He kissed me. . . well, he kissed my hand. 

I hadn't expected that. The color of my cheeks must have rivaled the ring on his finger as I flushed a deeper hue. His eyes stayed trailed on mine. I didn't want to know what I looked like. "Do you like it?" 

Carlisle didn't understand his wife. It was difficult for him to comprehend someone like her. The various rumors that swirled around her had given him an expectation of the type of person she was. Despite being heartachingly beautiful, she wasn't as confident as he expected. She was fragile, always in tears, and somehow beseeched in misfortune. Yet, she smiled so brilliantly. Her smiles were always edged with deceit.

Carlisle had never dealt with someone as fragile as her. She broke into pieces when he rose his voice at her, angrily lashing out as she trembled on the floor. She begged for forgiveness whenever she did anything.
