21.22% One Sword Binds Your Heart / Chapter 52: Eight Trigrams Soul-Extraction Palm

章節 52: Eight Trigrams Soul-Extraction Palm

Liu Xiaochen was indeed feeling the strain. He could clearly feel that his internal forces were not as strong as they used to be, and that he couldn't execute the Song of the Phoenix to its full potential. But he gritted his teeth and blocked every attack. He needed to get justice for his sect. He needed to beat the chiefs in order to solidify his position, and Xuanyan Sect's position, in the martial arts sector.

Abbess Huiyuan's sword came stabbing toward his heart. Liu Xiaochen held his sword diagonally in front of him and blocked the stab with the flat of the blade. The power from the collision was immense; usually, he had enough internal forces to take it blow. This time, he didn't.

Liu Xiaochen felt blood surging into his mouth; it took everything in him to not cough it out. Even so, a trickle of blood seeped from the corner of his lips. Abbess Huiyuan spotted it immediately.

"Aha! Liu Xiaochen, you're wounded! Hurry, Lang Yu—a few more minutes, and he'll be beat!"

Liu Xiaochen pushed her sword away and blocked Lang Yu's attack. As his sword collided with Lang Yu's, Liu Xiaochen felt the tremor go through his body. He stumbled back two steps before stopping himself, but this time, he wasn't able to stop the blood. A splatter of crimson fell on the wooden stage.

"Senior Brother!" Wang Jingyuan's heart jumped into her throat. Liu Xiaochen was hurt!

Mo Xian clamped his hand on Wang Jingyuan's arm. "Jing-Jing, do not be hotheaded and rush into things. Do not distract your senior brother; the battle is in its critical final stages!"

Wang Jingyuan bit down on her bottom lip and looked onto the stage again, where Liu Xiaochen was still engaged in battle with Lang Yu and Abbess Huiyuan. But now she could see where his moves faltered a little, or where the skills were not executed to their full potentials. Wang Jingyuan worried for her senior brother. Please, Senior Brother, hold on…

Lang Yu's soft sword came spiraling toward Liu Xiaochen's legs. Liu Xiaochen leapt up into the air and cut towards Lang Yu, who smirked. The soft sword suddenly changed directions and shot upwards to wrap itself tightly around Liu Xiaochen's sword. It was a trap!

Before Liu Xiaochen could try and pull his sword from the soft sword's grasp, Lang Yu's palm shot out toward Liu Xiaochen's chest. Still in the air, Liu Xiaochen had two options: let go of his sword and dodge the blow, or hold on to his sword and take the blow. But if he let go of his sword, Liu Xiaochen will have lost. He won't be able to keep fighting without a weapon. Despite knowing that he did not have enough internal forces to take Lang Yu's palm, Liu Xiaochen gritted his teeth, channeled all the internal forces and power left in him into his own palm, and went to meet Lang Yu's attack.

The two palms slammed into each other like a deadly high-five. Another ripple of power was emitted as the two palms collided. Lang Yu used ninety percent of his internal forces, and it was enough to overwhelm Liu Xiaochen. Liu Xiaochen felt a strong force blast up his arm and overtake him; the only reason why he didn't get blasted back was because he was still holding on to his sword, which was entangled with Lang Yu's soft sword. More blood trickled out from the corner of Liu Xiaochen's lips. He began to fall.

Abbess Huiyuan's sword flashed as she stabbed towards Liu Xiaochen's legs. At the last moment, Liu Xiaochen folded his legs to bypass the tip of Abbess Huiyuan's sword. His left knee slammed into the flat of the blade and pinned it to the stage as he landed in a kneeling position. Abbess Huiyuan lurched forward and just barely caught herself. She tried to tug her sword out from under Liu Xiaochen's knee, but it didn't budge. At the same time, Lang Yu was trying to pull Liu Xiaochen's sword out of his hand, but Liu Xiaochen stubbornly kept his tight grip on the hilt. He will not be beat. He will not lose.

"You bastard! Eat my Eight Trigrams Soul-Extraction Palm!" Suddenly, Tian Haiwei was charging towards Liu Xiaochen from the back. His outstretched palm whooshed toward Liu Xiaochen's unprotected back, with a hundred percent of his internal forces channeled on the palm. "Today, I will have you die the same way Luo Qingye died!"

Liu Xiaochen turned his head at Tian Haiwei's shout. His pupils dilated. Everything occurred so quickly; he hadn't even recovered from Lang Yu's palm or the fall. If Tian Haiwei's Eight Trigrams Soul-Extraction Palm hit, he will die for sure, perhaps even instantly. Did he have enough time to dodge? Could he even dodge it? Liu Xiaochen's mind was a mess.

Up on the platform, Wang Jingyuan could no longer just sit and watch. She saw Liu Xiaochen meet Lang Yu's palm and knew he would suffer the consequences. She saw him fall heavily to the stage. She saw Tian Haiwei sneak around and charge toward Liu Xiaochen's defenseless back. Wang Jingyuan pushed away Mo Xian's hand and leapt off the platform toward the stage, ignoring his shouts.

Tian Haiwei was only a few meters away now. He sneered at the expression on Liu Xiaochen's face. Ha-ha! Today, he will annihilate Xuanyan Sect once and for all!

Shiiing! Wang Jingyuan unsheathed Feng Ming Sword in midair. The black cloth wrapped around the sheath fluttered off, revealing the gold phoenix design for all to see. With the sword in her right hand and the sheath in her left, she crossed her arms in an X in front of her face. Then she separated the X by pulling her arms down diagonally on either side. Feng Ming Sword slashed in a ring around her as Wang Jingyuan spun in a graceful circle in the air while she descended, her ocean-blue skirt billowing about her like the blossoming petals of a flower.

"Aiya!" Tian Haiwei felt an invisible force slam into his chest. Caught completely off-guard, he was blasted back and had to stumble back twenty-something steps before catching himself. "Who?!"

On the other side of Liu Xiaochen, Abbess Huiyuan and Lang Yu heard the metallic ring of a weapon being unsheathed and looked up to see a figure up in midair. There was a flash of metal, and then a ripple of power flew towards them. Lang Yu flicked his wrist and released Liu Xiaochen's sword as he hurriedly leapt back. Abbess Huiyuan gave a hard yank and pulled her sword out from under Liu Xiaochen's knee before leaping back to avoid being hit.

A smear of blue suddenly filled Liu Xiaochen's view. Still looking over his shoulder, Liu Xiaochen stared at the young woman who stood with her back to him. She held her empty sheath to the left and her sword pointing diagonally towards the floor in a defensive stance. She was protecting him. His gaze landed on the golden phoenix design on her sword. Feng Ming Sword!

The crowd was stunned for a second. Then someone shouted, "That was Song of the Phoenix!"
