Serena rolled her eyes at their panic. "You all act like this is the end of the world. Calm down and use your heads for once."
Lila shot Serena a cold look. "We just lost someone back there! You threw him to the zombies!"
Serena shrugged, unfazed. "Better him than all of us."
The third boy, Marcus, was trying to stay focused. "Look, arguing isn't going to help us. We need a plan. Maybe there's a building nearby we can barricade ourselves in?"
Jack scanned the area and spotted an old warehouse at the end of the alley. "There! That might work. It looks sturdy enough."
The group sprinted towards the warehouse, their footsteps echoing against the walls. They reached the door, and Jack pushed it open, revealing a dimly lit space filled with old crates and broken machinery.
"We should block the entrance," Marcus said, quickly moving to stack some crates in front of the door. "This should buy us some time."
Serena watched them with a smirk. "You're all so paranoid. Zombies aren't that smart."
"They don't have to be smart," Lila muttered, "just fast. And they're faster than us."
Suddenly, a loud bang echoed through the warehouse, causing everyone to jump. It came from the door.
"They're here!" Lila cried, panic rising in her voice.
Jack and Marcus quickly reinforced the door with more crates, but the banging grew louder. The zombies were relentless.
"We need to move!" Jack shouted. "
Serena was already walking deeper into the warehouse, clearly unbothered. "Come on, scaredy-cats. There's probably another exit somewhere."
Lila glared at her but followed. "You don't have to be such a..."
"Survivor?" Serena interrupted with a grin. "Thanks, I know."
As they hurried through the warehouse, Marcus suddenly stopped and pointed at a staircase leading to an upper floor. "Up there! We can get a better view of the area."
The group rushed up the stairs and reached the second floor, where they found a broken window with a clear view of the streets outside.
Lila leaned out of the window, scanning the area. "It looks clear for now, but I don't know how long we can stay here."
Jack turned to the girl beside him, who was trembling and on the verge of panic. "Hey, calm down. We're in a better position now. Just focus on staying calm and follow our lead. We'll figure this out."
The girl looked up at Jack with teary eyes, nodding slightly. Jack placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We're all in this together. If we stay focused and work as a team, we'll get through this."
Marcus glanced at Serena, who seemed unbothered by everything happening. "What's your plan, Serena? You always seem to know what to do."
Serena smirked, her eyes cold. "My plan? Survive, obviously. I don't care what happens to the rest of you, but if you want to stay alive, you'll follow my lead."
Jack frowned. "We need to stick together. We're stronger as a team."
Serena raised an eyebrow. "Team? There's no team in survival. You're on your own in this world."
Lila shook her head, frustrated. "We can't keep going like this. We need a real plan, not just running from building to building."
Jack took a deep breath and nodded. "She's right. We need to find a safe zone, somewhere with supplies and protection."
Marcus glanced out of the window again, eyes narrowing. "Then we better move soon. I see more of them coming this way."
Serena's smirk widened. "Looks like the fun's just getting started."
The sky grew darker as the group found a small, broken-down room to rest in for the night. The tension between them was thick, and the exhaustion from running all day was starting to show.
Serena, as usual, had an attitude. "This place is disgusting. We're really sleeping here?" she sneered, crossing her arms and leaning against the wall.
Jack sighed, trying to keep everyone calm. "We don't have a choice, Serena. It's safe, and we need to rest."
Lila, still shaken from earlier, quietly agreed, "We need to sleep, Serena. We can figure things out in the morning."
Serena rolled her eyes, "Whatever. Just don't expect me to be all sunshine and rainbows when we wake up."
Meanwhile, Trent and Caius were slowly creeping through a dark hallway, the air heavy with the stench of decay. They moved carefully, whispering to each other as they searched for a safe place to spend the night.
"We've been walking forever," Trent whispered. "Let's try the other side. Maybe there's something there."
Just as he turned around, his eyes widened in shock. He almost bumped into a zombie, its rotting form barely visible in the shadows. Before Trent could react, Caius immediately covered his mouth, shaking his head to keep him from making any noise.
They both quickly pressed themselves to the side, trying to avoid the zombie's attention. But Trent accidentally stepped on a loose piece of rubble, making a sharp crack echo through the hallway.
Caius moved instantly, grabbing the zombie's chin and head. Without hesitating, he twisted its neck in a sharp motion, snapping it before the zombie could make a sound. He did it quickly, knowing he had to stop the zombie from alerting others.
Then, with a swift motion, Caius pulled out the small knife he'd picked up earlier and pierced it into the zombie's head, making sure it was dead.
Trent stared at Caius in shock, his mouth slightly open. "Dude... what the hell?"
Caius, breathing heavily, wiped the sweat from his forehead. "If it made any noise, we'd be screwed. Stay quiet next time."
Trent nodded, impressed but still a little shaken. "You... you're really not the same pretty boy I knew, huh?"
Caius didn't respond. He just glanced around, making sure there weren't any more zombies nearby. "Let's keep moving. We need to find somewhere safe before more of them show up."
Caius and Trent finally stumbled upon a small storage area, hidden behind a pile of debris. It was cramped, but it would do for the night. Only a few boxes and old supplies filled the space, but there was enough room for the two of them to squeeze in.
