Emily's POV.

"What did you do, Waylen?" I asked him again like I didn't know the answer to that question.

He blinked…just a few times but enough time for me to sit up and grab his face with both hands.

I nodded like in so doing everything would magically be alright.

"Look at me" I urged him to face me and he did.

He was no coward. Never was and never will be.

"Tell me…t-tell me you didn't do what I think you did" I nodded repeatedly as tears flowed freely.

He was quiet for a few seconds. I saw his eyes cloud…with tears of his own no doubt but it was gone just as fast as it appeared.

"I'm sorry. I am so sorry, Em…"

I pushed myself away from him…as far away as I could.

"Baby" he tried to touch me but I screamed in his face.

"Get away from me!"

My whole body shook even, the room spinned for a second.

I tried to catch my breath but there was no catching it.
