章節 1: Prologue

Princess Isabella was not your typical princess. She did not enjoy traditional activities like embroidery and sipping tea; instead, she sought adventure and excitement in everything she did. You could find her wandering through secret passages within the castle walls or practising archery, much to the annoyance of her royal tutors.

But despite their complaints, they couldn't help but admire her natural talent. With every arrow flying straight and true towards the target, Isabella proved herself to be a skilled archer. Her unusual interests may have caused some raised eyebrows, but it was clear that her courage and determination were impressive. The spark within her burned bright, and it was evident that Princess Isabella was destined for great things.

Despite her parent's disapproval, Isabella continued to march to the beat of her drum. She was a spirited young girl who loved adventure and mischief - it was practically her middle name! Whether she was sneaking past guards to explore the castle's secret passages or practising archery until nightfall, nothing could quell her passion for adventure.

All in all, Princess Isabella was the last person you'd expect to act like a princess. But that was just fine with her. She knew that there was more to life than the regal decorum expected of her, and she was determined to find out what lay beyond the castle walls.

The day was slowly winding down, and Princess Isabella found herself lost in thought. While absentmindedly scrolling through the lengthy list of contacts on her phone, her finger stopped abruptly when she came across the name Maria Garcia. An idea had been brewing in her mind for some time now, and she knew that Maria was the only person who could help make it happen.

With a deep breath, she sat up straight and dialled the number, eagerly anticipating her maid's response. She didn't have to wait long as Maria's voice chimed from the other end.

"Your Highness?" Maria said.

Isabella couldn't help but roll her eyes at the formal address. "How many times must I remind you not to address me so formally?" She playfully retorted, eliciting a giggle from Maria's end of the line.

"Maria, could you please come to my room? I need to talk to you about something important," Isabella stated urgently before hanging up the phone.

With a deep breath, she rose from her bed and slipped on her favourite pair of slippers. She paced around her room, her mind racing with everything she needed to say.

As she waited for her best friend and maid to arrive, Isabella couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement mixed with nerves. This was a big step, but she knew that with Maria's help, she could make it happen.

A few moments later, a knock echoed through the chamber, and Isabella eagerly flung open the door to find Maria standing before her. A smile spread across Isabella's face as she pulled the brunette into the room and closed the door behind her.

"What took you so long?" Isabella whined playfully, a pout forming on her lips. "I ran here," Maria countered, but her words were cut short as Isabella's grin grew wider.

"Whoa, hold up there, princess. What's going on in that cunning head of yours this time?" Maria asked, folding her arms across her chest and raising an eyebrow.

"Teach me how to be a commoner," Isabella stated with a hint of desperation in her voice.

"What?" Maria asked, bewildered by the strange request.

"I mean it; teach me how to be a commoner. It can't be that difficult, right?" Isabella said, folding her arms as well and staring intently at her best friend.

"Why?" Maria asked, closing the distance between them with a curious expression.

"Since when did you start acting like my mother?" Isabella asked in an annoyed tone, earning a playful kick from Maria.

"Ouch!" Isabella whined, rubbing the spot where she had been hit.

"Either you clarify what's going on or I'm out of here," Maria stated, turning towards the door.

Isabella knew she had to come clean. She had been feeling suffocated by the constant attention and scrutiny that came with being a princess. The daily routine of attending court sessions and making public appearances had become tedious and monotonous, leaving her yearning for adventure and excitement.

"Wait, don't go. I'll tell you everything," Isabella said, pulling her maid towards the sofa in the far corner of the room.

As they sat down together, Isabella began to speak casually. "Well, I want to experience life as a commoner for a while, and so, I plan on escaping," she said with a determined look in her eyes, "and I need your help to make it happen."

Maria's eyes widened in surprise at Isabella's bold plan. "Are you serious? You want to run away from the palace and live like a commoner?" she asked, her voice tinged with disbelief.

"Yes, I am serious. I want to see what life is like beyond these walls, to experience things that I never thought possible," Isabella replied, her voice tinged with a hint of desperation.

Maria was hesitant, knowing that the risks of their plan were high. If anyone found out, it could lead to serious consequences, including severe punishment from the king and queen. However, seeing the determination and passion in Isabella's eyes, Maria knew that she couldn't leave her friend alone to carry out such a risky plan.

"Okay, I'll help you. But we have to be careful. We can't break any rules or laws, and we'll have to keep your identity hidden at all times," Maria warned.

Isabella smiled in relief, grateful for her friend's support. With her help, she would embark on an adventure of a lifetime, one that could change her life forever. But they both knew the risks of their actions. If anyone found out, it could lead to serious consequences, and they would have to face the wrath of the king and queen.

As Isabella and Maria sat in her room, discussing their daring plan, Maria noticed an old painting on the wall that looked like it had been there for centuries.

"Isabella, what's the story behind that painting?" Maria asked, gesturing to the artwork.

Isabella looked up at the painting and chuckled. "That's my great-great-grandmother," she said. "She was quite the character."

Maria looked at the painting more closely. "She looks... stern," she said.

Isabella laughed. "That's because she was known for being strict and serious, even when it came to things like art."

Maria raised an eyebrow. "Really? Even with a face like that?"

Isabella grinned mischievously. "Well, maybe back then they didn't have things like Snapchat filters."

Maria couldn't help but burst out laughing at the absurdity of the statement. "Yeah, I can just imagine her with bunny ears and a flower crown," she joked.

Isabella joined in on the laughter, glad to have a moment of lightness amid all the seriousness of their plans.

For a few moments, they continued to joke and poke fun at the painting, imagining their stern ancestor with various silly filters and accessories. It was a welcome break from the stress they had been feeling, and it reminded them that sometimes, it's good to not take things too seriously.
