I knew what I had to do. I had a power that hadn't had its time to shine yet, but it was now or never. Using Shatterbird I brought some of the glass I had brought with me to the bank, I never used it at the time, but now I'll see its usefulness.
With the fine control I knew was possible, I brought the glass into the hallway, startling Spider-Man, who hugged me tighter as he prepared to defend me or run away.
Damn, if I didn't know you had a girlfriend, I would have fallen in love. I stopped the glass shards at a safe distance to prevent him from running and I quickly made them form a word.
Spidey.
"Rogue? Is that you?"
Again, I shaped the pieces of glass.
Yes.
"You can manipulate glass? That's cool. Is that how you do your flying trick and the weird bubble?"
I assume you mean Contender? Never mind, this is not the time to ask questions, this girl is bleeding out here, and she's starting to see black spots. I went back to forming figures.
Blood.
"Blood? You're a vampire?! I have to give you my blood, and you'll be better?!"
Wound.
"Wound? You want my blood on your wound? That doesn't sound good."
Dying.
"Yeah! Right! Sorry!" How could he have forgotten that he has someone bleeding out right next to him? I clenched my fist, frustrated that he was wasting so much time, and pushed a shard of glass toward his hand.
Spider-Man quickly understood my intentions and removed the glove from his suit, closed his eyes, and without looking he passed the piece of glass over his hand. A little blood began to fall from his hand, but most of it actually slid down his wrist. Still, he tried to get as much blood out as possible, not that it mattered, I felt like even a drop made a total difference.
I could feel my nerves quickly reconnecting, and while that came with feeling all the pain from my injury, it also helped me regain feeling in all my limbs. I realized I was clenching my fist really hard, so I relaxed my hand as the hole in my trachea began to close.
I felt a lot of blood in my throat, which I quickly spat onto the ground as I stood up.
Spider-Man stared at me in shock as he watched someone who was initially catatonic now rise again as good as new. Honestly, I was in awe, too. I now understand why Carnal's normal regeneration is so lackluster, It's regeneration with blood involved is off the charts.
"Well… That was definitely something." Spider-Man said slowly recovering from the shock. He put his glove on his hand with a cut that was already slowly healing and looked at my ruined suit before looking at his own equally blood covered one.
"I hope it can be solved with baking soda."
I tried to speak up to respond with my own attempt at comedy, but all that came out of my throat was a dry, uncomfortable cough. It seems that even though my throat is already sealed and air is passing through without problems, my larynx and vocal cords are still not quite right.
"T-testing." That was a lot better, though still a little awkward and still pretty hoarse.
As I continued to try out different sounds to try and help get my voice back, I could only reflect on what had happened. It was a disaster. I probably shouldn't blame myself for getting shot by someone like the Chameleon, but come on! All the clues were right there in my face!
The only cop alive, conveniently shallow wounds, delayed healing, his strange feelings, hell he called himself Leon! Like he was laughing in my face this whole time!
Why was he there in the first place? I didn't get to go over his entire plan with Dredge before… That was (don't think about that) An ambush for Spider-Man? A just in case? Infiltrating the police? I know it's not relevant right now, but it bothers me not knowing now that it ended up being a lot more dangerous to my life than I thought.
Talking about my life…
Spider-Man was standing a little awkwardly, jumping around, looking around a little as he finished calibrating my vocal cords a bit.
I owe Spider-Man a big one now. I don't know if I would have been able to survive without his help. Well, I still had some backup plans, but it definitely made things easier. Who knows, maybe Chameleon would have finished the job without Spidey here? Never mind, the important thing is that I'll return the favor, though I won't tell him about it, I'm sure he'll refuse if I do anyway.
Even so.
"Spider-Man," I said, my voice a little quieter than usual.
"Yes, Rogue? Do you need anything else? Water? Milk? Juice? Please tell me you don't want any more blood. I understand that vampires have needs and all, but a guy can only have so-"
"Thank you, you saved my life," I interrupted.
Spider-Man paused before giving me a soft look and then giving me an increasingly animated thumbs up.
"No problem! You also helped me a lot with Vulture and now Shocker so now we are even."
I swear to God, I still don't understand how he does it through the mask, but I feel like he's winking at me while still striking that ridiculous pose. I don't think stopping those two thugs is comparable to saving my life, but whatever makes him sleep better, I guess.
I let out a loud sigh and then PAM.
The loud sound of both of my cheeks being hit by my hands rang out in the hallway.
"Okay! It's time to get back in the game! Of course, I had a bad moment, but it's over now and there are still things to do."
Spider-Man looked surprised for a moment before perking up ready for action.
"You got it, Roguie! There's still someone else to catch! But firstly…"
A quick wave of his hands and both Shocker and his gloves were covered in a cocoon of webs. With that matter settled, we were both ready to run (fly, in my case) off in pursuit of that bastard, but just before we left, I stopped.
"Huh? What's up Roguie?"
I didn't answer Spidey's question. I turned around to the pool of blood I was bleeding out of 2 minutes ago and reached into my pockets to pull out one of my most dangerous weapons from my arsenal.
My water gun.
A quick shot at the pool of blood using Flashpoint and all traces of my blood were burned to ashes. With all these crazy geneticists out there, the last thing I want is a clone with my powers running around. I understand that if they want my hair, it won't be hard for them to get it once they know who I am, but for now I won't make it that easy.
"There, one problem less. Let's go!"
Spider-Man stared at me silently for a moment, probably wondering what I was doing, but he didn't say anything as I flew back down the hallway.
When we got to the main hall with the hostages, I noticed that the Teems covering the thugs and holding the kids were gone. It seems that using Contender cancels out all of my powers outside, which is good to know. Although that was bad considering that not all the thugs were unconscious, it seems that Spider-Man took care of it, and they were all wrapped up in his webs.
Some people looked worriedly at the blood stains on my clothes, mainly those who noticed where I was going. I understand their concerns, and it is my duty as a superhero to calm them down.
"Don't worry, it's mine." I said with a small smile. Normally, I give a smile with all my teeth out, but I don't think that's a good idea considering the blood in my mouth. I'm very self-conscious.
Huh? Why do they seem more worried? It seemed like they weren't quite sure what to say, so they just nodded a little stiffly.
Weird, but not important right now.
Activate Effervescent to peer between the people on the bench as I soared towards the ceiling. While the Chameleon probably thinks he completely fooled me back then, I doubt he knows that he actually gave me a pretty obvious hint that I doubt he can fake, in his own mind.
With Effervescent activated, I realized a few things. First, given Chameleon's usual emotions, something became immediately obvious.
"Chameleon is not here."
"Hey, how do you know?" Spider-Man replied, hanging next to me.
"I have a power that helps me find people. Now that I know the Chameleon is here, finding him won't be too hard… Or so I'd normally tell you."
"Normally? Is something wrong this time?"
"Look outside."
Outside the bank there was a crowd of people surrounding the area marked by the police who had just arrived. One part of the police was securing the thugs outside, another was surrounding the cocoon that should be Vulture and the other was approaching the bank entrance with guns and riot gear. I doubt the caller didn't report on the superheroes who already took down the thugs, plus the
cocoon outside should be a pretty good clue as to what's going on, still, I applaud the caution.
"Oh no."
"Yeah… At this rate, he must have already joined the crowd."
I think I could still search through the crowd and maybe get lucky, but getting it wrong could be a big blow to my reputation, maybe he wasn't even in the crowd and just called a taxi.
It's hard to admit, but...
"He got away. The bastard managed to escape."
A little of my invisibility and Spider-Man using his usual stealth, and we both leave the bank. Spider-Man was just making his usual getaway from any form of credit on anything he does, and I had promised Yuri that I wouldn't do anything big until after I gave him some time to sort everything out with the NYPD.
I mean, this might count as a big deal, but it could just as easily be written off as Spider-Man's fault. In the end, all the bad guys got wrapped up in his webs, which is his usual behavior.
At least until they review the camera or talk to witnesses, at least.
After we left, I flew around the area a bit to see if I could find any trace of the Chameleon, but to no avail and 40 minutes later, both Spider-Man and I were sitting on a random roof Spider-Man with a hot dog in his hands and, I had a blue popsicle made with sea salt.
It was a weird popsicle with a 60-40 stick-to-ice-cream ratio, which gave the impression of being a misshapen popsicle. I mean, an ideal popsicle should have a 30-70 stick-to-ice-cream ratio. What kind of impure pagans created this monstrosity? I couldn't help but buy it anyway.
Spider-Man had finished his hot dog and looked at me a little oddly as he stared at this popsicle aberration, before looking back at the city. A somewhat awkward silence formed until Spidey decided it was time to break it.
"So… Is this the part where we talk about our feelings?"
"Feelings? What is there to talk about? We went to the bank, defeated the bad guys, saved a bunch of people, and then ran away like rats. Just another normal day for you, I guess." I think I made it sound a little harsher than I intended, but this popsicle still bugs me.
"You know what I mean, Rogue."
"I get it, this popsicle deserves to be punished in some circle of hell, maybe the one for betrayal; it seems to suit it well."
Spider-Man looked at me strangely before sighing as he lowered his head.
"You're not used to losing, are you?"
Right on target, as expected.
"Lose? It was a total victory, the bad guys were caught, people were saved, collateral damage was minimal."
"But that's not what you think, isn't it?"
But, that's not what I think. Everything I've said before is correct, but it's not really true.
"I… I know it may sound arrogant, but so far the whole superhero thing has been easy, or rather simple. I go to a place, there are bad guys, I beat up the bad guys, I call the police. Now I feel like I've been in my first real situation with people actually involved in danger, and I…"
I remember those 5 security guards whose names I don't even know.
"I feel like I have failed."
These are my true feelings. I know it's silly, but I wasn't there to save those guards. I failed to keep my promise of reassurance to the victims as soon as a shot rang out and worse yet, I let someone dangerous escape who will bring harm to even more people, and it will be my fault.
Why can't I be like those protagonists who keep fighting even on the brink of death? I could have caught Chameleon even with more holes and my hands tied behind my back, I have more than enough powers for that, but all I could do was feel the shock of being seriously injured for the first time in my career, and I did nothing.
"Just like you, I have also failed, a lot, in fact."
I know, I say in my own mind.
Spider-Man continues.
"Some of those failures have cost me dearly in the end. I have not only lost to villains, to the public or to myself, but also to people who really mean something to me."
"And I know it's hard, but there's always something that keeps me going every time."
He wouldn't dare...
"With great power comes great responsibility."
He said it. I couldn't help but snort at the famous line. Honestly, it sounds a bit like shitty advice right now, considering what it's like to want to carry that responsibility, which makes me feel like shit right now.
It seems Spider-Man noticed this too, because he gave a small snort before continuing.
"It sounds a little counterintuitive, doesn't it? But, one thing I realized is that responsibility is not just about accepting your failures, but also your victories."
With that, Spider-Man pointed to the street below. There stood an excited little girl dragging her parents along while displaying a yellow shirt with a familiar black beetle logo on the chest.
"It's the girl from the bank."
My eyes felt heavy, and my vision felt blurry. Spider-Man looked away as I was forced to remove my mask due to tears.
"It's time to take responsibility, not for your failures, but the responsibility to keep going for those you've saved and those you have left to save."
"Bb- buaaa !!!" I felt the torrent of tears now falling down my face that was surely now red and wrinkled, but that didn't matter to me at the moment. As I buried my face in Spider-Man's shoulder, I felt the weight of death, both mine and so many others, hit me like never before.
Not when I was facing mutants more powerful than the fools I've defeated now, not when a thug had the barrel of a gun pointed at my forehead that first night. It was now that I first felt the claws of death grip my neck, that I felt the weight of failure on the corpses that now have to be harvested in a morgue, but it was also now that I truly understood the impact my actions have on the lives of others, and that, that's important.
I don't know how long we sat there, but when I pulled my face off Spidey's shoulders, I felt as light as I had before this whole incident. I don't think I'll be able to hear a gunshot again anytime soon without a Vietnam look, but I'll make sure it won't be that way for long.
"Better?"
I nodded because I didn't feel like I could talk very well right now. I also noticed that he was feeling a little uncomfortable with my body pressing against him, so I moved away a little while rubbing my eyes.
I looked back at my popsicle. It was half melted and dirty from falling on the floor, but for some reason it looked a lot better than before. I wet it with some water from my gun before taking a bite.
It's the best popsicle I've ever had.
I felt a star approaching my galaxy. Always an opportune moment, Power. Not now though, right now I want to focus on the superhero watching me eat a popsicle off the floor like if it was a 5-star delicacy.
"Thank you very much," I say, my voice a little hoarse.
"No problem. Your friend and neighbor is always ready to help anyone in need."
"That's what you do, don't you?"
We stood for a few minutes watching the sun finish disappearing to make way for night. Spider-Man decided to get up.
"I need to go, duty calls and all that. The life of an amazing superhero can be pretty busy; you know?"
Show off. I stuck out my chest and put my hands on my hips as I rose a few inches higher in the air than him to look down at him like one of those villains in a novel.
"Okay, go jump or do your aerial nonsense, I'll use my amazing power of flight to get home."
"Ha-ha, conceited."
"Look, who's talking…Bye, Spidey."
He let out one last laugh before jumping off the building and beginning to swing through the jungle of New York buildings.
He's so cool…
I decided this time to approach the star now that I was alone to find out what my new power is. I also activated Dispatch to avoid wasting any more time, I'm on the patrol deadline I promised Maddy and I refuse to break this promise as well.
Lightslinger. Gray
…How in the holy name of Scion is this guy a gray? I don't know him from the novel, but just from my instincts I can tell It's dangerous, very dangerous.
This power allows me to turn almost any light source into a laser beam. I have to do some testing to see how much is the minimum or maximum needed for something to be considered "light", but I'm sure I only need a light bulb to be able to make a laser beam capable of knocking people out.
It's broken.
It also makes my eyes immune to large amounts of light. I could look directly at the sun without any problems now. It doesn't sound all that useful, but a flash bang could do some pretty crazy things with this power.
I like how simple it is, it feels very superhero-like, really, and the best thing is that it allows me to attack from a distance without having to cause serious damage. It's perfect!
Very happy with my new power, I leave Dispatch as I begin to somersault through the air.
Sure, the day may have had a regular intermission. But, I got a super talk from Spider-Man! It was awesome!
I feel like a winner right now, and not only did I get a great talk, I also got some great power. Thanks Power!
Only one thing would make it better.
I pulled out my phone, which thanks to Scion came out intact from my fight against Shocker.
Rogue_BHW: hiii :3
Lady_Boss: You're late. Are you okay? Did you get into trouble?
I feel a little bad about it, but I like it when he cares about me, it makes me feel special.
Rogue_BHW: It was normal first
Rogue_BHW: bad stuff happen! :c
Rogue_BHW: I got a lot of powah :D
Rogue_BHW: Im better now :)
Lady_ Boss:… Come back home soon, looks like we have a lot to catch up on.
Yes, this was just what I needed. With that, I started walking straight towards our college dorm while I was tossing and turning, enjoying the calm of the night.
When I got back to our bedroom, I wanted to try and sneak in. Normally, I don't have a problem with running into Maddy and all that, but…
I look down at my blood covered suit.
Yeah, it doesn't seem like a very good idea. However, the moment I open the door as stealthily as a teenager returning from a party at three in the morning, the first thing that greets me is the gaze of Maddy who is sitting on her personal sofa chair while sipping tea with her legs crossed.
She looks incredibly sexy like this, intimidating, but sexy.
However, all that was shattered the moment she saw my costume.
"What happened?! You said you were fine! Please tell me it's not your blood! I'm going to kill the bastard who did this! Give me names!"
"Maddy, Maddy, calm down, I'm okay!"
"Good!?"
Five minutes, a small argument, and several apologies later, we were facing each other on the couch, while a noticeably more relaxed, but still nervous, Maddy drank even more coffee.
Honestly, I don't think that's healthy at this point, but I don't think this is a good time to say that.
I started by telling her how it all started as a normal day when I was doing my usual weekly shows. Then I told him about the guy I helped and his ideas for making me more famous.
"It's actually not a bad idea."
"Ufff, you too? I don't want to be editing and managing my social media all the time, it sounds boring."
Maddy rolled her eyes.
"How childish. You don't have to do everything alone; you can pay someone to do it for you."
"Do you know that just because I'm making some money from my shows, I can't exactly pay anyone a decent salary, right?"
Maddy looked at me silently.
I don't understand what-Ohh, right, rich. I can't believe I honestly forgot it.
Even so.
"Do you want to pay for me?"
"You're getting the idea. For just $300 a month, it wouldn't be too hard to get someone online to edit your videos for you or handle most of your social media. We could even negotiate to change it to a revenue share down the road."
"Maaaddy! I don't want to take advantage of you, you know? You already do so much for me."
"Nonsense. I'm your manager, if I don't help you achieve fame as quickly as possible, I'm already failing at my job."
Honestly, I can't argue with that.
"Tomorrow I will try to get you a comfortable and functional camera that you can use without problems."
That's when an idea occurred to me.
"Make it three."
"Three?"
I nodded. Maddy looked confused for a moment before coming to a conclusion on her own.
"I see… Chevalier, isn't it?"
"Exactly! Sharp as ever!"
Maddy blushed for a moment before getting into Maddy #3's thinking pose and starting to mutter to herself.
"Based on previous tests, we can combine the capabilities of a maximum of three objects using Chevalier. If we wanted to get the perfect camera, then we would need…"
This time she said it out loud.
"A small and sturdy camera that will be the main base, an expensive camera of medium-high quality that will be the one we use for recordings and, finally, a camera of the highest possible quality that will be the source of power and resistance for the whole set."
"Yep, that sounds good to me!" And pretty expensive too, but I didn't say that out loud.
"Good idea to use Chevalier, though I thought you were saving it for a super special idea?"
I scratched my head, a little embarrassed, before answering.
"I know what I said at the time, but in retrospect it was a bad idea."
"In retrospect, eh…"
I thought about what I said over the past week. When I first got Chevalier, although I was very happy about the power, to be honest I was happier because I like Chevalier's character than the power itself. I made the excuse that I wanted to get a cool weapon or something before using it, but today's battle made me realize that decision was a bit… short-sighted.
Maybe if I had been more active with Chevalier it could have been better today? I don't know, but I definitely regret having it collecting dust all week.
No more.
Maddy gave me a slightly suspicious look, but knowing I would tell her more on the subject, she decided not to ask.
We continued talking. I told her about how I decided to go to Queens to make connections with other New York vigilantes. She laughed a little when I told her with absolute certainty how the coin landed on Spider-Man's side, then I told her about Shatterbird.
"…So you can destroy New York in a minute with Siliconkinesis?"
I nodded.
"I see… That must be one of your strongest powers to date."
You can say that again.
"I was expecting you to get some really strong stuff eventually, but this was a lot quicker than I expected. How does that make you feel?"
"Having a red button that would send an entire city to hell? Not much honestly. At first, I kind of lost my mind, but in retrospect our president can do the same thing, and he has no powers."
"Really? That's how you excuse it?"
I could only shrug, beyond the "fuck it" button. Shatterbird isn't really that great. It's a bit of an all-or-nothing ability like Skitter's bug control – either it works and you destroy your enemy, or it doesn't and it's useless. It wouldn't have done anything against Shocker or Whirlwind, for example.
"Only you Rogue, only you."
We continued the story. Until I told her about the dead security guards. Maddy didn't have much to add, but she gave me a big hug. It was a nice hug.
I then told her about the next power on the list: Scanner.
"So the next tier of powers is red… Interesting. And what does this Scanner do?"
"I can read minds."
… Silence.
"What? What's wrong?"
"Oh? You didn't see that?" Maddy squinted at me.
"See what?" I said, tilting my head.
"Nothing."
??
Maddy can be very confusing sometimes.
Shortly after that strange dialogue, Maddy decided to continue the conversation.
"Have you tried it?"
"Not really. My power instincts have improved enough that I know what the powers I gain do, even when they were unknown to me at first. I haven't tried Scanner, but I know it works with line of sight. I also know that mind reading is a very accurate way of describing it. I can't receive images or feelings from Scanner, only words."
"I see… Sounds useful, I guess."
I shrugged.
"Honestly, I don't know why it's in the Red Tier. I don't think it's that good compared to Dispatch or Chevalier in the Blue Tier, for example."
"Maybe it's less about its usefulness and more about its… Rarity."
"Rarity?"
"Yes, I did some research on those Gachas you mentioned before, and the Tiers are Tiers of rarity and while they usually mean strength, that's not always the case. Maybe in that strange universe where those powers come from, mind readers are extremely rare, which makes even without strength their rarity is higher."
That… makes a surprising amount of sense, actually. According to Glory Girl, there are no mind-reading powers in Worm other than the Simurgh and here I am, right there with that. Sure, on its own it's a bit of a scab, but maybe it's just a super-rare Ward power that's found its way into my harmless hands.
"You're probably right."
Maddy nodded and I continued telling the story.
From here on out, there weren't many interruptions. Maddy made a suspicious face when I told her about helping "Officer Leon," nodded proudly when I told her how efficient I was in defeating Vulture, seemed surprised at my maneuver in the main room muttering about how urgently we needed that camera, and was happy about how her knife allowed me to finally defeat Shocker.
Everything was going well, until the moment of the shot came.
"That son of a bitch!" Maddy slammed the table hard, causing me to jump in surprise.
I think this is the first time I've heard Maddy swear...
"When I get my hands on him! How dare he!" She suddenly went from Banshee to Mama Bear as, faster than I had ever seen her move, she came back to my side.
"Are you sure you're okay? You didn't have any infections? Do you need anything?"
She started asking a bunch of questions while touching and pulling me everywhere to make sure I was okay. Again, I know I shouldn't, but seeing her so concerned about my well-being made me feel so happy.
"He will pay for this-"
I cut her off with a hug before she could continue her tirade.
"I'm fine, Maddy, I promise. Thanks for worrying about me."
A small sobbing sound came from Maddy as she turned her head to bury it in my shoulder. It was a little awkward because she's taller than me, but that didn't matter, it only mattered that we were both in each other's arms.
"Of course I care about you, silly Rogue."
We stayed like that for a while longer before we had to part ways.
We returned to our seats and if Maddy's eyes were a little red, I didn't mention them as we got back to the conversation. I told her about how Spider-Man and I escaped from the police before we talked a bit on the roof. Maddy made a small face when I told her about this part, though for the life of me I couldn't say why.
"Oh yeah, I brought you this!"
"Mm?" Maddy tilted her head slightly, wondering what I should get her. She was still a little grumpy, but that only made her look cuter.
From my right pocket, albeit a little more melted than I'd like from our little chat, I pulled out another sea salt popsicle, and like the last one, it had a warped ice-cream-to-stick ratio that I'd grown a little fond of. I originally only bought it because I'd seen it in various anime, and now I can make this.
I took the popsicle and split it into two pieces and gave one to Maddy.
"It's for us!"
"…Is it just me, or is the proportion wrong?"
I knew I wasn't the only one who noticed these things!
"It is! I didn't like it at first either, but now I think it has its charm. In Japan (or at least according to the anime, but I didn't tell her that) people who love each other split it like this and enjoy it together."
Maddy suddenly perked up
"Where did you get this?"
"I got it from an Asian guy near the building where I talked to Spidey."
And her mood dropped again. In fact, I think it's worse, I can almost feel the storm clouds above her head.
What did I do wrong now?
"I'm sure you enjoyed these popsicles with you Spidey"
Mmm?
"Of course not. I really like the guy, but of course I would only share these popsicles with my best friend."
Maddy turned as red as a strawberry before quickly stuffing a giant piece of popsicle into her mouth while looking away.
That popsicle must be fantastic!
I also tried a nice piece, while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere as we ate our sweet together.
"You know, the proportion doesn't seem so weird to me anymore."
"Right!?"
It seemed my power had enjoyed the atmosphere too, because it decided to reward me with another star.
"Another star?"
"Hole in one!"
The star came close enough to see its color. Bronze.
It's about time! I've been on a gray streak lately.
Let's see the name... Syndicate.
Yep, I have no idea who that is.
"Do you know him?"
"Nope!"
"You don't seem so disappointed about that anymore."
"Nah, life is good, I'm a superhero, I'm getting closer to my dream, and I'm eating yummy ice cream with my best friend. Asking for ever stronger powers would feel like wasting all my luck at this point."
"I see… Although you can still tell what it does with your instincts, right?"
"You know it well!"
Let's see... It seems to be some kind of strange Blaster/Master/Thinker. I can connect to people in my range, and those people are connected to me. If I feel pain, they do and vice versa. It seems to be useful for long range communication or coordination, but little else. It would also make it so that no one who wasn't a masochist would want to attack me, I guess.
I told Maddy all this. Maddy processed it all for a moment before nodding again.
"I see… That sounds like something interesting to try."
"Oh yeah, I also got another power on the way here!"
I told Maddy about Lightslinger.
"You seem pretty excited about this one."
"Because I am! Sometimes a girl just wants to shoot lasers, you know? I'm tired of all the Thinker, Master and weird powers."
"Pff, simpleton.
"Hey, I can be very complex too, you know!"
"Mmn… There's something else, isn't there? You have an idea, right?"
I can't really hide anything from him.
We talked and talked for an hour until it was time to go to sleep. Today was an eventful Sunday, but the day is over and I feel completely accomplished. Tomorrow won't be just any other day, either because tomorrow I have classes with Peter Parker and this time he won't escape to be my sparring partner.
Tomorrow I will see Spidey again.
Here's a new chapter. It took me a while because of The Binding of Isaac, but it finally came out. I also find it a little difficult to write about feelings and stuff like that. Thanks for reading.
Aside from that, I'm thinking about having Rogue start fusing powers she doesn't use. I already have an idea of which ones she's going to remove from the list of 26 powers, but just out of curiosity I'll ask you... How many of Rogue's powers do you actively remember? It doesn't have to be by name.
