章節 23: Assassin Outsider
It's been a day since our fight against A-1, although almost only I and Ernesta fight there.
Early in the morning, stretching my arms while walking inside of our HQ.
"Where are you going Relaine?", Steve asked.
He's our Commander. Unfortunately. Just kidding.
"Just going to practice."
"You should rest instead. You just fought with Ernesta yesterday. It will be bad if you overdo it."
"Don't worry. I won't do something foolish."
"I see. Then bye."
I was about to continue to walk when Steve called me.
"Hey."
"Hm? Is there still you want?"
"Why you're so eager to become strong?"
"Pardon?"
"I'm just curious. Since you enter in this place. You always practice and practice until you pass out."
"Why I want to become strong huh. Sorry but I forgot why."
"Eh??? Is that even possible?"
"I guess so. If you don't have any questions. Then bye."
*Yeah, why do I want to become strong in the first place?*
Even before I become a Vice Commander. I really want to become strong. Strong enough to surpass Ernesta. But why?
"Ahhh. That's stupid Steve. Now my mind is full of thoughts."

As I wake up and open the curtains. The blaze of the sun welcomes me. I take a shower and get a dress. While looking at the mirror, I wonder about something.
*What should I cook today?*
Relaine might come here to give me some report.
"Well, I should look at the ingredients first."
Walking in the hall. I give all the people I pass by a warm smile.
"Goodmorning Miss Altina."
"Goodmorning. Did you eat already? Want me to cook for you?"
"It's an honor. But I have to do something."
"I see. Then next time. Okay?"
"Yes miss Altina."
*Too bad.*
I continue walking to the hallway. I notice, no people are walking around here except for me. At this time, there should many people here.
"Maybe they just busy."
"Having a good day Miss Altina."
"Huh?"
Someone talk behind me. I look back and saw an Outsider.
"W-Who are you? And how did you manage to enter here?"
The security here is tight so that means.
"You're pure-blooded aren't you?"
"Yes, Miss Altina."
The Outsider smile at me.
*That face. I feel like I've seen it before.*
"Wait, you're Cerex."
"You're correct again."
"What do you want?"
"Your life."
He dashes towards me and tries to grab my neck. I immediately slap it and jump back.
"You're fast. As I expected to the head of superiors."
*I have to do something before someone gets involved.*
I grab my two blades inside my dress. I dash towards and slash my blades at him. He leans back and pushes his straight palm to my stomach. I use my blades to block it.
"This is great. A human who can heal and kill at the same time."
"If you want my amulet. Too bad for you since I didn't bring it here."
"Don't worry. It's only your life what I wanted."
To be honest, it's pointless even I bring my amulet with me. I can heal other people by using that but for some reason, I can't use it for myself.
Swinging my blades to his left side. He jumps back. Before he lands, I dash forward and aim for head his.
"Now!"
"Huh?"
Someone tries to slash me. Thankfully I manage to block it.
"Too bad, your timing is bad."
There's a new Outsider.
He looks small since he's in a lower stance. Holding to blades like me while his face is hidden because he wore a cloak.
"Another challenger huh."
"Blade, you know what to do."
He nodded.
He dashes towards me.
*He's fast.*
He swings his blade into my neck. I lean back and swing my blades too. He blocks it and keeps resisting my block.
If I blinked at that time he dashes. I'm sure I'll be dead.
I push my blade forcing him to jump back. I immediately dash and swing my two blades aiming at his head and stomach. He has no time to react. My attack would be to hit him if Cerex didn't intercept. He holds my blades that about to kill the Outsider named Blade.
"She's fast."
"That's why I told you to be careful."
"Ahhhh!"
I jump towards Blade. Raising my blades in the air. I swing it down towards him. He blocks it and starts swinging his blades. Two of us exchange attacks. Cerex who's just beside Blade is now at my back. He straightens his palm and pushes towards my back. I move my other blade to him and slash his hand.
"Ah."
I exhaled.
Two of them is in my both side now. I don't know if I can win.
I notice the clock on the wall. It's already six o'clock. If I remember, Relaine wakes up at five and starts training for half of hour. Then went here exact six. That means.
I inhaled.
"Relaine!!!", I shouted as loud as I can do.
"Ah! You!!!"
"Blade. Do it."
Blade dash towards me and swing his blade towards my chest.
*I can't dodge it.*
A sound of lightning is coming here.
Before the blade hit me, someone blocks it.
"Goodmorning, Miss Altina. And you too, Outsider."
It's Relaine.
Relaine punches Blade in his chin.
"Guh!"
"You okay Miss Altina?", she asked.
"Y-Yeah."
She scans my body. She may be making sure that I am alright. After that, she looks at the two Outsiders. Cerex is already beside Blade.
"Now, you two."
"What good timing... Blade."
"Huh?"
I fall to my knee for some reason. I feel dizzy. My body is getting weak.
"W-What going on?"
I look at Blade. One of his blades is missing.
I just notice that my cheek is bleeding. I look at my behind and saw the blade in the wall.
"When did you."
"Miss Altina!"
"I hope we meet again, Miss Altina. If you survive."
The two Outsiders run towards the window and jump.
"You bastards! Miss Altina! Can you hear me?"
I feel dizzier now. My surroundings and spinning including Relaine who's in my front.
"R-Relaine..."
"Miss Altina! Wake up! Miss Altina!!!"

It's been half of the hour since Miss Altina's collapse. She's still unconscious and laying on the bed. The A-1 has arrived with the Warrior from the Polos.
"How's Miss Altina?", Ernesta asked.
"Still not good."
"I see..."
"It's my fault! If I just pay attention to her instead only for those two..."
"It's okay Relaine. It's not your fault."
"What happens to her?", Hiro asked.
I show them the marks on her chest.
"What's that?"
"It's like a curse mark."
"Curse mark?"
"Yeah. At first, I thought they poisoned her, but I think they put a curse on her. It might be the ability of that Outsider."
"I see. How long do you think Miss Altina last?"
"If you look closely to this mark you can see there's a circle moving here. It's slowly moving. It looks like a timer. Base on how it looks, the timer is set for twenty-four hours, and it's been a half-hour, that means we still have twenty-three and half hours."
"I see."
"What are we gonna do then?", Ernesta asked.
"We don't know how this thing works and how to deactivate it. That means we don't have any choice but to hunt down that Outsider. If we can't make him stop the curse we have to kill him."
"Then, we're the ones who will find that Outsider."
"No. The A-2 will hunt him."
"Eh? Then why not both A-1 and A-2?"
"No."
Hiro disagrees.
"If A-2 wants to chase the Outsider them let them be. We, A-1, have to keep an eye on Miss Altina. Also, we can't ask for help from our Commanders since they have to take care of our HQ."
"So that means, we have to execute every move might Outsider do?", I asked.
"Yeah, they might not want Miss Altina's life but something else. We still have to keep an eye on other things."
*This guy*
It's a good thing they have this guy on their team.

"It is okay to trust that guy?", I asked.
"I don't know.", Zod's short answer.
Cerex introduces us to Blade which is also a pure-blooded Outsider from another country. I still don't know who he is and if we can trust him.
"Well, as long as he can lessen our burden, then that's that."
Speaking of the devil. Cerex is here already. That Blade is not with him.
"So, how it goes?"
"Perfect, as usual."
*This guy*
Here he goes again. Always think that his plans go smoothly. His last plan failed and we almost got killed.
"That guy, is he really a pure-blooded?", Zod asked.
"Who knows."
"Tsk! Spit it out Cerex! I'm tired of guessing your plan."
*What is he talking about?*
"I see. You see right through me huh. Your guess is right, he's not pure-blooded."
"Then he's just a normal Outsider? How can someone like him will able to defeat those guys?"
"You're wrong Clair. He's not a mere Outsider."
"So, you're saying he's not a pure-blooded or a normal Outsider?"
"Yeah. That Outsider has three abilities."
"Wha-"
I can speak because of what I hear.
"What are you saying? An Outsider with three abilities?"
"Yeah, but too bad, his life is not that long."
"What do you mean?"
"With that abilities, his body wouldn't able to handle. Base on my calculation. He might only last for three to seven days."
"What?! What is he?"
"Heh."
Cerex smirk.
"It can be."
I don't know what's going on but I think Zod already figure it out.
"Your guess is right Zod. That guy is...."

"So, how we gonna find that Outsider?", Rina asked.
"Maybe this way or that way."
Ren pointed randomly.
"Whatever, we gonna find that bastard before something happen to Miss Altina.", Bryer said while pulling his chain.
These people are my team. We only consist of four but all of them are reliable.
By the way, Ren and Rina are twins but Rina is more likely to act more mature than Ren.
"In my guess, that Outsider is still nearby."
"How can you tell?"
"If he went far the curse might get affected. It can make it weaken or disable the curse."
"I see. Then let's move forward.", Rina said while pointing her finger forward.
We're in the forest near the place where Miss Altina is. The A-1 is still there keeping eye on her.
As we walk, I notice something.
I place my right hand on my ear.
"What is it Relaine."
"Didn't you notice something?"
"What something?"
"I can't hear anything around us. Bird sounds and even air."
"Hmmm. Maybe the weather is just calm."
"I see..."
"Come on, let's move forward.", Rina said after patting my shoulder.
I look at my team.
"Hey, huh?"
I saw the Outsider behind Bryer raising my blade.
"Bryer!"
"Huh?"
The other two notice it already.
Before the blade hit Ren run towards Bryer.
"Guh!"
Ren kicks Bryer sending him away from the Outsider.
"What's that for?", Bryer said.
He still doesn't know what's going on.
"Get up moron! You're just about to die so thank me instead of complaining!"
Thankfully we have Ren who's ability is super speed.
The Outsider who put the curse on Miss Altina is here right in front of us.
"You... bastard!"
"Relaine wait!"
I dash towards the Outsider and try to punch his face but he immediately jumps backward.
"You... you're the one who interrupts us."
"Shut up your mouth and just die in my hands."
"Hm. You must be the A-2. How convenient, I can kill the strongest Vice-Commander immediately."
"Heh? Do you think so? Same with me, I don't need to find you since you show yourself already."
"Gotcha Outsider!"
Bryer binds the Outsider using his chain. Ren runs towards him and thrusts his spear at him but the Outsider escape immediately. The Outsider jump back but Rina is waiting for him. With her amulet that can control vines, she uses it to bind the Outsider's arm and feet.
"Now, die Outsider."
Walking towards the Outsider. Rina covers her sword with Vines.
"A kiddy trick won't work on me."
The Outsider cuts the vines using his blade and dashes towards Rina. Rina blocks the blades with her sword and uses her vines to bind again the Outsider. The Outsider jumps away but the vines still following him. Ren and Bryer are already at his back waiting for him to land. I jump to him and clench my hand. Before our attacks land on him, he disappears.
"Woah, he disappears!"
"Sorry, but you won't be able to kill or even catch me."
The Outsider that disappears is now in a different place.
"Tsk!"
"Enough of this. I'm going to kill all of you now."
"Here he goes!"
"Don't worry, I'll make painless your death as much as I can. After this, I'll slaughter the A-1. Especially the girl named Ernesta."
"Huh?"
*Gulp*
All of them swallow their saliva except for me and the Outsider.
"Oh no."
"I have a bad feeling about this."
"Why he has to mention that name?!"
"Hey."
"Y-Yes Relaine?"
"Relaine, chill okay? He just joking."
"Leave."
"Huh?"
"I said leave."
"Hey, you're serious right?"
"Can you even defeat that guy alone?"
"Don't worry, I'm just going to teach him a lesson."
"You're not going to use that, right?"
"Just leave. I'm going to finish this quickly."
I walk towards the Outsider.
"So, you want to sacrifice yourself so that your team can run away?"
"You're wrong. I just want to eat my food alone."
"Huh?"
"Now, Outsider. Let's play."
