章節 1: Ch.1 Contacting Immortals(1)

In a small no-name village in the middle of the border of some kingdom, the sun rose as always.

The hundred or so villagers woke up and got to work, farmers walked toward the direction of the farm as they laughed and talked to themselves.

"Did you hear, a Martial Master was killed!!"

One of the farmers spoke as he looked at his group of friends.

"Oh, where did you hear this news from."

A somewhat young voice asked, hearing his question the farmer turned to him and gave a kind smile.

"Ohhoho, are you curious little Nexus, then you should know what to do?"

He said with a smile as all of the other farmers laughed.

"Hump, five eggs, and if you ask for more don't think that I don't have other ways to find this information out."

The young man spoke as he looked at the farmer.

"Tsk, can't even take advantage of you these days. You used to be so easy to trick."

The farmer lamented as he remembered the good old times.

"Anyway a travelling merchant came yesterday and is currently resting in the Chief's house. We heard it from this."

Hearing this Nexus's eyes lit up as he couldn't help but think of all the new information he would get.

"Look the Information Hungry Demon has awakened, run for your lives."

One of the farmers muttered as all of them started to laugh. Hearing their laughter Nexus coughed as his face turned a little red.

"Whatever."

Nuxus muttered as he moved toward his farmland at a quicker pace. Seeing this all of them smiled and followed behind him.

But just as he was about to step foot in the farmland a child's voice called him from behind.

"Big brother Nexus!!"

Nexus turned around as he looked at the young boy that called him.

"What is it, Little Han."

He asked as he looked over the boy.

"Brother Uncle Henry has called for you."

"Father has called for me?"

"Yes."

The boy nodded and left without even saying anything else.

"Haa, I wonder why father called me?"

Muttering with a sigh he started to walk toward his house, the children playing around called him.

He smiled at them as he continued to move around. Finally, he reached his house, it was nothing special and looked identical to all the other houses in the village.

Without knocking he entered the house and he looked for his father, upon entering the bedroom he found his father sitting on the bed with a serious expression on his face.

"You are here, Nexus."

He spoke in a rugged voice as he started to cough. He had white hair and looked quite old, although he was only in his sixties.

"Yes, Father you called."

Nexus asked as he sat next to his father looking confused.

"I have something to tell you, my boy."

After saying that he turned to look at Nexus face with a serious look and spoke.

"You are adopted."

"Oh"

Hearing his words Nexus gave an unsurprised reaction. He had already guessed he was adopted.

After all, they don't look anything alike, plus he is currently 16 years old and his father is pushing his sixties.

"I guess you already knew it... well, you always have been a smart child. Smart but naive I would say."

He said with a smile as he gently stroked Nexus's hair.

"The next thing is... there are immortals in this world. And I wish you to walk on the path of immortality."

His next world shook Nexus to his core, after all, he thought he was in a fantasy world. But now he is learning that he is in a cultivation world.

"Father..."

Nexus wanted to ask what he meant by this but his father continued.

"I know you are surprised my boy. After all, most think Immortals are just myths. I would have thought the same if our family didn't have something that was given to us by the immortals."

"Something given by the immortals?"

"Yes.."

As he spoke he took out a piece of jade, it was shaped like a medal with words written in it he couldn't understand.

"This was given to us by the immortal that our family helped in the past. I have tried to call the immortal myself by this piece of jade medal said that I didn't have a talent for seeking immortality."

He said with a bitter smile as he pushed the jade medal toward Nexus.

"Hold it."

He said and Nexus did just that, as he held the medal it started to shine with a green light as a voice spoke out.

"Cultivation talent."

Hearing that Henry gave a relieved sigh as he looked at his son tenderly. He already had guessed that his son had a talent for cultivation.

After all, only being 16 years old he is already stronger than most grown men.

Nexus sat there speechless as he looked at the jade medal, his mind was a complete mess now.

"Also, I don't have much to live."

Henry spoke and as Nexus heard those words and as his mind registered it, his thoughts crumbled as he looked at his father.

"Father??"

He asked in a questioning tone as his face morphed into that of worry and sorrow.

"I caught the same illness as your mother, as it doesn't have a cure the village doctor said that I had at most three days to live."

As he heard his father's words tears started to stream down his eyes as his mind raced to think of a solution.

His eyes then landed on the jade medal and a thought came to his mind.

"If you are thinking of calling the immortal to save me, listen here son if you try that I will kill myself before the immortal arrives."

Hearing his father's words his mind came to a halt as he looked at his father with tear-stricken eyes.

"B-But.."

"No buts, I know you have always had grand ambitions but never followed them because you didn't want to leave me here alone."

"Sigh, what kind of father I am, holding my son back."

Hearing his father's words tears fell like rivers down his eyes as he hugged his father.

"Fath-her..er"

He wanted to say something but couldn't continue his words as he cried and cried.

"Don't cry my son, death is just part of life. Plus I had a fulfilling life, having a son like you was the biggest blessing I ever had."

"Thus please don't cry and let this old man's last few days be a joyous one."

Henry said as he hugged his son and started to laugh, hearing his father's words he didn't know what to say so he just remained silent trying to control his tears.
