"What's this?" Light looked at the 8 purple glowing cubes. Hikaru Happily showed off his new invention to his big brother.
"This is my power nasoids! unlike the small ones, I can use these to unleash attacks or to create virtual environments." He showed off by turning their secret base into an endless grassland, shocking the 12-year-old boy out off his wits, but he soon calmed down.
"How are you going to hide this?" he asked.
"Like this!" The nasoids sunk into the child's arms, making light jump in the air and grab the young boy's arms.
"What did you do? where did they go? Dose it hurt you? God dammit did you do experiments on yourself?!" Light asked furiously, with a great deal of worry laced in each and every word. Hikaru jumped and looked away. "Oh god, you did!"
"I-it's just a small thing!" Hikaru weakly defended, but he himself knew that he shouldn't have done it. The prosses of turning part of himself was painful, but it made everything so much easier...
"What does it do to you? Do you even know about the side effects?! what if you-you!" Light nearly bent over from worry, Hikaru caught his brother.
"It's okay! I did the experiment on mice before i tried it on myself!" He didn't lie, he was scarred of doing it on himself, so he got a few mice to try it on.
"R-really? what about the side effect?" He asked.
"The only side effect I'd call negative is that I won't grow a lot." He sadly sighed. "I'll just be smaller, that's the only side effects I promise!"
"Are you sure? Wait, you said only- what's the rest?" he demanded.
"Well..." Lights eyes bore into him, making him have to speak. "The Nasoids are like small cells in the body, it can't be seen by metal detectors or x rays. The reason why I won't grow is well... the nasoids will slowly build into my body, causing something akin to growing pains... That's all there is! This is a for sure! The rest is all benefits!"
"Your sure?" he stared.
"I am! It enhances immunity, regeneration, motor processing, memory, and it makes my bones stronger and lighter!" He nodded his head. "It's also like a computer in my brain! I can see a mental computer threw my eyes, like the cube computer we use now only better!"
"Oh?" Light now looked intrigued. "Can I have it as well?"
"Of course! I even made an extra batch for you!" He happily brought out a tube of purple semi luminescent liquid. "All you have to do is drink it. well only a quarter today and for the next 3 days."
"Put it away for now, I'll save it." Hikaru looked at him in confusion. "I much rather use it when I'm taller."
Slowly, the younger twin flushed in anger.
Why didn't he think of that!?
...
They were both 17, quite rich 17-year Olds thanks to their constant appearance in competitions... Light still made time to go to the NPA to help solve cases like in the original timeline, and he sometimes saw Misa in magazines and commercials.
Sayu Obviously likes light more than him, his father also preferred Light then the child that wanted to be an engineer rather than a cop. Their mother preferred him, thanks to his small stature.
Unlike him and his very short stature, Light took the serum when he was 16 and still grew to the height of 5'8. It should be around the same in cannon.
However, he still worried constantly, and kept his eyes on the school yard like a hawk.
He forgot when the death note dropped, all he remembered was that Light was 17 maybe 18 when it happened. However, he wasn't going to risk it coming at an earlier time. If he sees it then he's going to stop his brother... and hope that their plans for the future made this world less boring for him.
Hikaru looked to his brother, who was sitting in the seat right Infront of him. It was sad they couldn't sit right next to each other, but the draw had to be againced them. Even when he cheated using his nasoids.
He looked at his brother and quietly sent a message threw his mental computer.
'I'm bored.'
'can't you play games?' light messaged back. Along with a string of random games he could play.
'Wanna play ping pong?' He showed the virtual game.
'Sure.'
The 2 entered into the arena, their physical bodies still in the state of consciousness as they let their minds enter the virtual world. the arena was set in a spaceship with various distractions like meteors destroying the ship or passing realistic aliens that ran in the panic from the impending doom with a squabble scabble.
'This arena? really?' Light gave his little brother an irritated look. he remembered when they first in this arena and was forced into the loss multiple times due to the constant apparencies of aliens and meteors.
Unlike his brother, who could solely focus on the game without even flinching from the falling Debree, he couldn't get used to the fact that everything around him constantly falling apart.
well, he has to hand it to this little brother of his. Light was competent in almost everything he did, to the point where the world almost got boring. However, with the constant games with sights of space travel and mind-boggling generated scenarios by advanced nasoid AI, his brother made the world 1000 times brighter.
It made him wonder what the world would be like without him.
He could only shudder at the thought.
...
"So, I'm saying, if there could be a god simulation with advanced AI, would the subjects be able to rebel if the 'God' isn't good enough for them?" Hikaru asked.
"Unless you make it impossible to rebellion, then yes it's completely possible." Light said.
"But what would they do? What would happen after?" he asked. "Would it be game over? Or would you have to get the few believers to rise once again?"
"Depends on how you program it, but it would be rather interesting if you had to stoop so low in order to get a comeback." Light thought about it carefully. "I'd prefer the 2nd option. It makes it more challenging."
"o-!?" Hikaru froze, as did light.
<Kurou Otoharada died from a heart attack well keeping staff and children hostage at->
He starred at the news, and Light looked back at his little brother, wondering why he would have this pop up. Hikaru looked at his brother and took a deep breath in.
"That... You got the notification too?" He asked.
"I did, what for?" he asked.
"Well, this guy has been snooping around near our location- so I put a bookmark on his name...I don't think this guy had any heart problems." he took a look at the information one more time.
"Hm?" light looked at the information, ignoring the part where his little brother lied about. he didn't mind if his little brother had some secrets, he's been honest with about everything else anyway. "your right... His medical record dose have drugs, but he's never overdosed and the drugs in his blood stream has never been over a certain amount. for a heart attack to suddenly happen..."
"Any theories?" he asked.
"None, unless he was suicidal or... but a heart attack happening would need..." Light slowly started to mumble. "it's either he did something or something happened. It would have been easier if it was a cardiac arrest, at least I'd have a theory on that but a heart attack... their completely different things. Unless he went unchecked of a recent problem."
"Hm..." He hummed, his mind whirling.
"How many of these guys do you have marked?" Light asked.
"Only 4." It was true, he'd been watching the nearby dangerous criminals just in case they got to close to their secret base. It wouldn't be good if any of them discovered the small inventions hidden there.
It's a good thing all of the information went virtual in their mental lab.
"Welcome home dears!" Their mother held out her hands. They both brought out their scores. "Ah! Light is number one in the nation! Oh, and our dear is 32, both of you did amazing!"
"Hm!" Hikaru nodded.
"Do you both want anything?" She asked. "Anything at all?"
'What would we need?'
