“I’m a very rich man. If it didn’t work out, I could pay for your room and board in advance.” Rémy stopped at the bottom step.

“I won’t be a kept boy—” Ian’s temper was beginning to rear its head.

“There is no sex involved in this offer. I’d like to be able to continue to court you. My people don’t have actual sex until marriage. I can guarantee that I won’t push you. But I’ll push for a deeper relationship that could lead to marriage, not sex,” Rémy replied calmly although his insides were churning.

“I can’t take the chance that…”

“I’ll put it in writing, a contract. You can have a lawyer read it over. If things don’t work out, I’ll pay both your tuition and for a decent apartment near school. From the house in Brooklyn, NYU is only three and a half miles, sixteen minutes. You could take the subway, or Luc could drive you.”

“You’re confusing me. I can’t figure out why you’re doing all of this, and that makes me very nervous.” Ian turned to face Rémy.
