章節 136: EPISODE 136: Elites of the West and East!
The sun has risen once more, the birds chirp to the melody of the wind, while snow falls from the azure blue sky. People open their Sunday windows, while their maiden cooks them breakfast. Another usual day, before the start of the festival!
People come out of their house early to prepare for the celebration. Some placed lanterns and candles in front of their houses, some placed light across trees and shrines, while some? Hang decorative factors throughout the streets, especially the tree of festivity!
Enju's great tag battle frontier will take place on the Enju Plaza. A circular plaza that bears the battle temple. A very large Japanese old fashioned temple, with seats that surround one stage. There are two holding rooms or waiting rooms in other terms.
The four of us walked past the streets, people hanging lanterns, decorations, and lights... a marvelous experience to see people working with Pokemons to help get the task finish.
"Amazing huh... People and Pokemons working together." I marveled at the people working with their Pokemons while designing the whole town.
"Like what the legend says, kindness and generosity. The winter festival is also a day for gift giving and forgiveness and confessions. New beginnings, a new life!" Zhery exclaimed with excitement.
"You heard that loud and clear Riolu! You have to apologize to Floette!" I teased.
"Hmph! Floette hates me..." Riolu infuriated.
"Well who caught her by accident?" I teased.
"Fine... fine... I'll think about it!" Riolu beamed with frustration.
While walking through the town, a large crowd gathered in front of the Battle Temple. Two fierce trainers were having a Pokemon match. Both Pokemons of either sides showed brute strength as they battled for victory, each of them released dazzling moves, some even landed in a critical hit!
"Hey look, it's Arc! He's against Lorelei." I beamed with excitement while watching their match.
"So that's Lorelei... She looks like a strong trainer." Camellia uttered with surprise and worry.
"Well... they're not called the elite four of the Kanto region for nothing! These elites are the toppest of the top! That's my opinion." I beamed with excitement.
Zhery and Glade cheered for Arc and his Pokemons. It looked to me that Arc was in a tight spot, his current Pokemon is frozen, Lorelei has the upper hand. Arc's other fans were also cheering for him, including the officers, teachers, and everyone who has watched his matches.
"The winner is Lorelei and her Pokemons!" One of the referees announced.
"A world champion lost against an elite four? How did he even beat Leon!?" Camellia questioned.
"Here's a fun fact Camellia. Arc doesn't only have those six Pokemons in his team right now. He also has Pokemons from other regions which he used against Leon. His strong Pokemons are stored up with his official professor. Arc loves to use Pokemons which inhabit the area, he wants to strengthen those Pokemons and not use the Pokemons he used in previous regions." Zhery explained.
"Hmph! Well in my opinion, Kalem is totally stronger and better than Arc!" Camellia beamed with uninterest in what Zhery explained.
"Of course... what could I expect? You admire him that's why you have no interest in other trainers..." Zhery whispered and teased.
"Why you!? I'll get you back next time!" Camellia beamed with frustration.
Even if Arc lost, the crowd still cheered for him. They were begging him to use his Latios in the Pokemon League but he declined. He wants to use Pokemons only native to the region.
"Hey Arc! Long time no see." I beamed with excitement.
"Well if it isn't Kalem and his friends! Nice to see all of you here in Enju town!"
"Say, are you going to compete in the Tag Battle Frontier?" Glade queried.
"Of course! My tag partner will be no other than Krill! He's a strong trainer but I defeated him." Arc explained.
"Great... my two greatest rivals teamed up!" I beamed sarcastically.
"Kalem, don't lose hope! Doesn't mean I'm the champion I'm going to win, remember... I use native Pokemon, and don't worry I'm not like Tobias who used Darkrai and Latios to defeat my idol." Arc beamed and reassured.
"Where's Krill by the way?" Zhery questioned.
"I don't know, he's probably training somewhere! He's Blaziken and Gengar are extremely powerful... better watch out for those Pokemons." Arc warned and left the plaza to train harder with his Pokemons. I and Lorelei saw each other again for the tenth time I presume, another elite reunion!
"Look how tall you've grown." Lorelei teased while playing with my hair.
"Thanks, Lorelei... me and my friends will be competing at the Pokemon Tag Battle Frontier, we're going to win and I can finally have a chance to battle the four of you!" I beamed with excitement.
"Kalem, you never change... you're still that silly and determined boy your father and mother told me about. I'll be waiting once you win, the champion and the elite four of this region will be watching the match too." Lorelei smiled and teased.
"Really? Mother's gonna watch the battle?" Zhery's spirit was filled with exuberance.
"Yes! Alongside with Alice, Melody, Groyle, and Draco. They're going to be the referees of the whole competition."
"Great... they can see how profound my battling skills are." I beamed with excitement.
"Hehe... I'll be expecting big things from you and your tag partner. Fight like your mother, she used to be part of the ranking system."
"Don't worry Lorelei, I'll make you and the rest proud!"
"Wow Kalem... I can't believe you're really friends with the Elite four of the Kanto region." Camellia beamed with surprise.
"Of course, we're friends with Kalem's parents. Oh and by the way... Lyra was my classmate throughout highschool and college." Lorelei explained while remembering her past.
From the entrance of the stadium, a Dragonite walked out with a tall man. He had a black cape with red spiking hair, his hands were covered with metallic gloves, while his body was covered with a necro suit. It was Lance, the dragon master. He wore his suit that he used when he was once the great Pokemon Champion of the Kanto region.
"Ah... Kalem's here!" Lance smiled and uttered softly while walking down the stairs. His Dragonite made a fierce and arrogant look while walking alongside his trainer.
"Hey Lance! It's nice to see you." I beamed with excitement and rushed towards Dragonite and Lance. It's our tenth time to meet, and I'm very happy to see him again.
"Hey, Dragonite, nice to meet you too!" I giggled while laughter while Dragonite tickled my belly. I and Dragonite are childhood friends, which... made Riolu a bit jealous.
"Hey Dragonite... I'm his Pokemon not you." Riolu beamed with frustration.
"Nice to see you too Riolu! Looking feisty as ever!" Dragonite smiled patted Riolu's head.
"Let me guess... You'll be competing in the Pokemon Tag Battle Frontier?" Lance hunched.
"Yes! That's right... I'm going to win the competition with my tag partner so that I could get a chance to battle the four of you!" I beamed with excitement and determination.
"Kalem... determined and jolly all the time!" Lance teased and chuckled.
"Wait... you're friends with the dragon master and his dragon Pokemon!?" My friends uttered with shock.
"Yes! Me and Dragonite always played together when mom had to attend cafe meetings with the elite four." I grinned while playing with Dragonite's face.
Riolu on the other hand was getting frustrated, the longer I played with Dragonite's face. From the left side, I saw a Steelix, alongside a Japanese man with a bulky body.
"Bruno!" I beamed with excitement and rushed towards his Steelix.
"Oh my? Kalem... you're almost taller than me!" Bruno teased.
"Hahaha... it's nice to meet you again Bruno! Steelix, long time no see!"
<Steel!>Steelix smiled and lifted my body to the sky. I used to ride Onix's back when I was young, Onix evolved with the help of my mother. Bruno traded Onix with a special item. The mother traded Steelix back to Bruno. Mother loves to trade with people to help their Pokemons evolve.
"And of course... he's friends with Bruno as well." Zhery sighed and facepalmed.
Agatha came after a few minutes. The Elite four was complete! Lorelei, the ice type trainer... Bruno the fighting master! Agatha the ghost trainer... and Lance, the Pokemon Dragon Master.
From the plaza, a helicopter descended from above. It hade the E4 symbol on it, which made Zhery even more excited and determined. The helicopter doors opened slowly, and there came out the Elite four of the Laurenburg region.
"Mother! You're here!" Zhery beamed with excitement and hugged Ms.Beatrice the moment she got off the helicopter.
"Oh Zhery... I've missed you." Ms.Beatrice I uttered solemnly while hugging her daughter. Groyle, Melody, Alice, and Draco went down the helicopter as well, with a cheerful and determined face.
"Hi there Kalem... Still remember me?"
"Of course! You're Alice of the Elite four, long time no see!" I beamed with excitement and joy.
"Hehe... you look much taller since the last time we met." Alice chuckled and teased.
"So... you've been friends with the Elite four of your own region," Lance uttered with a smile on his face.
"Hehe..." I uttered with an embarrassed face.
"So mother, is it true that you'll be the referees of the Pokemon Tag Battle Frontier?"
"No dear, just the elite four. Even the Kanto Elite four will also be the referee. I'm here to watch and give support." Ms.Beatrice explained.
"There's also an opening ceremony. I and Lance will be doing a one on one Pokemon battle!" Melody beamed with excitement.
"Great... the two top one Elites will be fighting, and I'll get to watch it in the opening ceremony." I beamed with excitement.
"Mother... will the winner get to battle the Kanto elite four only? Or also the Laurenburgian Elite four?"
"Hehe... The winner gets to battle all eight not just four!" Ms.Beatrice explained.
"All right!? Amazing! I can't wait to battle all the elite four! Camellia, we have to do our best!" I beamed with excitement.
"Hey... why not we tag up with the Laurenburgian elites? So that it's not too long, and besides it's a tag battle anyways." Agatha suggested.
"That would be great Agatha! Teaming up with different regions will be amazing." Ms.Beatrice beamed with joy with sparkles on her eyes.
"Nice... I'll be teaming up with Melody, even if we're going to fight in the opening ceremony." Lance grinned.
"No problem Lance, I look forward to working with a dragon master." Melody beamed with excitement.
"Yo Bruno my man! Let's team up, fighting plus fighting equals more fighting!" Groyle suggested.
"Well duh!" Zhery teased on her mind.
"Sure Groyle! Let's work together!" Bruno agreed and smiled.
"About you Lorelei, do you mind if we partner up?" Alice begged.
"Sure... no problem! I can't wait to battle alongside you." Lorelei smiled and agreed.
"I guess you are my partner granny. My name is Draco by the way."
"Please... just call me Ms.Agatha, I'm looking forward to working with you."
My eyes were in awe and excitement! I haven't seen such a truce before! They usually battle against each other, especially in world championships.
The Pokemon tag battle frontiers comes closer to us! What battles will we be expecting? Who will be the lucky challengers? Who will win the tag battle frontier!? The answer's to come as the journey continues...
