Chapter 1
Lee Gongyun embodies the idea of a perfect man. He is intelligent, athletic, and undeniably narcissistic. Confident in everything he does, he takes great pride in his accomplishments.
To be honest, he's living life to the fullest. He enjoys maintaining a healthy lifestyle and fully relishes the attention he receives. The admiration from others makes his heart flutter. He loves being pampered by his family and friends, a privilege of being the younger child. This has led Gongyun to be spoiled by everyone around him, growing up without knowing rejection. People naturally want to care for him, and even his most aloof friend, Yujin, has a soft spot for him.
Gongyun is like a ray of sunshine. His personality effortlessly draws people to him, enhancing his ethereal beauty—his doe-like eyes, reminiscent of stars, framed by long lashes that could fan his cheeks. With flawless skin and pink lips, Gongyun resembles the son of Aphrodite. He occasionally leverages this charm to get his way, often sparing himself from disappointment.
While often the center of attention, Gongyun also enjoys many hobbies, including cooking and playing games. On his days off, he sometimes spends time at home, indulging in cozy movie marathons with his sweet and affectionate pet cat, Dabi. Dabi is a rescue cat that Gongyun fell in love with at first sight. He named him after his favorite anime character and loves having Dabi snuggle beside him.
Gongyun's parents and older sister adore him and have always provided for him, even spoiling him well into his adult years. Despite this, Gongyun enjoys a challenge. He has built a legacy, now owning a successful game company. An avid gamer (a self-proclaimed nerd), Gongyun is fortunate to have the confidence and support of his loved ones, which fuels his pursuits. He is a successful game developer who created a virtual AI game that anyone can enjoy, regardless of age. The game is accessible on Android, iPhones, and other electronic devices. It quickly became a hot topic, with its success skyrocketing. Occasionally, Gongyun holds competitions with generous prizes, aiming to provide people with the time to enjoy themselves. The game he created has brought great entertainment, and he is incredibly proud of it.
Gongyun is very athletic and consistently hits the gym to maintain his physique. He enjoys a wide range of sports and activities, including shooting, taekwondo, jiu-jitsu, judo, and more. He's also active in horseback riding, golf, basketball, swimming, and various other sports. Gongyun leads a hectic yet fulfilling life, living out his dreams.
The only thing Gongyun lacks is a lover. He struggles to distinguish between romantic and platonic love, as well as between admiration and obsession. Though he has no experience with romantic love, it doesn't bother him. He isn't in a rush and remains oblivious to others' ill intentions.
Perhaps it's his fault for not paying enough attention to those who love him. The feelings he received were unintentional, yet they came from the heart of the wrong person.
Gongyun has a stalker.
He mistakenly believed that his stalker was just a die-hard fan who wanted to be close to their idol.
The night he thought he would spend quietly with his beloved cat turned into the most terrifying moment of his life.
He watched, confessing his love—something Gongyun couldn't perceive. The undying love he spoke of sent shivers of fear through Gongyun's bones. The knife that stabbed him multiple times during the confession left his mind paralyzed.
Gongyun died, bleeding from multiple stab wounds inflicted by a sharp knife engraved with his name on the handle.
The floor was frigid and reeked of a metallic scent—his own blood. This smell only intensified his distress as he faced the near-death experience. All he could see were the vicious and apathetic gazes of the man who had professed to love him until death.
Nothing mattered when the pain from being stabbed, which tormented his body, was the only thing he could feel.
The redness of his blood and the sharpness of the blade cutting through his flesh.
The words 'I love you' kept repeating as he felt the sharp edge of the knife against his skin. The pain is excruciating, and the sound of the knife cutting through flesh is lodged in his memory.
Gongyun descends into the abyss.
