"What happened?"
"Wasn't that Admiral Akainu? The guy who can burn the sea with a single punch? How did Whitebeard defeat him so easily?"
"Is Whitebeard really that powerful? Are the Admirals no match for him?"
"Are the Marines going to lose again? They've been losing repeatedly. What's going on?"
The people of Sabaody Archipelago were outraged. Initially, they had high hopes for the Marines. They believed that the Marines could defeat Whitebeard in this war and restore peace to the seas by ending the era of the great pirates.
But the outcome was disappointing. Despite the presence of three Admirals, numerous Vice Admirals, and Marine officers, the Whitebeard Pirates were still able to resist. The two Admirals, who were highly regarded, were easily defeated by Whitebeard.
From hope to despair. The audience watching the live broadcast was completely outraged.
"An Admiral can't even defeat Whitebeard?"
Rayleigh chuckled.
Why just one? First, Kizaru didn't even try his hardest. Second, Akainu was missing an arm, which significantly reduced his combat power, but he was still at about one-fourth of his peak strength. So, when combining the combat power of the two, it was at the level of a peak Admiral.
At this level, trying to defeat Whitebeard in his prime was nothing short of a pipe dream.
"But the World Government won't just let the Marine's defeat slide."
"After all, this is a live broadcast," Shakky remarked casually, exhaling smoke.
Since the World Government allowed the broadcast to continue without intervening, they must have other cards to play. If they had no other options, they wouldn't take such a risk.
...
Mariejois, the Holy Land.
The Five Elders, the heads of the World Government, were also watching the live broadcast.
"The esteemed Admiral, being crushed by the enemy like this, how can he become the Fleet Admiral of the Marines?" The bald-headed Elder exclaimed with a grim expression. They had previously pushed Akainu hard, intending to promote him to the position of Fleet Admiral.
But reality had dealt them a severe blow. As the Marine's highest combat power, he was crushed by Whitebeard to the point of being unable to fight back.
"This is not entirely Akainu's fault." The other Elder shook his head. They knew that Akainu had truly done his best to fight Whitebeard.
The reason for wanting Akainu to become Fleet Admiral wasn't solely because of his strength, but also because of his attitude. With the second era of great pirates on the horizon, they needed a tough and resolute Fleet Admiral, not someone as lenient as Sengoku.
"Have CP0 take action and deploy PX-0 to conduct a full-scale bombing of the entire island. Except for the Shichibukai, none of the other pirates can be spared!"
"Also, tell Sengoku to act decisively and reinforce the blockade immediately!"
The other Elder snorted disdainfully.
The Marine's strength was more than that. Even if we set aside Sengoku and Garp, the Admiral candidates have yet to act. The Admiral candidates may not be as strong as the real Admirals, but they won't be much weaker.
"The situation is dire."
"Don't let Sengoku hesitate any longer; we can't afford to miss this opportunity," urged the Five Elders, their agreement evident through nods.
Swiftly, the command was relayed.
Meanwhile, aboard a warship near Festival Island, Sengoku received an urgent call from the Five Elders.
In the warship office, Sengoku's expression weighed heavily as he took his seat.
"Bwahahaha~"
"It appears the World Government is presenting you with yet another challenge!" Garp boomed with laughter, clutching his belly.
"You old coot, if only you'd lend a hand, I wouldn't be dealing with this headache alone!" Sengoku retorted in frustration.
"Don't be like that. After all, my two grandsons are on the island. You should show some consideration for an old man like me," Garp retorted, unperturbed by Sengoku's outburst.
"How is it that your family always manages to stir up trouble!" Sengoku exclaimed, hastily grabbing a bag of donuts from beside Garp and devouring them in one gulp.
"Heyyy!" Garp's eyes widened in disbelief as he watched the donuts disappear.
Surveying the empty bag, he lamented the loss of his snacks.
"Humph!" Sengoku snorted in satisfaction, then returned to his desk and picked up the Den-Den Mushi.
Indeed, the current situation was dire. The deployment of PX-0 and CP0 was imperative.
Hence, if Whitebeard were to escape, all their efforts would be in vain, leaving the Marines with significant trouble to contend with.
In a bid to uphold the Marine's authority, the order was given, prompting a multitude of PX-0 units to spring into action. Operating without consciousness, they encircled Festival Island, ruthlessly bombing any non-Marine vessel or individual in sight.
Pirates, including New World heavyweights like Byrnndi World and the Beast Pirates' Disaster, Jack, found themselves ensnared in chaos caused by the bombardment.
"Let Gion and Tokikake join the fray; we cannot delay any longer!" Sengoku declared, issuing the final order at this critical juncture.
Should these measures fail to alter the course of events, the Marines would have no choice but to resort to their last option: the Buster Call.
"I understand, I understand," Garp replied casually, pinching his nose in a nonchalant manner.
After enduring a prolonged delay, Sengoku's patience wore thin, and he couldn't resist yelling at Garp before descending to deliver the crucial information to the duo.
....
Festival Island
The war reached a critical juncture. PX-0 and CP0 were deployed to systematically eliminate the pirates on the island, filling the air with agonizing screams.
At this pivotal moment, Whitebeard seized the battered Akainu.
"You bastard!"
Akainu spat hatefully, his face smeared with blood. Before he could utter another word, Whitebeard clenched his fist, and a brilliant shockwave manifested as he delivered a gut-wrenching punch to Akainu.
Boom!
The impact reverberated with an ear-splitting sound, shattering Akainu entirely. Mouth agape, blood sprayed out, and his body hurtled like a cannonball.
Witnessing this, Whitebeard retrieved his Naginata, preparing for the final blow. Firmly planting his foot on the ground, he assumed a formidable stance.
Burst!
His body shot forward like lightning, hurtling towards Akainu, aiming to obliterate him completely. However, in a sudden turn of events...
A sword slash streaked from a distance towards Whitebeard. The earth tore apart, and debris scattered in the air.
Reacting swiftly, Whitebeard raised his naginata to parry.
Clang!
The resounding clash of metal echoed through the battlefield. With a sweeping motion of his Naginata, he dispelled the slashing attack, revealing a man and a woman approaching from a distance.
The man appeared weathered and aged, while the woman stood tall, exuding a mature beauty. She wielded a katana, radiating a heroic aura.
That earlier slash? It emanated from this formidable woman.
To be continued...
