As I woke up the next day, I got everything I needed to go to the Battle Club with the full intent of training the whole day.
I searched up online ways to train those attributes for Rock and Ground types like Larvitar. There were tons of forums about training a Pokemon, especially Pokemon like Larvitar.
As I entered the Battle Club and went into the gymnasium. I wanted to train my Larvitar in his durability and endurance so it can be the tank its meant to be.
I went into the changing room and changed into some swim trunks. I then went over to the swimming pool. I released Larvitar and told what we were going to do.
"Larvitar, I'm going to teach you how to swim", I told the Pokemon. Larvitar tilted his head, not knowing what swimming is.
I then got into the pool, instructing Larvitar to follow me. Larvitar hesitated for a second, before jumping in.
Immediately, Larvitar felt the effect. There is a reason people like Brock were shown cleaning their rock type Pokemon with a scrub and dry scrubbing them. Water affects Rock and Ground types differently. The water stings them and it takes twice more out of them to swim or be in water.
It was a good exercise to build stamina, endurance and resistance to the effects of water for Larvitar.
Larvitar was also dealing with another problem, he didn't know how to swim. He was flapping around trying to stay above water.I sighed, knowing it will be a long day with Larvitar.
_____________
After an hour of teaching Larvitar how to swim, I went to eat with Larvitar. I went to the Pokemon center of drying up, with Larvitar by my side. I read that keeping your Pokemon outside of the ball can strengthen the Pokemon's morale and the Pokemon will bond with you.
At the cafeteria in the Pokemon Center, I sat alone letting my Larvitar eat some Pokemon food I bought for him. It stung me a bit, seeing how expensive Pokemon food is. I'm going to have to become an C rank trainer.
I am currently an F rank trainer as I just started. The hierarchy of trainers and how they are ranked are:
F Rank- 0 badges
D Rank- 2 badges
C Rank- 4 badges
B - 6 badges
A - 8 badges, Gym Leader, Frontier Brain
S- Elite 4, Champion
(A note: I'll be including this in an Auxiliary Chapter)
C rank and above trainers and their Pokemon gets to eat at Pokemon Centers for free. It's a luxury that I don't have but I will soon. Joey Wheeler will become a revered name in the Pokemon Trainer community.
After eating lunch with Larvitar, I head back into the Battle Club. It had more people than in the morning. I guess trainers come after lunch most of the time.
I walked back to the swimming pool with my swim trunks, and there were more people in the swimming pool. It was mostly people with their water type Pokemon who knew how to effortlessly swim.
As I got into the pool with Larvitar, we swam laps around the pool. I'm doing with Larvitar as I don't want him thinking I'm just bossing him around. Show Larvitar respect and it won't show you disrespect.
The key for this exercise is to keep going until you can no more. Back in my old life, I was on my high school basketball as the 6th man. I remember one day during the summer, Coach brought us to a swimming pool and made us do laps for 30 minutes. It was a grueling experience, but it did help my stamina.
Also he is swimming even though the water is hurting me. He is also building his endurance through this training.
After 20 minutes of constant swimming, Larvitar tapped out. I was nearing my end too so it is alright. He is just a baby right now so it makes sense for him not to go along time.
I dried off and returned Larvitar, letting him rest. I'll get him to the Pokemon Center later. As I sat down on a chair wanting to wind off, I decided to do some research on Pokemon around the area.
I know I'm going to have to catch more Pokemon to become a better trainer, so I want to get the best Pokemon.
The place I wanted to get my Pokemon was Viridian Forest. Loads of Pokemon are present in that forest and it's one of the best places to get Pokemon. I can't wait to capture a bunch of new Pokemon.
However with tons of Pokemon, the more likely you will get attacked. That's why most people go in with a temporary group of people. Safety in numbers is people's best deterrent for wild Pokemon.
I don't know if I want to go in a group or not. I have plenty of time to choose, because it's the summer time, meaning a whole new batch of trainers to go in groups with.
Before I leave the Battle Club, I scan Larvitar with the computer again. It read:
Species: Larvitar
Level: 2
Gender: Male
Ability: Guts
Moves: Tackle, Leer, Outrage( Egg Move),Iron Defense(Egg Move)
I'm going to have to teach him a move sooner or later.Do I buy him a Tm? Tms are one use only but they can teach Pokemons moves in seconds.
I decided to walk to the Poke Mart and buy a single tm. I can't get him anything to crazy, because Tms work mad differently.
Some of the higher level Tms need Pokemon to be a certain level to let it work. As you become stronger and gain levels, you get more energy. These energies come in all types , Fire, Water, Grass and more.
Some Certain moves like Fire Blast, Hydro Pump, Leaf Storm and all other high damaging moves need high amounts of their respective type energy to perform those moves. That's why only high level Pokemon have those moves.
Tms work the same, they only insert the knowledge of how to do the move. If you don't have the energy, you've wasted your money and your Pokemon can't do the move.
The only case where low level Pokemon can do moves that were graded highly by the league are Egg Moves. That's how my level 2 Larvitar can do Outrage. It just scales to Larvitar's energy reserves
As I enter the Poke Mart, I head over to the Tms section and try to find the move I was looking for. I went to the Rock Category and finally found it.
Tm 76: Rock Blast.
A move that only was graded at 25 base power by the League. The fun about it, is that it makes 5 rocks that are all 25 base power. These type of attacks were deemed as "Multi Strike Moves".
I went over to the cashier buying the Tm for 2,000 Poke Dollars. I'm going to have to start battling trainers the way I'm spending my money and not getting anything to return.
After buying it, the cashier brought me to the machine that will teach my Pokemon the move. I handed the worker Larvitar's Poke Ball, and the man put it into the high tech machine.
He inserted the Tm too as I watched. After a small wait of 15 seconds, the machine said the move was learned.
I grabbed my Pokeball and headed out to the Pokemon Center. The sun was settling down and it was almost night. As I walked in, I was about to give my Poke Ball to Nurse Joy but a person rushes through with an injured Pokemon.
The boy wore a blue short-sleeved jacket , white collar and sleeves, a teal T-shirt, blue jeans with light blue cuffs, black and white sneakers with red dots, green fingerless gloves with light green borders, and a red and white hat with a green stylized "L".
It was the man, the man, the myth, the Mc of the anime, Ash Ketchum. He was older this time around being around my age which is 15. He was carrying his Pikachu, which was injured for what I assumed when he made beef with a whole pack of Spearow.
I let him pass through me and to the front of the line."Thanks man", Ash said."No worries, my Pokemon just worn out and I'm just doing a checkup", I responded.
Nurse Joy gasped at the sight of them and got a stretcher out for Pikachu. Someone else walks in too, It was Misty. She was older too. I had a crush on her as a kid like crazy, so it's kind of crazy when you see them face to face.
She walked over to Ash,angry for what I assume was the bike."I found you, you thief. How dar-", she stopped seeing Pikachu on a stretcher and her angry face softened a little bit.
It ain't the same as Cannon but this universe appeared to be somewhat following something. I just don't know to what levels this AU changes cannon.
Nurse Joy takes Pikachu away and Ash explains to Misty what had happened. I held onto Larvitar's Poke Ball thinking about what's about to happen.
Him pissing off the Spearow, why he took her bike, what happened to Pikachu, everything. Misty then forgot about the bike for a moment and was worried about Pikachu.
"I'm sorry for what happened to your Pikachu but you still have to pay me for my Bicycle", she said. I would be more sympathetic to her if her sisters weren't the gym leaders and they make bank. It's probably a principle thing though. Actions do have consequences.
I observed the conversation, but stopped when something burst through the ceiling. It was 2 people I recognized immediately, Jessie and James. They had a white uniform with the big red "R", symbolizing everyone they are with Team Rocket.
Ash and Misty were alerted by this immediately. Ash was helpless and his only Pokemon, Pikachu was in the Er
Misty however, had a Pokemon. She clicked one of her Poke Balls and out released a Staryu.
(A Note: I don't know why she didn't use Staryu. Starmie was at the gym but Staryu was shown 6 episodes later. The best thing she brought out was Goldeen)
"Hand over all of your Pokemon or you'll face a gruesome death", James spat out.
James let out a Koffing and Jessie brought out an Ekans. I realized I had to fight or these people will kill me, as there was no way I'm giving Larvitar away.
I released Larvitar, which earned a look by Jessie and James, as they did not know what Pokemon that was.
"Larvitar, I know your still a little bit tired but you got to fight", I assured the green reptilian Pokemon.
Larvitar scanned the situation I was in, seeing Ekans and Koffing. He realized it's not the time to be tired.
"Larvitar, let's try out our new move. Rock Blast", I said, earning a happy nod from Larvitar. I guess I wasn't the only one excited to use it.
Around Larvitar, white constructs circled around the Pokemon, 5 to be exact. When the light faded, Larvitar shot the newly formed rocks at both Ekans and Koffing.
3 of the rocks hit the levitating Koffing, while Ekan got hit with the lesser 2. The rock bruised the Pokemon badly. Jessie and James hissed at this before going on the offensive.
"Koffing, use Rapid Spin", James yelled out to Koffing, which the Pokemon happily complied. Koffing's body glowed with a white aura as it spun wiling towards Larvitar.
"Staryu, use a Rapid Spin of your own"
Staryu intercepted Koffing, hitting away from the Larvitar. "Thanks for the cover", I smiled before getting back into battle.
"Larvitar, use Iron Defense". Larvitar crossed his hand in an "X" shape as his body glowed with a silver aura, signifying his defense being raised.
"Ekans, use Bite", Jessie shouted to her snake. Ekans lunged forward towards Larvitar, latching on to Larvitar. Thanks to Iron Defense, it didn't even penetrate his skin. Larvitar threw off the snake into the air.
"Rock Blast again", I said calmly, knowing the battle is finished.
The same as before, Larvitar launched his just created rocks towards Ekans, hitting it in the air. Ekans fell to the ground, unconscious.
I looked over to Misty who was wrapping up her battle with Koffing and James.
"Staryu, use swift and end this battle".
Staryu shot out yellow star projectiles and since James's Koffing isn't on the fast side, got hit with all of them. Koffing then followed his snake friend and fell unconscious.
As the battle between Jesse and James ended and they were left defenseless, cop cars started pulling up and Jesse and James were apprehended.
As Jesse and James were arrested, Ash came out with Nurse Joy. Ash then ran up to us.
"Those rocket grunts were lucky Pikachu couldn't fight, because if it did, they would have got destroyed then being pummeled by you guys", Ash declared. I chuckled from this and Misty joined.
" Nice battling skills. What's your name", Misty said smiling trying to make small talk with me.
"It's Joey Wheeler. Nice to meet you, what's yours", I responded extending a hand for a handshake.
She perked up at this before taking her hand and handshaked me." My name is Misty".
"And I'm Ash Ketchum", Ash said adding in, now we all knew each others name.
My head was turned over to Officer Jenny, who returned Ekans and Koffing to from the confiscated Poke Ball.
"I need to get some beauty sleep. Tommorow I'm heading into Viridian Forest.", Ash continued.
"Not without paying for my bike, you idiot", Misty retaliated." I'm going to follow you until you pay for my new bike".
"All you had to do really is win like 6 battles with a wager of 11 dollars. If what you said was true, then you and your Pikachu should be able to get it easily", I said, pushing Ash's buttons. A Bicykle in Viridian costs around 66,000 Poke Dollars. It is not 1,000,000 like the games.
Ash had a tick appear on his head. A seed was planted in his head, making him determined to prove me right. I guess he will be staying in Viridian tomorrow.
With that, I head to bed, awaiting tomorrow.

The Chapter is done.
The Au is just the Pokemon Anime but rules(15 year requirement for trainers, ranks for trainers, the Tm rule I made in this chapter) and plot holes(Like Misty not using Staryu for when Team Rocket first attacked.)
