章節 16: Chapter 16: Lights and Sirens

Ripley's POV

The sound of police and ambulance sirens used to trigger a deep seated dread in Ripley. Deep, unending, painful dread. Over the years, she had worked through that. It was impractical to lock up every time she heard the sounds.

Today was different.

Waking up to the sound, in her childhood bedroom, it nearly choked her.

How did she get to her bed?

She sat bolt upright.

Where was Fenrir?

It was just like that silly beast to disappear.

Her chest warmed fractionally at the thought of the creature. He was so gentle, so sweet. He was so well behaved, there had to be a family somewhere missing him.

And then she was drug back to her present situation.

She peered out of her bedroom window, watching as EMTs wheeled a stretcher with a white sheet over it.

There was something under the sheet, though it wasn't even remotely human shaped.
