章節 10: Boss against Boss

Something slammed me repeatedly against the floor, cracking the ground with each blow. Suddenly, I was released and my back hit a wall, creating a worrying sound.

I couldn't tell whether it was me or the wall. Luckily, I didn't feel any pain, so I reoriented myself and scanned the area, a large metallic room with scattered boxes and other objects.

Heave metallic steps shook the room, it was Gol D. Loota, wearing black and red Mega-Armor with a golden skull with rubies for eyes adorning his chest, a pole with his flowing flag attached to his back, a black Power Klaw on his right hand, and a Twin-Linked Shoota on his left one.

"I'll turn ya in' scrap Tin Man." He carefully held a pipe with his Power Klaw and lit it with a shot.

"CRA! I'll turn ya in' scrap Tin Man!" The Squig on his shoulder repeated as he smoked.

"HA! Dream about it! You surprised me, but maybe it's for the best. This back-and-forth between us leads nowhere, so why don't we end it here and now, where no one will interrupt us?" I stood up.

That's it, be confident! Don't show that you're scared of fighting a Warboss in Mega-Armor!

He took the pipe from his mouth and blew a smoke cloud.

"Spoke like a real bozz. We'll settle dis 'da Orkish way, bozz against bozz!"

"CRA! Bozz against bozz!"

He threw his pipe toward me, but I swung my Staff of Light's lightning-covered ornament, hitting it.

BOOM!

However, it unexpectedly exploded in my face.

Gunpowder?! Was he smoking gunpowder?!

The blast did not harm me, however, the ground shook as I tried to clear the smoke, giving me a few seconds to dodge Loota's Power Klaw opening a hole in the wall, raising a dust cloud with something shining inside.

DAKKA!

DAKKA!

DAKKA!

A bullet hail almost hit me and opened holes in the wall as I crossed the room, creating a deafening cacophony.

Thanks to The Emperor that I do not have ears.

"Stop runn'n an' fight!"

"Then why don't you stop shooting?!" I used a large metal box as a cover and powered my Staff, swinging it like a baseball bat.

The metal creaked and dented with ice forming in the damaged area as it flew toward the Warboss, pinning him against the wall.

I teleported a Hyperphasic Sword to my left hand a jumped, aiming the blade at Loota's brain.

I felt a mixture of joy and sadness at engaging the enemy leader and ending the fight so quickly, however, he thought the opposite and lifted the box with a cry, throwing it at me.

I spun the sword and cut the box in half, the blade vibrated between dimensions, forcibly separating the atoms as squeaks and sparks arose, and landed crouched in front of Loota, seeing his armored foot trying to smash me.

I rolled away and swung at his thigh, slicing the armor like butter and drawing blood from the hot, glistening gash. However, he pointed his gun at me, forcing me to stand quickly and slam my Staff into his hand, freezing it and preventing him from pulling the trigger.

I took the chance and slashed his chest, leaving a wound similar to the previous one, but he endured the blow and punched me with his free hand. I used my Staff as a shield, the metal in my arms creaked and my feet slid across the room, drawing lines on the metallic floor.

"HAHAHA! Well done, Tin Man! Give me an' gud fight!" With effort, Loota broke the ice that covered his hand and pulled the gun's trigger.

DAKKA!

DAKKA!

DAKKA!

I didn't have time to dodge and the bullets hit me as I still recovered from the previous blow. It was not enough to seriously damage me, so I pointed my Gauntlet at the Warboss and released a flaming green wave.

"AAAHHH!" He screamed in pain as the flames consumed him, however, something moved midst of the fire. "Waaagh!" Loota protected his face with both arms as he ran towards me.

He collided with me with such strength that I flew through several walls, passing through corridors, storage rooms, and armories until the force dissipated and I stopped, sunk into a wall.

Static flickered across my vision as messages appeared.

ALERT!

ALERT!

STARTING NECRODERMI'S SELF-REPAIR

The dents, cuts, and bullet marks on my body disappeared almost instantly and crooked fingers returned into place while I shook my head, trying to recover. The static disappeared and I saw Loota advancing again, but it won't work a second time.

I hit the floor with the butt of my Staff, covering it in a layer of ice and his eyes widened when he stepped on it, losing his balance as I moved away, watching as he hit the wall where I stood previously.

I used my Staff like a baseball bat again, slamming it into his chest with a lightning burst, destroying his skull ornament and sending him through the wall, stopping on a walkway overlooking a cafeteria with him falling from it.

I quickly sent my Staff away and held a pair of Hyperphasic Sword, jumping off the walkway toward the Warboss's back.

"CRA! Behind you!" The Squig screamed.

He immediately turned around and grabbed me with his Power Klaw as blood dripped from his mouth, probably internal damage.

"Parrot son of a…"

CLANG!

CRACK!

He tried to crush me, cutting my speech as my body creaked with the absurd pressure.

Come on, what else do I have with me?! I know!

I controlled the small metallic creatures that lived in my body and a cloud of Mindshackle Scarabs left my mouth like a horror movie, covering Loota's face and attacking his eyes.

This made him release me and I ordered some scarabs to enter through his ear and control his mind, making his eyes glow between red and green.

"Wot did ya do ta me, Tin Man?!" Loota resisted the scarabs' control, his adrenaline must be at full blast.

"Nothing big, I just called my little friends to our party since you have one on your shoulder! I hope you don't mind!"

Loota raised his Power Klaw with difficulty, trying to use his other arm to stop himself, however, I increased the scarab's power and his eyes glowed intensely.

Unable to hold back, he raised his armored arm and slammed it into his shoulder, squishing his Squig like a mosquito. Blood splattered on his face and trickled between his Power Klaw's fingers, leaving red paste and feathers.

"DO YA KNOW HOW RARE DIS SQUIG WAS?!" His eye's green glow disappeared, and the scarabs lost control over him and returned to my body.

"I don't know and don't care! Do you know how many resources I've wasted with you?! That is something important!" I sank my fingers into a metallic cafeteria table, ripping it off the ground and breaking it in two on his head, who retreated disoriented.

I threw the remaining half at his chest and advanced with a sword in each hand, but the whole ship shook and swayed before I attacked, tilting aside as anything that wasn't attached slid across the floor toward a wall, including him and me.

"Waaagh!"

He fell with his foot aimed at my head, but I rolled aside and he went through the wall.

CRASH!

Looking through the hole, I saw him holding onto the ship's deck with his Power Klaw to not fall into the ocean, but this did not stop him from pointing his gun at me and firing another volley.

I retreated with the bullets whizzing past me and lay on the wall, hands together and thumbs wagging, thinking about my next move.

Mega-Armors are extremely heavy, the Ork equivalent of a Terminator Armor, which means Loota shouldn't run or move quickly, but he did anyway.

The armor must have a specific piece called Mega-Boosta, which increases the suit's power, allowing the user to move faster. If I destroy it, he will have to support the armor's weight alone.

I analyzed the armor, seeing something that maybe was what I was looking for, a metallic box on its back, a Power Pack similar to Space Marine's.

I left the hole and plunged my sword into the deck, slowing my fall as the Warboss fired at me, but this didn't stop me from sinking a blade into both of his shoulders.

"AAAHHH! GET OFF ME, TIN MAN!" He struggled, unable to release the ship or we would both fall, which is fine to me, as I don't need air.

"Sorry, but I need you to stay still, I'd like to make some adjustments to your armor." I removed a sword from his right shoulder and pointed it at the Mega-Boosta, however, he whistled and laughed before attacking, confusing me.

"HAHAHA!"

"What is so funny?!"

"Hope ya have fun wit' ma little fish, Tin Man!"

Little fish?

A dark spot in the water moved quickly towards us, then a fin broke the surface.

Was that a shar…

A huge creature left the water, it had a white spiked body, large red glowing eyes, and a great open mouth full of gigantic teeth.

I sent my right sword away and teleported my Staff to my hand, casting a lightning hail and burning its face's left side. Even so, it closed its gigantic mouth around me and dragged me underwater.

My systems screamed as the monster chewed and hit me against the sea bottom's rocks, ripping pieces of my body carried away by the current.

I used my Mindshackle Scarabs and the little machines crawled through its gills, reaching its brain and controlling its simple mind, releasing me. I rolled across the rocky floor, ordering the shark to turn around as jumped and grabbed its fin.

I feel like Aquaman, or would it be AquaNecron? It doesn't matter! This is no time for jokes!

The shark circled Loota's ship, picking up speed and leaping from the water towards the deck where Orks and Necrons fought. It thrashed on the ground, so I ordered the Scarabs to fry its brain, making blood trickle from its gills, mouth, and nose.

Now, where was the Warboss?

Looking around, I realized what made the ship tilt, one of the Orks vessels collided with the flagship's left side, probably due to a wave.

"Waaagh!"

I turned around quickly, swinging my Staff towards the noise, hitting an Ork head's side like a mace, exploding it in a shower of blood and brains. Then, an Ork mob approached, carrying firearms and melee weapons.

Well, I am fucking furious now!

"You annoying pests! I have no business with you! Where is Loota?!"

I don't know where those words came from, most likely the Necron side. However, the Orks' answered by shooting me, their caliber not even close to Loota's, so most bullets bounced off my body.

"So be it!" I swung my Staff and broke an Ork's arm, freezing and crushing it in my grip;

"AAAHHH!"

"Silence!" I pointed my Gauntlet at his head and incinerated it along with an approaching mob.

I attacked carelessly, using my weapon like a metal piece, hitting an Ork's chin and sending his head flying away. Another Ork's chest, crushing his ribs and sending him to the floor where I stomped his head.

Another Ork's head and his eyes popped out, then crushed his frozen face in a shower of white crystals. An Ork's chest, making him fly and hit an Ork group, then I aimed my Gauntlet and turned them to ash.

Bullets fired by an Ork group on a walkway ricocheted off my face's side, so I rained lightning upon them, melting the metal and burning them to the bone, feeling fortunate that I could not smell.

It's not over yet, they kept coming, Ork after Ork, I swung my Staff, left, right, left, right, breaking bones, ripping heads, freezing and crushing limbs, but they kept coming.

"ENOUGH!"

I aimed my Gauntlet and released a fire wave, spinning around quickly and burning everything to nothing midst bullets and screams, finding myself on a flaming deck covered in molten metal and dead Orks.

I would be breathing heavily due to stress if I still had lungs.

"TIN MAN!"

Something large walked among the flames, Gol D. Loota.

"I see yer krumped ma little fish!" He watched the Shark's partially burned remains.

Strange, I don't remember burning it. Was I too lost in rage?

"What can I say?! I hope you like fried fish!" I shrugged.

"When I'z done wit' ya, I'z gunna invade 'dat place ya kall home, make a new fleet, wipe out 'da wimpy 'umiez an' go ta space! I will start ma Waaagh! Ma war band will go from planet ta planet where we will get wun gud fight afta annuver!"

"Good luck with that! Your friends won't help you and you won't get any new ships!"

"What da ya mean?!"

"Do you think I stood by while you attacked my tomb?! The little island you call home no longer exists! No planes, ships or Orks will rescue you! You are alone Loota! Everything you have is here around you! Either you beat me and start from scratch or you die! Simple isn't it?!"

His eyes turned redder than usual as he gritted his teeth and growled, stomping the ground and shaking the deck, then, he roared and charged toward me.

"AAAHHH!"

"HAHAHA! THAT'S IT! COME AT ME!"

The Necron side screamed louder, I aimed my Staff at him and fired, but he shielded his face as the bolts scorched and melted his armor.

He tried to smash me with his Power Klaw, but I jumped back as it opened a hole in the deck, then, pointed his gun at me, but I kicked it off his hand.

He removed his claw from the deck and swung at my face, but I dropped to one knee and pointed my Gauntlet at his chest.

"AAAHHH!"

He screamed as he burned, but grabbed my arm midst my attack and threw me over his head and against the ground, trying to stomp my head.

Simultaneously, I saw something falling from the sky and slammed my Staff into the ground, freezing his legs in place, then firing at his face, burning half of it and making him release me.

I stood up quickly and grabbed the falling thing, making Loota face his own gun's barrel.

CLICK!

CLICK!

CLICK!

But nothing happened upon pulling the trigger.

Ork technology, of course! Why did I think this would work in my hands?

So, I chose the second option and threw his gun overboard.

"I will… AH!"

I didn't let him finish and swung my Staff at his head's side, removing his hat and him from the ice, leaving a bloody wound.

"Yer destroyed ma island, kild ma Squigs an' threw away ma gun! I won't jus kill yer, I'll dismantle yer an' use yer parts ta repair ma armor, den I'll put yer head on da front uv ma ship, ta showz da otha Tin Men wot I'll do to them!"

He ran and slammed his Klaw against the ground, raising a dust cloud as I swung at his previous location, hitting air as alarms appeared in my vision.

ALERT!

ALERT!

CRITICAL DAMAGE TO THE LEFT SIDE.

Left side?

Looking down, I saw that his Power Klaw's fingers retracted, revealing a hook that was now stuck in my rib cage's lower left area.

I pointed my Gauntlet at his head, but he pushed it aside, avoiding the flaming jet as he lifted me in the air.

"HAHAHA! I beat ya Tin Man!"

"HAHAHA!"

"Wot's so funny Tin Man?! Yer lost!"

"HAHAHA! How could I lose when I'm still here talking to you?!"

I don't know what's wrong with me! I'm not scared! I'm happy! My "heart" raced, my "blood" burned! I feel a joy coming from somewhere within my systems!

Was it the Overlord or some remnant of his personality left in this body's systems?! It doesn't matter! I just want this to continue!

I raised my Staff and released a lightning blast, throwing us away, then, stood up quickly and hit his chest, pushing him back, but he grabbed my weapon with both hands as I did the same, disputing for dominance.

However, I energized my Staff, electrocuting him.

"AAAHHH!" He screamed as lightning flowed through his body and armor.

I kept it up and applied more strength, pushing him back. What started as one step at a time turned into a mad sprint leaving holes in my wake.

"What are yer doing?!"

"Isn't that what you wanted?! A boss-against-boss fight?! I'm giving you one!"

We approached the ship's edge as I commanded one of my units, falling on a Ghost Ark waiting for us above the water. He landed on his back with me on top still electrocuting him, then I ordered the ark to rise until we approached the storm clouds.

I snatched my Staff from his hands and raised it above my head to crush his skull. Suddenly, his beard jumped from his chin and clung to my face.

Was that thing a Squig too?!

I ripped it off and threw it away. Unfortunately, that allowed him to stand up.

"I don't know wot yer're tink'n Tin Man, but dere's nowhere ta run now!" He screamed midst the pouring rain and lightning storm around us.

"You are exactly where I want Loota!"

He screamed in rage and raised his Klaw, however, nature acted and he had the same experience I had, lightning split the sky and struck the pole in his armor's back.

"AAAHHH! I will… I will…" He thrashed as wires and metal pieces jumped from his gear, dropping to one knee with smoke billowing from his body when everything ended.

I walked toward him and grabbed his shoulders, head-butting him and drawing blood from his nose, then, I punched his face, knocking out some teef.

"You know, that was fun despite the fear I felt! It's a shame it has to end like this!" I walked away while teleporting a sword in each hand.

"It will end for yer Tin Man!" He tried to hit me with his Klaw, but his movements were too slow due to having to support his armor.

I stepped back and slashed his chest, dodging a backhand and piercing his left side, ripping the sword off and tearing his flesh apart, then, I lowered both blades at his head but used his Klaw as a shield.

The swords fought against the quality metal as sparks contrasted against the golden skull gleaming midst the rain. I forced my blades down, leaving two boiling cuts on the Klaw and breaking Loota's balance.

I pushed him back with a kick to the chest and thrust both swords deep into his chest, making him gasp as I pushed him toward the edge.

"It… It doesn't end like dat tin man!"

"You're right, it doesn't end like that, I'll control this planet when I'm done with you, then I'll go to space where my fleet will move from planet to planet, increasing my empire and getting a good fight! I can only thank you for removing the doubts out of my mind!"

I ripped my right blade from his chest and cut his neck, painting my face with his blood, making him look at me horrified as he fell from the Ark, however, I held him by his Power Klaw, preventing him from falling.

"I would like a souvenir to remind me of you before you go, the first challenge I faced in my new life!"

I raised my left sword and slashed his shoulder, severing his Power Klaw from his body and felling him to his death.

-XXXXXX-

The Necron and Ork forces fought across the flagship's deck, among those were Rahkikh and Thaszan surrounded by sliced Orks piles.

"Did you find our Lord?!" Rahkikh asked.

"Not yet, the green skins are still in the way!" Thaszan replied.

"We need to find him, what if our Lord needs help?!"

Suddenly, something hit the deck, denting it and creating a dust cloud, Gol D. Loota, with his throat cut and arm missing.

A Ghost Ark approached and stopped a few meters from the ground, revealing an extremely damaged Overlord, with missing armor and ornament pieces, cuts, bite marks, and bullet holes covering his body.

He stopped at the edge, raised Loota's Power Klaw, imitating a certain commissar, and screamed.

"WHAT ELSE DO YOU OFFER ME?!"

The Orks widened their eyes in disbelief and panicked, running and fighting across the ship in disarray.

"My Lord!" Rahkikh and Thaszan dropped to one of their knees and placed a fist on their hearts.

"Rahkikh, Thaszan, it's good to see you again!"

"My Lord, we are sorry for…" Rahkikh tried to speak, but the Overlord held up his hand, stopping him.

"Don't worry, both of you could not the Warboss' plan, besides, I had fun! How about we finish this battle and return to the tomb?!"

"Yes, My Lord!"

The Orks became disorganized with the Warboss' death, an easy target for the Necron forces. When the battle ended, the remains of the fleet consumed by the storm were all that the population of Hydrus Quintus would find.

Omake/Alternative Scene: What if the tomb had awakened earlier?

We returned to the tomb for a well-deserved repair. I sat on my throne while Haratek and several Scarabs repaired my body.

"Forgive me, my Lord, if I were there to help you..." The Cryptek sent excuse after excuse.

"Please stop, I gave you a mission and you accomplished it. I am the only one to blame for the damage suffered, I should have fought better." I rested my head in my palm.

"My Lord, don't say that…" A screen opened in front of him, diverting his attention.

"Is there a problem, Haratek?"

"No, my Lord, I just received information from this planet's data network. An important person is coming to Hidrus Quintus."

"Seriously, who?"

"One Goge Vandire."

"SHIT!"

Hello, thanks for reading this far! Before I leave, I would like to clarify something about a weapon used in this chapter, the Staff of Light. If you know what the staff does, you may have found it strange that it creates ice, but according to the Lexicanum website, the staff does the following…

“An exception among Necron technology, the staff does not use the principles of Gauss Weaponry, instead absorbing energy from thin air to release in the form of powerful bolts of lightning. A secondary effect of the energy is a marked decrease in the temperature around the wielder, the cold freezing opponents' limbs, mechanical or otherwise, which break when struck by the staff.”

I found it interesting when I saw it, the Wiki and the Lexicanum sometimes have information that the other does not, so I decided to include this function of the staff here.

That's it for now, leave comments and opinions about what you think of the story, criticism and suggestions are welcome, the next chapter will probably be from The Orkalorian.

Until the next chapter!
