“Yeah, we are. We need your help with something.” Lyra sees that the matter has to do with supernatural creatures. She moves them to the backyard, away from her parents' ears. She doesn't want them to know or be a part of any of this.
Aren and Christian explain to her the situation. How Alexander went to go get Quinneth and got caught in the process. They also explain about how none of them can go down there and get him out because their scent would be caught immediately. And they explain how she’s the only one that can help them get in and grab Alexander, because her scent would be mixed with the other humans.
“So, you want me to sneak into a heavenly guarded Kingdom and get Alexander out?”
“Exactly.” She works it over in her head.
“Uh, I don’t have any skills to do this. I- I don’t even-.” They cut her off.
“Look, you are the only human we know. And I hate to say this, but you are the one who told Alexander where she was. If something happens to him, she’ll blame you.” Christian yanks Aren up by my arm and drags her over to the side. They are currently surrounded by a garden full of flowers.
“What!?” She hisses.
“I don’t think guilt tripping her into doing this is going to work.” Christian is now angry at Aren, he wants Lyra to do it because she wants to not because she dragged down my guilt to do it.
“Look, I’m ok with trying any method I can to get her to do this. This isn’t the time to play soft.” Behind them, Lyra walks up to them.
“I’ll do it.” She speaks. Aren words got to her. She was the one to tell Alexander where Quinn was. She shouldn’t have, but the way he was looking at her. The desperation in his eyes ached at her heart. “When do we go?”
“Now.”
Everyone walks close together in the forest. Darkness surrounds them as the cool, chilly air brushes up against them. Most of them are in their wolf forms, mostly because it’s cold and it’s easier for them to fight in that form than human form. Nxyus decided to stay in human form, he doesn’t particularly like to be in wolf form.
As hours go by, Lyra’s legs start to give up. She doesn’t have the strength or stamina to keep up with the rest. “I need to take a break.” She rests us against a tree. Her chest heaves heavy as she hunched over. Her body aches all over.
“We don’t have time to take a break.” said Nyxus. He walks to Lyra and sweeps her up in his arms. She lets out a small yelp, shocked by the gesture. “Comfortable?” He asked her. All she does is nod.
After 4 hours of walking, and Lyra taking an hour nap against Nyxus chest they finally reach Insofar.
“Wake up girl.” He shakes her in his arms, her eyes flutter open.
“Were here, already.” He puts her on the ground before she’s fully awake and she stumbles a little.
“Ok, Beta Henry ready to give orders.”
“Yes. My warriors will go on the north and east wing, it’s 6:50, they’ll be getting tired, and let their guard now. The Dark Moon Pack warriors can go on the south and west wing, the rest of us will stay here and wait for a signal. Once we get the signal Lyra will sneak in and grab Alexander. Everyone understands the assignment.”
“Yes, sir!”
While the warriors go and take down the pack guards everyone waits in the bushes, waiting for the signal. Within 10 minutes the signal was given.
“OK Lyra, its’ your turn.” said Aren. “They won’t touch you, trust me. Go on the castle and blend in. Try to get someone to tell you where the prisons are, get Alexander out and to safety. Can you do that?”
“Yes, I- I think.”
“You think!”
“I know, I know I can do it.” Lyra leaves everyone to fight while she runs to the castle. Around her are people fighting, it’s mayhem. She ends up tripping over something, looking behind her she sees a dead body. A quiet scream leaves her lips. The blood trickles out of his mouth, so grotesque, she thinks.
She can’t stop now; she can’t give you people are relying on her. She musters up enough energy to keep on. Most of the doors are locked, but one remains open. Walking in she’s in awe, kind of how Quinneth was when she first came around. The inside of the castle is grand and regal, but the people inside are not. Lots of mayhem is going on, people running around trying to secure their heads.
“Hey, uh you where are the prisons?” She asked a random bystander.
“Why do you care? We are under attack, MOVE!” He grabs Lyra by the arm and drags her down the hall with him. She tries to get him to let her go, but his grip is strong. Using all her energy she shoves him against the wall, he droops down in pain.
“Now, tell me where the prisons are?” In and out of consciousness, he points down the hall to the left. “Thanks.” Leaving the out-of-breath against the wall, she charges towards the prison. The people who run past her give her weird looks. Everyone is running towards the doors as she runs away from them.
Finally reaching the prison, she sees that the doors are wide open. The guards must have left with the others. Going down the steps she sees a bunch of people in the jail cells. They beg them to let them out, one said he would pay her a million dollars for her to release him. She considered it, but declined.
Looking around, she can’t find Alexander. Am I in the right prison, Lyra thought to herself?
“Well, aren’t you a pretty thing.” Lyra turns around to see a guy, he has an evil look on his face.
“Get away from me.” She starts to step back, but ends up back-to-back with a walk.
“I don’t think so. Never seen you around here before, you knew.”
“Ye- yeah.” Her heart starts to pound, head starts to spin in fear.
“I’m guessing you’re here to get Alexander, he’s long gone by now.” Damn, now what?
“I was just delivering the meals; I don’t know who that is.” Her voice starts to shake.
“I think you do. And I’m here to take you out.” He guys runs over and grabs up Lyra. His arms are tightly wound around her arms. She tries to fight him off, but with no resolution. Lyra’s worries began to fade as someone comes and recuses her.
The guy is suddenly thrown against the wall. Lyra looks for her rescuer, it’s Nyxus. He stands over the guy in a triumphant pose. After a few more kicks and punches he’s now knocked out.
“Thank you.” She said she walks over to the guys, nudging him with her feet to make sure he’s truly knocked out.
“No problem. No man should hurt a woman, a pretty one at that.” Lyra just blushes, no words to say. Her first impression of him was that he was angry and stuck up. But when he carried her in the woods, and protected her from the guy it made her feel bad about how she previously thought of him. “Let’s get you out of here.”
