"Are you alright Ohashi-san?" L mindfully spoke over the receiver. Hikaru stood next to him, watching the poor old lady wither away in the confinement cell. "You don't have to put yourself threw such suffering."
"No....No, I won't come out...My son, he's innocent." The lady's voice cracked from dehydration; body feeble from the lack of nutrients. However, she persevered in the confinement for over a month now. "Kira has shown once again with his disgusting means of murder... My son shouldn't be hurt like this... He's innocent... only you need to be convinced, Ryuzaki..."
"...She sure is dedicated..." Matsuda muttered. Aizawa gave the other a slight glance before looking at the monitor with pity- no, rather sympathy. The man was a father himself, he probably felt what the mother was feeling.
He had to admit, her mother's love and devotion was enough to move the take force. Ryuzaki however held on all this time after the lady went crazy about wanting to be in confinement with her son and would only leave and join the task force when her son was proven innocent.
Matsuda, Aizawa, Mogi, his father, and even light-in the beginning- looked at her as some sort of great mother. Even L seemed to be a little moved by her.
It was only him who found her disgusting. The reason was simple, she was throwing the investigators into a bias. Something everyone, even L, falls victim too. Even in the anime L falls to the farce of friendship that he had with light. Not even his thinking pose could save him then.
The worst part about this was that he couldn't tell anyone but light about his worries. Light was also helpless to the growing bias, but he was also trying to steer the investigators mindset (As the only twin who could, Hikaru was starting to hate his profession as an engineer at this point.). Something that was noticed by L.
Thank God, or death god, that the 2 sharpest minds managed to get cleared out of the gutter. As for Watari, honestly, he never really talked to the elderly man. He hopped that old guy would have enough wisdom to not fall for her petty love for her child to let a potential murderer out.
If he didn't have forever to look forward too, he'd have killed both Misa and that rat the moment they stepped into their territory. It brings up the regret he'll probably have all his life, not killing them when they were still loose.
Ah, what a regret that is.
"Ohashi-kun, are you okay?" L asked, moving to the second monitor. Matsuda looked at the lead detective with a pout. Hikaru, who saw his look in the corner of his eye, grew increasingly displeased. Taking another note to tell light at a later time.
"I'm...not okay!" Ohashi growled. Shocking Hikaru, who expected something similar to the anime to carry out. If he wasn't mistaken, Light didn't throw a temper tantrum at this point of time... right? He didn't exactly have an accurate timeline of the anime or any of the dialoged besides the more memorable ones. Then again, light could have thrown a temper tantrum, or this could just be the discrepancies of personality. "The killings have stopped since I've been confined! Of course, I'm not okay! I'm about to be framed for mass murder, a death sentence! I'm only 19, 19! What about my mother? What is she going to do without me? My father's dead, and I'm her only child!"
"It's not framing if you are kira." L corrected.
"No! I'm not kira, how many times to I have to say that in order to get it in that thick skull of yours!" Ohashi screamed.
"Rough... The kid's probably at his wits end thinking that he's going to framed for mass murder." Aizawa muttered to Matsuda.
"Amane." L switched, looking at the girl in confines.
"...Yea?" She weakly asked.
"You don't seem too well. Are you okay?" Hikaru had to give L a look for that one. He'd know the answer Misa would say even if he didn't have his 'I watched the anime' cheat.
"Are you an idiot?" Misa warbled. Hikaru glared at the screen. "I've been in here for weeks- how could I be well?"
"Hm? Good point." L hummed, not particularly looking forward to speaking with the model.
"Let me go already..." She whispered desperately. "I miss Tajima..."
"They seem like that are at their limits..." Matsuda pointed out. Aizawa looked at the screens once again. Disturbed.
"Ryuzaki, why do you need to keep the 2 Ohashi's' confined? If Ohashi is released, we can finally let that poor old woman out." Aizawa began to reason. "People are getting killed without us gaining any info from these 2. It's enough to see that this is beginning to lose its purpose."
"That is true... all I see is the abnormal strength of Amane's love for Tajima Ohashi." L mumbled, silently eating another chocolate covered strawberry (provided by Hikaru). However, he made no move to free the 2.
"Ryuzaki, at this point it looks to me that you just don't want to admit you're wrong." Aizawa slowly grew agitated with world famous detective.
"I figured you'd think that." L Solemnly put down the strawberry top. Hikaru, who was still silently watching the dialectical, quickly begun a live recording.
'Is something going down?'- light
'Aizawa is trying to convince L to free the kira suspect. Just Ohashi though, it's pretty much iron clad that Misa is the 2nd kira.'- Hikaru
'Misa might be released with Ohashi if that's the case.'- light
'What do you mean by that?'- Hikaru
'You'll figure that out later, now shush I'm trying to concentrate.'- Hikaru
'You shush!'- Hikaru
'Childish'- Light
(Light muted Hikaru for 30 minutes.)
Hikaru stared in space for a split moment. Silently cursing out his brother and cursing himself for not doing that first.
"- The search of Ohashi's house reveled nothing that could pinpoint him into being Kira." Aizawa reasoned. "it's ben 50 days now. There is no longer a point in this, we need to concentrate on catching Kira!"
"...I understand." L bit his thumb. Immediately Hikaru grew frustrated- wait why was he so mad?
This was a normal chat between the 2, even if he wanted them to rot away in those confinement rooms, he knew that Ohashi had to come out at some point. He was too emotional when it came to the detective... he couldn't let his own feelings get in the way of the investigation, he might get kicked off if that's the case.
"Ohashi-san." L called. The older woman in the room flinched, not expecting the sudden call.
"...What?" She asked as she hung her head despondently.
"I want to speak to you directly, will you join this taskforce?" L asked but continued speaking without letting the woman answer. "I will share my conclusion on the case, as Ohashi's mother, I want you to be the first to hear it."
Wait, déjà vu, He's having some sort over déjà vu moment. Holly shit, why can't he remember it? Think brain think!
Hikaru silently tried to contact light again, however he was still muted for another 12 minutes. He silently raged at his brother, wanting to get some hints so this déjà vu feeling gone and get some answers.
"God dammit light."
