章節 39: Magic
Everyone in the circle looked at one another. It was Doctor Jung who had the nerve to ask the royalties. "Well, Princess, how do you plan on sleeping tonight?"
Tianshi Xue snapped her head at him. "I don't have plans on sleeping tonight. I already slept for a few hours, I could last a few more days on it."
It looked like the Doctor was about to counter it but it was the Prince who cut him off. "Leave her be, Doctor. If she has no plans on sleeping tonight then that's on her."
She only sent a smile to the prince's way. "Speaking of, I am already done with my breakfast. You men go monkey around."
She left the circle, leaving an irritated prince. He was just about to say something unpleasant when Bolin spoke. "I think we really should make the princess a better bathroom."
Feng seconded the thought. Aiguo said nothing.
"Fine," the prince answered. "But I'm staying here. Get all the things that you need. I'll stay in camp."

It was almost sundown when Bolin and Feng finished cutting up bamboo and tying it with bagging. The prince surveyed the makeshift bathroom and nodded. "You should have made our bathroom this good," was his only comment before stepping out of the small and narrow room.
Tianshi Xue was surprised that she actually got her own bathroom. There was a small hole with a bamboo outline. "What did you put under here?"
"Magic," answered Bolin. "You don't have to know, Your Highness. It's not something that a princess should know."
Tianshi Xue said, "Ah," she smiled.
Bolin smiled too, thankful that the princess did not ask again. He would've hate to tell her that there were worms in the compost. He was afraid that she would not want to use if she knew that there were slimy things that could possibly make its way to her bottoms.
"Do you like it?" Feng asked proudly.
"I do," she nodded. "I didn't really think that you would make me a new bathroom."
"Of course we would!" answered both soldiers with nervous laughter.
Tianshi Xue walked out of the bathroom, feeling confident that she would be finally able to release whatever it was in her stomach. She had been in pain since the afternoon but she didn't want to use the bathroom as soon as it was done.
She was just going to hold it a few more.
Bolin snuck up just a foot behind her, rubbing his tired hands. "Your Highness, if you don't mind me asking, are you going to use the prince as a pillow tonight?"
Tianshi Xue laughed as she walked. "I don't think so."
"Are you really feeling that well already?"
She nodded her head. "I think I'll be able to make myself fall asleep now."
Feng was the next to ask her. "But if you would not be able to fall asleep, are you going to call on the prince?"
Tianshi Xue almost glared at the two soldiers. She had been happy with them because of the bathroom but now she just wanted to take that away too.
But when she spun on her heels and their hopeful gazes met hers, she could not help but soften a little. They reminded her so much of her avid fans who looked at her like she was the one who made the sky blue.
So she smiled and nodded. "I will definitely call on the prince."
The two smiled wider and ushered her to dinner.

After dinner, Tianshi Xue put her plate on the pile in the small table setup. She was just about to leave when the prince was suddenly behind her.
"What did you tell those two?" the prince whispered to her as he placed his plate next to hers.
It was like her skin started burning at his proximity. The bad thing about this was that her skin was burning in a good way. "I just told them that I would call you if I'm not going to be able to fall asleep."
The prince sighed. "What were you talking about at breakfast?"
"Why?" she asked, tucking hair behind her ear. "Didn't you get the better end of the deal when you slept next to me?"
The prince looked like he was about to laugh but the incredulous look on his face took over. "Me? Thankful to sleep next to you? Oh please."
She shrugged. "It's okay. I know you already feel blessed."
She took a step but the prince held her by her elbow, not harshly but enough that she stopped in her tracks. His face was carrying a pissed off, I-am-serious-stop-messing-around look.
"What?" she whispered back, daring him.
The prince looked at his men who were cleaning up the dinner and putting out the fire. "You've taken enough royalty classes to know that you should be the face of hope when times are hard. You are a princess."
"I don't see why you keep on reminding that when you are the one who keeps on forgetting." She tried to yank her elbow from him but his grip remained.
"Princess Yingyue," he said. "Need I remind you that these were the men that built you a bathroom? They are trying to keep you alive and comfortable. Don't try to take their hopes away by saying that you are willing to subject yourself in an unhealthy practice. Throw your pride and let me help you sleep."
"I don't want to sleep next to you!" she said in the loudest voice that she could without risking anyone hearing them.
"Would you rather one of them sleep with you instead?"
She glared at him and pulled at her elbow. She successfully pried herself away and she walked back to the shack, knowing that she did not have much choice.

"Is the princess alright?" Doctor Jung asked when the prince went back to his tent. "You looked like you were having a heated discussion."
"She's fine," the prince answered.
"Does she not want your help sleeping?"
The prince did not answer.
"Well, Your Highness," said the doctor, "you know you're the only one allowed to sleep next to her, right?"
He sighed. "I'll just leave her be. I don't want to force her to do something that she did not really want to do." He disappeared into his tent and tried to sleep.
He was not at all that surprised when someone woke him up in the middle of the night.
