Yun Che maintained a poker face as he thought, "Hooo, if you want to play, then let's play." He calmly placed a finger under Lan Xueruo's chin and gave her his most confident, charming look.
"Well, if Senior Sister wanted my attention, I'll be eagerly waiting," Yun Che said with a mischievous grin.
The moment Yun Che uttered those words, Xia Yuanba's jaw dropped, and his eyes nearly popped out in shock. Murong Ye's gaze turned icy and mocking, and he sneered faintly. He clenched his fists, thinking, "This kid, this is the last straw."
Surprisingly, Lan Xueruo didn't get angry. Instead, she blushed deeply. She composed herself and replied, "What an interesting junior you are. It seems like the upcoming days won't be so dull after all. For now, Senior Sister needs to prepare for the upcoming banquet. See you later, Junior Brother."
Lan Xueruo playfully winked her left eye and departed with a gentle smile, leaving Yun Che feeling satisfied. "Hmm, as expected from the Princess of the Blue Wind Empire," he mused to himself.
*Stare
Yun Che felt Retsu stare on his back. It was a stare mixed with pouting and jealousy. He tried to explain himself, saying, "She was teasing me, so I decided to give her a taste of her own medicine."
Retsu stared at him.
"I'm really sorry," Yun Che apologized, bowing his head slightly. Retsu just patted it.
Retsu pouted and asked, "Young Master, do you really find that girl so interesting?"
Yun Che replied sincerely, "Well, she's one of the story milestone girls. If you don't like her, we can drop it here." Retsu continued pouting. She couldn't help but wonder if Lan Xueruo was the girl Yun Che had been eager to meet in the New Moon Profound Palace. The situation seemed oddly familiar, just like when he met other significant women in his life: Xiao Lingxi in Floating Cloud City, Jasmine near Cyan Town, and Chu Yuechan in New Moon City. Retsu began to suspect that Lan Xueruo might indeed be the Princess of the Blue Wind Empire or someone significant to his story.
She turned her gaze toward Yun Che, a thought flashing in her head. Could it be that he already knew who he was going to meet in the future? Was this what he meant by "Milestone Girls"?
Yun Che looked at Retsu with affection and gently patted her head. "Don't worry, my dear Retsu, you'll always be my number one." Retsu giggled and smiled happily, reassured by his words. It seemed that Yun Che would consider her opinions when it came to meeting other women in the future. Perhaps she was on her way to gaining a new sister.
One thing was clear in Retsu's mind: she didn't feel jealous or threatened when Yun Che got close to these "milestone girls" as she did with other women who approached him. There was one female disciple who had tried to get close to him while he was talking with Yuanba, and Retsu had simply given her a withering glare, causing her to back off. Strangely, she hadn't employed the same tactics with Lan Xueruo. With a smile hidden beneath her veil, Retsu mused, "I somehow like that Lan Xueruo girl, just like Lingxi and Yuechan-san."
Yun Che widened his eyes in surprise. Could it be that Retsu only accepted the "milestone girls" into her good graces? No wonder she didn't hesitate to use her intimidating aura on unwelcome intruders.
"You have a good judge of character, Retsu. But let's see how things unfold in the future," Yun Che said as he walked away with Retsu. Despite Lan Xueruo's noble aura, she had treated them as equals and spoke to them without arrogance. Still, since she resembled Sakaki Ryoko, an anime character from another universe, Yun Che had no intention of letting her off the hook.
Suddenly, a heavy hand smacked onto Yun Che's shoulder with a startling lack of friendliness. He turned around to find Murong Ye, wearing a cold, disdainful expression, glaring at him.
"And who in the world are you?" Yun Che asked, turning fully to face the man who had rudely interrupted their conversation. It turned out to be the same man who had been standing beside Lan Xueruo earlier. Judging by his irate demeanor, he was clearly not pleased.
"You... How dare you two ignore me! Murong Ye, just now?" Murong Ye yelled, his anger shocking Yuanba, who hadn't expected his noble senior brother to throw such a tantrum.
Yun Che responded with indifference, "Ah, it turns out it's the sissy little boy from earlier. I didn't even notice you, to be honest. So, what do you want from me? By the way, weren't you accompanying Senior Sister Xueruo?" His tone remained flat, as if he didn't think Murong Ye's actions warranted any attention.
Even though Lan Xueruo had already walked quite a distance and hadn't looked back for Murong Ye, she seemed to act as if he didn't exist at all.
Murong Ye's eyes narrowed, and a contemptuous sneer formed on his face. His gaze seemed to belittle Yun Che as if he were an insignificant, inferior creature. "Your name is Yun Che, right? Little junior Yun, I don't know how you managed to sneak into our Class One, but as your Senior, there are a few things I need to remind you. Now that you're in Class One, you'd better learn what's expected of you and what's not. Don't blame me later if you suffer the consequences. And remember this well: stay away from Lan Xueruo from now on. If I catch you speaking to her like that again, don't forget that I have numerous ways to have you expelled from the New Moon Profound Palace. Hmph."
The tension in the air grew thicker as Yun Che and Murong Ye locked eyes, their rivalry intensifying with each passing second.
"And you..." Murong Ye began, his eyes shifting towards Retsu, "I did you a favor by introducing myself to you. How dare you ignore me? You should consider yourself honored that the governor's son even noticed you. Good... good..." He continued to mutter, his voice tinged with annoyance and frustration. It was clear that he was throwing a tantrum right in front of them, but Yun Che and Retsu remained unfazed, showing no interest in his complaints.
Yuanba stood there, shocked by the scene unfolding before him. He had never realized that his senior brother could be this jealous and petty.
Suddenly, Yun Che burst into hearty laughter, clutching his stomach as he guffawed. Retsu joined in, her veiled face radiating a captivating charm as she giggled softly. She looked incredibly cute when she giggled, but her laughter had an edge that made it seem intimidating. Good thing she kept the laughter part hidden.
"Hahahaha! Wait... wait... I'm not done yet! Hahahaha!" Yun Che continued to laugh uproariously, completely disregarding Murong Ye's furious glares.
Murong Ye seethed with anger. He wanted to unleash his fury on this insolent brat, but the rumors he had heard about Yun Che made him hesitate. He wasn't sure whether attacking them would be a wise move.
"You...!" Murong Ye began, his voice trembling with rage.
Yun Che interrupted him with a condescending tone, "Idiot."
Murong Ye was taken aback, his face contorting with shock and anger. Being called an idiot by a junior like Yun Che was a grave offense within the palace, where he was usually bathed in respect and glory.
"Oh, I absolutely dare," Yun Che retorted without a hint of fear. "Just look at you, a jealous, sissy boy trying to threaten me and throwing a tantrum when a girl ignores you. Why don't you throw that tantrum at Sister Xueruo? She completely ignored you just now."
Yun Che's words hit a nerve, and Murong Ye's grip on Yun Che's shoulder tightened. His face turned an even deeper shade of red as his rage reached its boiling point. The standoff between Yun Che and Murong Ye had escalated to a dangerous level, with no one willing to back down.
Murong Ye's eyes practically spat fire. "You dared to ignore my presence earlier, and you dare mock me now?!"
Yun Che's smirk was barely concealed. "Oh, were you expecting some sort of grand acknowledgement? My apologies, but I treat people based on their character, not titles."
Retsu, always protective of Yun Che, stepped forward, her black eyes sharp. "Ufufu.. If you're looking for someone to stroke your ego, I'd suggest looking elsewhere."
Yuanba watched the scene unfold, a mix of concern and astonishment. He never imagined Murong Ye, often seen as the epitome of grace and control, could lose his temper so dramatically over something so trivial.
Murong Ye, seeing the humor in both Yun Che and Retsu's eyes, was ready to explode. However, he remembered Lan Xueruo's obvious interest in Yun Che and knew making a scene wouldn't win him any points with her. Breathing deeply, he reined in his anger. "Remember this, Yun Che. Not everyone can be brushed off so easily."
The tension in the air was palpable. Yun Che, unfazed by the threat from a seemingly powerful senior, countered with his trademark nonchalance. "You think your titles or background intimidate me? Think again. Better yet, stop wasting both our times with pointless tantrums," Yun Che scoffed, showing clear disinterest in Murong Ye's threats. The way Yun Che handled such situations spoke volumes of his encounters in his previous world, where he often brushed off empty threats and showed his might through actions rather than words.
Murong Ye's face reddened with rage. The audacity of this junior mocking him in public was beyond humiliating. With a swift movement, he drew his sword, its blade shimmering menacingly under the sun. "You've pushed me too far. Let's settle this here and now. I want to see if you're truly as capable as the rumors say."
Releasing his aura, which was at the eighth level of the Nascent Profound Realm, he tried to overwhelm both Yun Che and Retsu. This release of power might have scared off many in the New Moon Profound Palace, but not these two.
Retsu, yawning behind her veil, remarked lazily, "Young Master, this is getting rather tedious."
"I agree," Yun Che sighed. "After we deal with him, let's get some lunch."
Murong Ye, seemingly at the end of his patience, screamed, "Enough of your insolence!" He lunged forward, sword arcing through the air, aiming to end the conflict in one masterful strike.
However, just as Murong Ye thought his attack was about to land, Yun Che sidestepped effortlessly, his movements fluid and graceful. At the same time, Retsu intervened. Her hand, outstretched, caught the blade, stopping it dead in its tracks.
The whole courtyard fell silent.
Murong Ye's eyes widened in disbelief. Not only had his most powerful attack been foiled, but it had been stopped by a seemingly delicate hand.
Yun Che, now standing behind Murong Ye, whispered into his ear, "This is your one and only warning. Pick fights wisely, and not based on your bruised ego."
Murong Ye stood there, utterly shocked and speechless. He couldn't believe that his full-powered swing had been effortlessly halted by Retsu's delicate hands. As if to add insult to injury, she casually shifted her grip to hold the blade between her index finger and thumb, her sweet smile contrasting with her overwhelming strength. With a pinch, the sword snapped into pieces, leaving Murong Ye staring in disbelief at his shattered weapon.
"You... You destroyed my sword?" Murong Ye shouted, his voice trembling with anger and disbelief as he watched the remnants of his once-mighty weapon fall to the ground.
Yun Che let out a sigh, his tone filled with disappointment. "You can scheme all you want and try to provoke us, but we're not the ones looking for trouble. We treat people with kindness when they show us the same courtesy. But if you choose to offend us, be prepared to face the consequences." With that, Yun Che walked away and Retsu dropped the broken sword pieces and turned to walk away as well.
However, Murong Ye was not willing to accept defeat so easily. If his sword didn't work, he thought his martial skills might. "YOU... I can't accept this. Take this! Fist of..." He didn't even get a chance to finish his skill before Retsu suddenly appeared right in front of him. With a flicker of her fingers, she raised them to his forehead, her tone flat and devoid of emotion.
"You're an eyesore," Retsu declared.
*flick
Murong Ye was sent hurtling through the air, crashing into a nearby tree with a deafening thud. The nearby disciples were left in stunned silence, their jaws hanging open in shock. It wasn't every day that they witnessed a fight involving one of the palace's genius senior brothers.
"What an idiot," Yun Che muttered, shaking his head in exasperation. Retsu gracefully arrived by his side, her eyes calm and collected.
"Shall we go, young master?" Retsu asked, looking at Yun Che with her usual poise.
Yun Che hesitated for a moment, casting a glance back at the chaos they had left behind. "Oh... uh... yes. Yuanba, what are you doing standing there gawking? Let's go," Yun Che called out, tapping Yuanba's back to snap him out of his trance.
"Uh... Brother-in-law... wait..." Yuanba stammered before quickly catching up to Yun Che and Retsu.
The surrounding disciples couldn't believe their eyes. Murong Ye, the illustrious genius senior brother, had been defeated with a mere flick from one of the new stars of the palace.
"Are they crazy? They just offended 'The Murong Ye.' Offending him is like offending the governor," one disciple mused aloud.
"Do they have a death wish or something?" another disciple wondered.
"It looks like a storm is brewing in our palace," a third disciple concluded as they watched Yun Che and Retsu leave the scene.
While most of the onlookers were speculating and filled with trepidation, there were some who were genuinely interested. Among them was Lan Xueruo. She had initially walked away from the commotion but couldn't resist the urge to turn back when she heard the uproar. She never expected Murong Ye to be so different from what she had thought.
Lan Xueruo had been trying to distance herself from Murong Ye for weeks, but he had been following her like a shadow. His constant presence had made it difficult for her to engage in conversations with others, and she found his behavior increasingly bothersome. She had even tried to pretend that he didn't exist, but he was persistent. Now, seeing him defeated by Yun Che and Retsu, she couldn't help but let out a small, relieved smile. She had never imagined she would witness this moment.
"Junior brother and sister, both of you are truly interesting," Lan Xueruo remarked as she looked at them, her gaze especially focused on Yun Che. The intrigue in her eyes was unmistakable.
Boom, The defeat of the jealous sissy boy. i didn't plan long for this arc because i have lots more idea to their adventure. Bear with it just until the banquet because things are going to get hectic.
