章節 31: FRIEND

The ice dagger that came from the arrogant prince who was looking at me immediately melted in my hands as I thought about Mino's current state. "It appears like your mortal mate is in trouble," he said right away, but I didn't have time to talk to him right now. "This is not the time to test my patience," I told him coldly.

I was about to turn my back on him when I caught the ice dagger he tossed in my direction once again. I can't help but be outraged by what he's doing. I raised my middle finger at him. "Entrante! Stop it Calix!" I immediately snorted while throwing the dagger back at him, which he only stop in front of his face with his gaze. "What does it imply, princess?" he inquired about the middle finger thingy, but I just smirked. "Stop it! I already knew you'd gone across the mortal world a lot."

He was stunned by my remark, surprised that I already knew that just like me, he crossed that world many times.

I smirked immediately since he didn't think I knew this information. I'd seen him before, and I knew he just pretended to be eager to murder a mortal when he scented Mino to mask the fact that he'd been used to mortals for a long time. Because of what I had stated, he quickly shook his head. "You know, Vreihya, I've known for a long time where you keep that mortal, but I never informed anyone," he remarked calmly, causing my jaw to clench.

What kind of monkey business does he plan to complete? The prince appears to have other plans, which is why he has not yet informed the other kingdoms. But I immediately smirked since I understood what he was up to. "I knew we were in the same scenario right now, Calix; you are also experiencing what I am experiencing right now," I declared instantly, to which he merely gently nodded.

"Do you think it'll be easy for me to quiet up because you're the only one who can help me?" he asked gently, and I simply grumbled. I know he can't hurt me or Mino right now since I have what he desires. That's something I can take advantage of. "If you pledge to hush your mouth and help me right now, I will tell you what you want to know," I said, and despite the displeasure in his eyes, he immediately nodded.

"By the way, great acting!" I quickly told him because he acted well in his duel with Mino, but he didn't need to injure Mino because it'll irritate me. "You know how it feels to have attentive eyes on you," he assured quickly, referring to his mother's watchful eyes.

And I knew that if his mother discovered the truth like me, Calix would face struggle and agony, which is why he has no choice but to avoid making me furious. "But if they're ever here and watching, I won't hesitate to kill you two," he swore emphatically, and I merely nodded. He is expected to be against us, so I understand if he feels compelled to attack us if the other kingdoms are here to witness.

"Great! Now help me carry Mino; he has to be treated!" I exclaimed, and he instantly obeyed. We were both traveling in the broad desert a few minutes later, while he held Mino on his shoulder, whom I glanced at cautiously because I was uncomfortable with his position. "Relax, Vreihya! Don't make it too obvious that you're too worried!" he murmured slyly, raising my eyebrows.

"That mortal is my burden, so even if I don't want to care about him, I can't do anything," I told him frankly, and he only sneered. "May I ask if you've accepted this occurring to you?" he questioned instantly. "Accepted what?" I replied, perplexed, as he nonchalantly carried Mino on his shoulder like a sack.

"Being mated with a human. Isn't this idea too hard to swallow?" he asked, and I was taken aback by his statement. Have I completely accepted everything, or am I simply forced to swallow this harsh truth? "Actually, why do I have to answer your question?" I said as I continued walking.

"You haven't really changed, Vreihya! You're still my sharp-tongued childhood friend," he told me immediately. "Tsk! Which one of us left all of a sudden?" I mocked him as my mind was reminded of what he did to leave me hanging on the air, but it appears that he has no intention of digging up our past.

"I suspect his condition is worsening, and he needs to be treated right away," he stated solemnly, and I instantly felt uneasy. "But we're in the middle of the desert, and the healers are in the villages," I quickly assured, because I didn't want to do anything unnecessary for Mino's state.

"We need a faster mode of travel; I'm growing impatient with his weight; I might drop him!" his irritated remark, which I instantly ignored.

"Try, and I won't tell you what I know!" I threatened him, but he merely ignored me, irritated. "Entrante! Come closer to me, princess!" he said, and despite my bewilderment, I approached him.

My eyes widened as he abruptly grasped my waist and my body came into contact with his. I was going to smack him for his audacity when I shuddered due to the sudden coldness enveloping me.

I moved away from him right away, shocked since a frozen forest greeted me. I felt cold right away since he transferred us to this frigid woods. "You didn't even warn me, Calix! I'm going to perish from the cold!" I exclaimed, but he chuckled.

"I can only use teleportation in freezing places, princess, and this is closer to the healers. You're quite fussy, you know?" he said, and I punched his shoulder hard, which he quickly endured.

"I'll throw this human off the hill!" he threatened immediately, and my eyes widened as I remembered Mino. Entrante! He's probably getting a cold! Calix was immediately signaled to lay Mino down for a moment so I could put some thick garments on him. In my gesture, a bed of vines emerged, and he placed Mino on it so he wouldn't lay in the frigid snow. I quickly wrapped him in a thick cloak and softly caressed his cheek.

"Perhaps if I were the old Calix who was so in love with you princess, I would have froze that mortal for a long time out of jealousy; when did you learn to worry for a man like that?" he teased, and I threw him a sharp look.

I'm just doing this because he can't die otherwise. I looked at Mino again and patted him on the cheek, but he was still sleeping. "Why do you have to wake him up?" Calix puzzledly said.

"He needs to drink my blood because another creature may be capable of smelling him," I said coldly. "Don't worry, this is a chilly and lifeless forest; no one else gets lost here," he responded promptly. "I wonder if I need to do that when I met her," he said immediately, and I looked at him.

"When you get to know her, Calix, you will experience things you will not fully comprehend," I promised him right away. "Are you speaking from experience, princess?" he asked again, but I motioned for him to pick up Mino so we could continue. He picked up the unconscious mortal again a few seconds later.

"You will see all of that for yourself when she is right in front of you," I assured him, and he smiled grimly. "I don't want to go insane with love again," he murmured bitterly as he looked at me, and I couldn't meet his gaze because I didn't want to recall the painful part of our childhood.

"One day, Calix, this will all make sense, and there will be clarity as to why we share the same prophecy," I assured him, and he nodded. Meet my former childhood friend Calix Amadeus Salizte, a prince who shares my fate but is not destined to be my mate. We are both fated to be with mortals for reasons we do not fathom.
