If someone who had just started their journey, or even the trainers who had been training Pokemons for less than a couple of years, were to hear Orion's thoughts, they would immediately begin cursing him!
For someone who hadn't even begun his journey, Orion was extremely well-equipped. It was extremely rare for someone to start their journey with so much protective gear. Usually, only the children of Elite Trainers would do so. Others would only start their journey with the belt and bag, the two pieces of equipment that were made mandatory by the Pokemon League.
Only after becoming Intermediate Trainers could they afford to buy such equipment. And even then, most Trainers wouldn't as they would rather spend the money making their Pokemons stronger.
That said, it wasn't exactly unfair. The reason Orion could afford them now was because he took risks at a very young age, years before other kids his age even dared to step outside the city.
Right now, even though Orion would just be considered a Beginner Trainer since he didn't have 6 Pokemons, he was stronger than 99% of the Intermediate Trainers. His Rhydon was already an Advanced tier Pokemon as he was over level 40. Kadabra was just one step away from level 40 and Machoke wasn't too far away either.
So, only the Intermediate Trainers who were on the cusp of becoming Advanced Trainers could defeat Orion in a Pokemon Battle.
Orion gave Rhydon a Rock and Ground Essence crystal each and gave Kadabra the Psychic Essence crystal. Only Machoke couldn't get anything. Though he didn't say anything, Orion could see that he was feeling left out. Orion rubbed his forehead and consoled him saying, "Don't worry buddy. We will target Fighting type Pokemons tomorrow. We should get some stuff for you from there."
"Machoke!" Hearing Orion's promise, Machoke became enthusiastic once again.
The next day, as Orion promised, he decided to target Fighting types. The next place he targeted was where the Sandslash and Primeape colonies existed very close to each other. He followed the same tactic.
He used Kadabra to immobilize Primeape and Mankey and had Rhydon kill them using Ground type moves. Similarly, he used Kadabra to immobilize Sandshrew and Sandslash and had Machoke kill them using Fighting type moves.
The two colonies quickly blamed each other and began their battle. Using the opportunity, Orion plundered the Primeape colony. He wanted to plunder the Sandslash colony as well, but Primeape and Mankey couldn't force all the Sandslash to join the battle, making it extremely risky for Orion to do so. He decided against it.
Since he didn't have anything in particular to buy, Orion just sold the perishable berries and kept the other stuff with him. Unfortunately, the Primeape didn't have anything very valuable. In fact, there wasn't much that even Machoke could use. He only got a few Black Belts. They didn't have much energy for him to absorb.
The next day, Orion targeted a Machamp colony and a Tangrowth colony. Using the same strategy, Machoke killed several Tangela and a few Tangrowth. He did face an issue as none of his Pokemons could use any Grass type moves.
Fortunately, Tangrowth knew Ancient Power, a Rock type attack. Orion had his Kadabra use Psychic to weaken the Machop, Machoke and Machamp he targeted. Rhydon then killed them with Rock Blast, making it appear that they were killed by Ancient Power.
Within a span of three days, a third war broke out in the area around Saffron City! This time, Orion was able to plunder both the colonies before escaping. Luckily, his plunder was very bountiful from both colonies.
Among other things, he got a couple of dozen of miracle seeds in addition to 13 low grade Leaf Stones from the Tangrowth colony. From the Machamp colony, he got 7 Macho Braces.
In addition, Orion stayed back after plundering the two colonies and continued watching the battle while hiding. The reason for doing so was very simple.
Every Machoke and Machamp were wearing a Macho Brace. There were several who had died or were knocked unconscious and lying on the battlefield. Orion and Kadabra waited until no one was paying attention and teleported the Macho Braces next to them. In this way, Orion collected 22 more Macho Braces!
He only retreated when the Machamps finally noticed that several Macho Braces were missing. Tangrowth were confused by the change as well and their battle slowed down. Not wanting to fall into any trap, Orion retreated.
What Orion wasn't aware of was that the day would get even more lucky for him! As he was rushing back to the city on Rhydon's back, both he and Rhydon saw a small Pokemon that was trying to hide in the grass, presumably scared by Rhydon's heavy footsteps.
Fortunately or unfortunately, it was seen by Orion, who was extremely surprised. The Pokemon Orion saw was a quadrupedal amphibian Pokémon that had blue-green skin with darker patches. The most distinct feature was a green plant bulb on the Pokemon's back!
Orion was immediately elated! He thought, 'Lucky me! To be able to find a Bulbasaur in the wild! Looks like years of hard work and taking risks have finally improved my luck! Hehe!'
He immediately said, "Rhydon, stop. Kadabra, come out!"
Rhydon was puzzled but stopped after travelling for a couple of dozen meters more. By then, Orion had already called out Kadabra. Seeing the three of them looking at it, the Bulbasaur immediately began running away.
However, Orion quickly commanded, "Kadabra, use Confusion to stop and knock it out. Don't hurt it much. It will be joining our team."
Kadabra followed his instructions and immediately used Confusion. Bulbasaur, who was running away, immediately began floating in the air. It wanted to fight back, but the difference in strength was too much. It was immediately knocked out.
Since it was unconscious, Orion threw a Luxury Ball at it. Without any struggle, the Bulbasaur was caught! Orion picked up the Luxury Ball and thought, 'That was indeed lucky. I was afraid that it might have been a Trainer's Pokemon. However, no Poké Ball would have been able to catch it if that was the case.
Still, a level 11 Bulbasaur. I wonder what it was doing here. Generally, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle never appear in the wild. The reason for that is that all their colonies were attacked by Pokemon Trainers and all of them were caught.
The only colonies that still exist are the ones that are crazily strong and have Champion Tier Pokemons. For instance, there is one famous Venusaur colony in the Eternal Forest, that exists to the North of Celadon city and makes travel between Celadon and Cerulean impossible. Apparently, the leader of that colony is a Guardian tier Venusaur.
The Pokemon Trainers can't attack that hive. Not only is that Venusaur very strong, but that hive itself is extremely deep in the Eternal Forest. If the Pokemon League was to send an army, it'd be annihilated long before it reached the Venusaur colony.
I guess the Bulbasaur somehow left that colony and travelled all the way here.'
A smile formed on Orion's face as he said, "Great work, Kadabra. Let's return to the city quickly. We should meet our new friend quickly."
He returned Kadabra to the Luxury Ball and rode Rhydon back to Saffron City. As for why Pokemon Trainers hunted down Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle colonies? The reason for that was the same reason why Orion caught Bulbasaur without any hesitation.
The reason was that every Squirtle, Charmander and Bulbasaur was born with at least Silver Potential! It made them an extremely desirable Pokemon to have for any Pokemon Trainer. This strength ironically became the reason that they were hunted and caught so relentlessly!
