It had been hours since Jasmine opened the book in her hand and she had not moved from the bed. She only stretched her sore limbs when she flipped to the last page. What an interesting read. Now she knew all there was to know about the feud between demons and gods.

She left the room for a breather and bumped into Bardumond.

"I was almost starting to think that you found a way to slip out and run away." He joked, the most inappropriate kind of joke in this situation.

No longer angry, she shrugged. "I wish."

"What did you end up doing to kill so much time?" He fell into her step and walked beside her down the corridor without asking where she was going. "Should I be worried?"

"You should. I read the book you gave me. Who knows? I might know just how to befriend a demon and use them to go against your family."

He found her words amusing. Dipping his head to reach her height, he asked, "Do you remember what you read?"
