章節 2: Chapter 2
When Rose was cleaned up clean after washing up . Gab could now see how cute this little girl actually was . Rose has a wavy shoulder length hair with some baby hairs framing around her forehead . She's about his waist height and has a pair of round brown eyes , button like nose and small heart shaped plumpy lips . If not because of malnutrition she wouldn't have her cheeks sunken .
" Haven't you drunk water regularly? You look dehydrated . "
Rose wiped her hair with a towel and shook her head .
Gab grabbed the towel and started drying her hair with the small towel . " Then drink a lot of water in the future . "
Rose obediently nodded. " I will "
Gab arc up his brows in satisfaction . " Good girl "
Gab set the towel aside and turned Rose body to face him . He then asked . ", Where's the comb? "
Rose clicked her tongue and answered . " We don't have a comb , brother . "
Gab showed a perplexed expression then raised his hand holding a brown comb from the space. " Then what's this? "
Rose immediately held Gab's wrist and pulled it down around her height and scrunitized the appearance of the comb . " This is not ours . Where did we get such beautifully created comb? "
Gab shook his shoulders and nonchalantly started combing her hair . " Maybe the ghost gave it to us for snatching my memories. "
" That's absurd brother " Rose chuckled .
Seeing the cute smile upon her face . A faint smile gradually formed on the teenager's lips. He was an only child in his past life and always wished to have a younger sibling to take care of. Now , the wish was granted after becoming Gabriel .
The pair of siblings could be seen sitting in their doorsteps . The teenager was styling the toddler's hair , while the toddler is playing with the spiders from a small container within her hands .
The clouds gradually moved away revealing the shining yellow star ahead. " The incy wincy spider climbed up the water spout. "
" Down came the rain and washed the spider out. Up came the sun and dried up all the rain . "
" So the incy wincy spider climbed up the spout again . La la la lala , la lala lala . "
The gentle youthful voice of the teenager rang out as the teenager watched sun shining again . Rose playing with the small spiders secretly paid attention to the lyrics and felt that the song sounds good . It also coincided with their situation as the rain finally stopped and the sun came out again . Rose's eyes sparkled and turned to look at his brother gently singing the song .
" Brother , i never knew you have such an angelic voice . "
Gab got surprised by the sudden praise and couldn't help chuckling . He pinched her nose softly and patted her cheeks. " You're flattering me. "
Rose crossed her legs and patted her legs as she carefully looked at him with her beautiful round eyes ." I'm telling the truth brother. "
Gab smiled then gently asked. " Do you want yo learn the song? It's simple and easy to memorize. "
" Yes please "
So polite ... Gab straightened his back and started singing the song again . When he finished singing , Gab asked Rose to repeat after him .
The pair of siblings spent their free time bonding with each other increasing their intimacy and dependence .
Then , Rose suddenly asked a question. " How did you remember this song brother? Didn't you say that you don't remember anything anymore? "
Gab's wandering eyes immediately paused and blinked , before smiling . " I just made it up "
I'm sorry for the real writer of the song . Gab touched his jaws and felt sorry for lying again. Fortunately though , he was already used to lying a lot of times and could come up with excuses in a quick span of time . Rose was amazed and her round eyes sparkled like gems . " Wow brother , you're so amazing . You must have made the song on the whim seeing me playing with spiders . "
No ... Don't make me guiltier , stop it .
Gab sighed and decided to make another topic . " Let's clean the house . It's already damp and wet . "
" Oh " Rose immediately stand up and followed Gab inside and started cleaning up .
The siblings didn't possessed many things . Only basic things such as quilts , old clothes , wooden cups ,bowls , spoons , pots , jars and small cabinets . They are so poor to the point of pity. When cleaning up , there's actually a lot of dust gathered in every corners of the house . Rose on the other hand was folding their clothes and arranged it properly inside the cabinet.
Half an hour later , the house can now be said to be clean enough to be inhabitable . Gab sat down and sighed thinking that it was a pity not getting back his power with his reincarnation . Fortunately though , he can still perceive spiritual energies around the area and it seems that this world isn't as simple as it seems . If there's spiritual energy in the environment , that means spiritual beasts existed and people with an ability may also exist.
"Brother , the rain had already stopped long ago . Why don't we try tapping some animals to eat for lunch and dinner? " Rose crawled and sat down beside him .
Gab closed his eyes and layed down his back to the floor before nodding . " Let me take a rest for a while . "
Rose nodded and stood up . She went to the kitchen and fetch a cup of water and returned to Gabriel giving him a cup of water .
Gab opened his eyes and gently sighed again before recieving the cup . " You're such a good girl , Rose . "
Rose smiled revealing her cute teeth . " I know "
Gab chuckled and gulped down the cup of water and made an aaah sound . The water was cold like a water that was freezed inside a refrigerator and felt refreshing to the throat.
Gab stood up and decided to venture into the forest together with Rose . The two walked to the backyard and picked up a sickle , ropes , and baskets .
The pair then exited the gate and started walking into the forest . When they entered the vicinity of the forest . Gab could see the outlines of the nearby houses , probably their backyards . He could also hear the noises of the chickens and dogs.
Rose then suddenly pointed to a simple stone house . " Brother , that's Auntie Yassi's house . We often asked for help from them whenever he had nothing . "
Gab marked down the house's appearance and nodded to Rose indicating that he's listening . The two then proceeded to walk further . The two then stopped walking and started laying traps .
Gab slowly knelt in front of Rose and expressed a serious expression . " Rose "
Rose blinked her eyes then raised her brows in confusion . " What is it brother . "
Gab expresses an exaggerated nervous expression again and stared right into her eyes . Gab's expression made Rose feel nervous all of a sudden and went silent in order to clearly hear what's her brother's going to say .
" I'm going to show you something magical , but ... Don't get surprised ok? "
Rose nodded her head .
" And also ... Let this become a secretly between us . No one can know about this secret or else , we will be endangered . "
Rose gulped and started sweating cold sweats . Rose quickly wiped it and breathe deeply before nodding . " Yes brother , i will never let someone else hear about our secret . "
" Pinky promise? " Gab showed his pinky to Rose .
" What's pinky promise , brother? "
Gab then explained to her how promise must not be broken . If a promise was broken , they can never be trusted again . Of course , that was false .
However , Rose believed Gabriel unconditionally and solemnly promised that she will never break this sacred promise . The two then connected their pinky fingers .
" Then , brother will show you something . " Gab stood up then went drag a log and knelt down .
" Oh mountain god that ruled the mountain of darkness . I offer this small piece of wood to ask for a small weapon that we could use to hunt food for my starving sister . May you give us mercy and provide us with little assistance .... "
Gab prayed for long while before stopping. Rose standing behind nervously watched what her brother is doing . Then her eyes suddenly widened in shock when the wood suddenly disappeared . Where did the wood go?
Rose was about to go there when a light suddenly flashed and strange weapons appeared in the place the wood had been before . Rose eyes popped out like saucers and stared intently at the bow and knives that appeared in there .
" Wow!!! " Rose covered her mouth with an unbelievable expression .
Gab slowly opened his eyes as his mouth twitched from embarrassment . He felt sorry for fooling the little girl but this is the only method for him to let Rose nit suspect his suspicious movements in the future . That way , when he takes out a foreign thing in front of Rose , Rose wouldn't ask any unnecessary questions anymore . After all , kids are usually curious about a lot of things they don't understand . It's much safer to plant some ideas within the little kid's mind .
Gab lifted up the silver bow and scrunitized it for a while . He once saw that space ability warrior using this silver bow . Now that this bow is within his hands , Gab couldn't feeling a bit smug , but then , the smile on his lips faded when he remembered how weak his body currently is .
Gab tried pulling the string and could already feel his arms numbing . Fortunately , he can still use it albeit with difficulty . Gab then lifted the quicker and hang it on his shoulder before sweeping his eyes around the forest.
" This weapons were bestowed to us by the mountain god . In the future , if we collect a lot of hunts . We shouldn't forget to thank the mountain god for giving us this weapon . "
Rose obediently nodded with hands still covering her lips from amazement.
Gab smiled then positioned himself to find some wild animals strolling nearby . The two waited for a while when they suddenly saw one pheasant . Rose's eyes immediately sparkled and tugged Gab's old shirt and pointed excitedly at it . Gab nodded indicating that he also saw the pheasant.
Gab immediately pulled out one arrow from the quiver . He slowly knocked the arrow and draw the string before aiming it at the body of the pheasant . Fortunately , it's no longer windy at this time . Gab took a deep breathe and calmed himself . His arm is already trembling and he has to release the arrow immediately .
A few seconds later , the sound of the arrow travelling through the air rang out and lunged into the body of the pheasant killing it in one shot .
Rose behind Gab clenched her fist and whispered " yes! " Excitedly.
Gab remembered something and stared at Rose with a thoughtful look . Rose however was oblivious of her brother's gaze and just run forward to get the pheasant . Rose returned and carefully put the pheasant into the basket .
" There's a lot of blood in the pheasant , blood can attract other animals here. "
Rose blinked then picked up the pheasant again . " Then what should we do ? "
Gab suddenly smiled and picked up a hoe then started digging on the ground . " Let's catch some animals baiting them with blood. "
Rose the frowned and felt worry . " What if strong wild animals will be attracted . You know brother , we're still weak and couldn't defeat them. "
Gab patted the little girl and said. " Trust your brother. "
Before Rose could talk , she was suddenly carried and hang her hands around his neck before climbing a tall tree , he then carefully put the little girl on a thick branch and prepared his weapon while staring at the trap he dug up with blood and small meat from the pheasant .
A few seconds later , the sound of a bird's cry resonated . Gab's eyes narrowed and carefully looked at the hawk flying ahead while surrounding the place where the corpse of the pheasant was lying . Gab expected to see coyotes , foxes , raccoons and any other primary predator of the pheasants to appear , he didn't expect the hawk would be attracted by the blood of it .
Rose sitting on the other side shivered and clung to the body of the tree as she watches the big hawk rounding over the sky. Gab put his forefinger to his lips and shushed before moving his limbs and aimed .
The arrows twung and few rapidly towards the left where the hawk is expected to move forward . As expected , the hawk just turned to its left when the arrow suddenly lunges into its neck. Gab narrowed his eyes and sigh in relief that the wind just now isn't particularly strong and he could still calculate the trajections of the hawks movements .
Gab immediately jump down and rolled before running towards the hawks direction and catch the hawks falling corpse . The little girl standing a top and branch of a body merrily clapped her hands and couldn't help feeling admiration towards her brother . So cool! So strong! She wants to learn how to hunt too! So cool .
Just now when her brother turned calm and serious . She couldn't help feeling that her brother loos very handsome .
Gab strode back bringing the giant hawk and carefully inspected the neck of the hawk . Fortunately , the arrow he used is made up off steel . It's sharp and can easily stab a skin . Gab pluck out the arrow and put it back to the quiver. He walked forward and also lifted the pheasant .
" Rose! Can you climb down? "
A milky voice then answered from above . " Don't worry brother! I'm good at climbing trees , i can naturally climb down . "
" That's good "
