Before I could unhook her from all the wires, a stern hand gripped my arm and pulled me into a storage cupboard. The door closed so quickly, robbing my eyes of light, I relied on System to help me make sense of the sudden and swift actions Lex had taken. 

Four people, all strengthened in the virus, had entered the room. Master had made himself disappear and only myself, Lex, and Helios were hidden in the cupboard. 

"Now what do we do with her?" Ms. Foster's shrill voice called out, sounding somewhat chipper despite the fact she should be facing my poor, sweet, and listless child on the bed.

I wanted nothing more than to break through that door and tear all four of them to shreds. 

Lex's grip on my arm tightened as he pulled me back and enclosed me in both of his arms. In the dark, silence, I could feel and hear the sound of his heart beating faster and faster.
