I tried to talk to her, she refused to listen to me, and she just kept banging against the wall of my heart. Each impact was very painful for her. But the pain was nothing compared to the pain I felt when I decided to give up my mate.
As I tried to calm Claire, I suddenly heard a strange sound in front of me. It was a sob that contained extreme pain. Madelyn and I looked down at the source of the sound. It was Charles who made the noise.
Charles's expression was so pained that he put his hands on his chest and knelt down in a very awkward position. Large tears rolled down his cheeks. Each tear was evidence of the pain he was feeling.
I had never seen Charles cry, and for a moment, I watched as he fell to his knees, unable to imagine that he was in such pain that he cried in public.
Suddenly, countless rose petals and heart-shaped balloons fell from the ceiling overhead, filling the room with the scent of roses.
I realise this is Charles's "surprise" for me, but now it seemed meaningless, even ironic.
“Selena, Why?” Charles looked up in the rain of petals, his teeth clenched in pain. But the tears still welled up on his cheeks. “I love you, Selena. You're the love of my life. I've never done anything to you. Why don't you believe me? Why are you doing this to me?”
Charles's questioning was loud, and each word was full of pain and struggle. Seeing him in extreme pain, I felt my body hurt even more. Claire must have sensed Charles's wolf, and now she was scarred like my broken heart.
"Alpha, Please stop!" Billy was stunned by Charles's pain. He froze for a few seconds, then rushed over to hold Charles. He turned to me and said, "Luna, I swear to the moon goddess that Alpha has never betrayed you. Why don't you trust him? Alpha loves you with all his heart!"
Billy usually defended Charles like this. But right now, Charles's pain is so intense that even Madelyn can't speak for me.
There was a terrible silence in the ballroom, except for Charles's sobbing. My heart hurt, too, but I tried to bite my lip, not letting the sad, weak voice reveal my true condition.
"Selena, are you feeling better now?" After some time, Madelyn calmed down when I stopped vomiting blood. "Can you walk? Do you want me to help you get back to the bedroom to rest?" She asked.
Although Madelyn's voice seemed to calm down, her body was shaking. I could feel her deep pain and struggle. What happened today should have been a great shock to her.
Charles was raised to be pack's alpha of the future, and he always showed himself to be strong. Even if Madelyn were Charles's cousin, she would never have seen him cry in such a weak way. It is natural that she would be frightened by Charles's behavior.
"I can handle it," I said to Madelyn, taking a deep breath. "I can't walk right now. Madelyn, would you please go to the guest room on the second floor and find Nyx?"
After Nyx promised to take me out of the Black Valley pack a few days ago, she went to Vanessa and said she wanted to stay in the pack for a few more days. Vanessa arranged a guest room for Nyx, which was not far from my bedroom. Nyx and I see each other every day.
Madelyn let go of her hand a little, and after making sure my body wouldn't fall to the ground without help, she let go of me completely. "Okay, hold on. I'm going to find her right now!" She said.
After Madelyn left, nothing stood between Charles and me. When I looked up, I could see his eyes full of pain. The pain was too deep and too painful for me to look into, so I immediately turned away and refused to look into his eyes.
Charles was hurt by my resistance. He coughed hard, and after a while, he spat out blood. The blood that we both vomited was all over the carpet, and the large splatter of blood looked horrifying.
"Charles, you're hurt!" After seeing Charles vomit blood, Penelope, who had been standing still, finally reacted and tried to reach for Charles, but Charles said "F.uck off" to her, keep Penelope away completely.
Penelope looks confused and hurt. She glances at Billy, who is still holding Charles. "I'll call the doctor right away!"
Penelope ran out of the ballroom. After she left, my attention was drawn back to Claire's. After so long, Claire was dying, and it felt like she was going to die at any moment.
Claire's current state has had a serious effect on me, and I feel a very severe bout of dizziness. The next second, I finally could not hold on. I closed my eyes and fainted on the carpet.
