章節 14: Chapter 13: On The Run(2)

-Guande Kingdom; Holy City; Slum District; Eye Gauger Bar-

The place was easily describable as rundown, it was not clean nor did it really feel safe, there were holes in the walls and roof, and the smell of alcohol dominated the whole space, all in all, a pretty bad experience, but those who were there didn't care for that and had only one of two types of individuals, those on shady business and those in need of heavy doses of cheap booze. That being the case, no one bothered to complain about the terrible environment so long as they got what they wanted.

This terrible bar was the location of Feylit's meeting with the contact who will give him the details of the mission.

As soon as he got inside, some eyes of the dunkers were placed on him, but he couldn't be bothered to worry about them. He was more so dejected that he had to come to such a place when there were other less disgusting options when it came to meet with a contact, but there was nothing he could do about it. After the fiasco where he was captured by the Reyha royal guard, there was no way he would have any real authority without proving himself, so he had to bear with it for now.

Sitting on the third table to the left side, Feylit calmly waited for the contact not paying attention to his surroundings and instead focusing on medication, as he didn't have much else he could do in such a location, at least not without attracting way too much attention.

"Sir, you have to order something or I'm going to have to ask you to leave." A lady with orange hair and a face full of pimples said to him after approaching his table.

"Ok, bring me some water." He replied as he opened his eyes to look at her as they talked.

Not even responding, the woman simply raised her eyebrow as if to ask 'Are you serious?!' to his request.

"Hahaha!... Of course not... Bring me some Devil's Tongue Liqueur!" Feylit laughed immediately giving a different order.

"Right up, sir." Ignoring his somewhat awkward laugh, the lady left with the order noted.

"What a waste of money... If I knew about this I would have taken the reimbursement from earlier... What's done is done! I just hope I don't have to stay here for too long." Feylit murmured to himself as he rolled his eyes at the whole situation.

Not too much later, his drink arrived.

-Later-

Time passed and Feylit was growing impatient, to the point where he actually began slowly drinking what he ordered away.

By the time, he was done, Feylit was about to call for the bill when the doors to the bar were once again opened, and a woman fully robed in a nun-like fashion even having a veil to cover her face, came in before looking around, and subsequently walking to him.

Sitting right in front of him, the veiled woman said nothing.

"You're late... If I'm being generous." Feylit pointed out with a frown as it had been some hours.

"Yeah... Sorry about that... I got a little... Busy and lost track of time... Y-Yeah... Let's put it that way. Anyhow, I'm here and that's what matters, right?" She responded with an obviously ashamed tone and a bit of stutter.

"Forget, we can settle that score later. Just give me the give me code, or die. You know the procedure." Feylit replied while rolling his eyes at her carelessness.

"Sevirth tivoy ni seveileb ohw taht! Now, give me your code or die. Procedure stuff." The veiled woman answered.

"Hturt ylno eth si tivoy! Anyway, give me the mission details." Feylit sighed in relief as he could finally forget this place and move on.

"Wait... You don't know the mission details?..." The veiled woman sounded confused.

"You're the contact... You're supposed to fill me in..." Feylit twitched his eyes under the mask as he looked at her, as his voice showed that he was slowly meeting the end of his patience.

"... I'm not a contact... I'm your mission partner... Just what did the Wine man tell you?" The woman clarified seeing he was not exactly in the best mood.

"... That bastard! I swear the next time we meet... No, I should calm down, I'll think of that little shit later. Just do me a solid one and fill me in." Feylit was furious at the Wine man, but controlled himself and changed his tone toward the veiled woman to a softer one.

"Kay, so we have to go to the silver heart territory's private forest, as it seems both an unusual otherwordler and Kon, the escapist are there. The final objective being the elimination of both, though capture is also a secondary option." The veiled woman explained.

"... So it really is the Silverheart... We'll be lucky if we don't die... I guess the children of tomorrow have no easy missions... At least I get my revenge on Kon... If it wasn't for him, I would have never been caught." Feylit commented.

"Yeah... You're Spark boy, right? I'm known as Veiled Mistress, and you probably never heard of me, since I'm new. It's a pleasure to meet you." The Veiled mistress introduced herself and extended her hand towards Feylit.

"Yup, that's me. Equally pleased to make your acquaintance." Feylit took her hand and shook it.

"I've heard a lot about you... You've done some crazy things, it's almost hard to believe you survived it all. Even though you got captured, it seems it only made more people back at the base interested in you." The Veiled mistress told him.

"It's not all that, you probably heard exaggerated versions of what actually happened. As for the eyes on me, they just care because I'm in a much more vulnerable position having lost a lot of my authority due to this. None of it matters too much as I'll rise back up in due time." Feylit was calm and didn't seem worried about his situation overall.

"Great, I guess it's time we start getting ready..." The Veiled mistress said a bit awkwardly in tone since it was her fault they were late at all.

Not much else to be said, Feylit paid his tab and they left.

-Guande Kingdom; Passion City; Great Church Branch #07; Pope's office-

Inside a relatively small room with a few shelves, and a desk with three chairs around it, two men were talking while sited one on each side of the desk. One of these men was old and was wearing glasses supported by a string tied to the back of his head, it was Chago Yolmit, and in front of him, there was a man with silver hair and golden eyes. That was Raimoro Ditoa, the last of the top three most wanted of Reyha, at the moment.

"You're quite fast... Already working here and as a pope no less. Truly worthy of the Ever-man title." Chago was impressed by Raimoro's resourcefulness.

"I don't know what you mean by that, I've always been here." Raimoro responded with a smile.

"You and your paranoia... Anyway, you called me here, so what do you want?" Chago rolled his eyes before changing to the main subject.

"It is pretty simple, news of the work of the Scholar Guild in Reyha reached my ears, and I couldn't ignore the danger of might represent to the general public, so I wanted to commission you, to safe keep it." Raimoro expressed showing worry on his face and even tone.

"... I swear someday I'll be too tired to bother with your paranoia, but I'll get it done. When I'm back, I expect a key of keys." Chago responded with a frown, and then made the cost clear.

"No, problem, through my work I've met many artisans, and to make such a key, it shouldn't be impossible." Raimoro replied.

"... You make me mentally tired, anyway, I'll be leaving while I'm still sane." Chago got up and left.

"Good luck, and may the will of the gods be with you." Raimoro waved Chago goodbye.

-Reyha Kingdom; Gallo City; Royal Palace; Classroom #6-

In one of the many rooms of the palace, the heroes found themselves having another lesson, and they all sat at their desks as the teacher explained things.

"As you are already aware, this world has various species of intelligent beings that have different relations with one another, but the focus of today is not the socio-political state of things, rather we'll be talking about the general categorization of the species in this world. When it comes to our world, there are three main categories all species fall into:

Common Races, Beast Races, and Monster Races. I imagine the first question in everyone's mind with that revelation would be why? Before I say anything though, I would like to hear what you think." The young woman with short dark blue hair, and black eyes with white irises, who was their teacher asked.

"I guess... Anatomy? I don't know." Fritz was the first to answer.

"Yeah, like he said it probably has something to do with their body structure." Leopold agreed.

"It has to be something to do with what the boys said, but I honestly don't think we have enough knowledge to give a proper answer to this question." Heather added.

"Hum, I don't think it's feasible to guess without even knowing under which classification at least a few of the species fall, but I guess what Fritz said is likely the correct answer." Lavenica responded despite already knowing the answer.

"... And what about Kymani, what does he say?" The teacher questioned.

{The same, there's not much to be said. Though there might be some magic-related system that changes everything, there's just not enough information for me to make any valid deduction.} Kymani replied.

"He says ditto." Lavenica conveyed the meaning of his words.

"... Well, you're all correct. The biggest difference factor between the categories is, the percentage level of magic particles in their composition. As you should already know, magic particles are the building blocks of mana, and therefore present in everything to a certain degree. Now, when it comes to the percentage level of magic particles in the composition of the three categories, it goes like this:

Beings belonging to the common races category have up to 49% rate of magic particles, those in the beast races have between 50%-79%, while at the end are the monster races, which refer to those who have more than 80%. The common races are; Humans, Elves, Demi-Humans, Gnomes, Halflings, and Dwarves. The beast races are the least being only; Magical beasts, Centaurs, and Dire Beasts. Finally, when it comes to monster races, there are a lot of them, so I'll name a few; Dragons, Demons, Elementals, Beastmen, spirit-folk, merfolk, and so on." She explained calmly.

From then she moved around and started using the board, and began writing as she spoke. "Now the last thing, you need to need to for the basic understanding of the three species, categories. Aside from the major difference, there are a few others. Each category has its own characteristics that make it different from the others: The common races have mana cores and mana circuits. The beast races have mana cores, mana circuits, and mana stones in their heart, aside from being mostly populated by animalistic wild beings with low intelligence. While finally, the monster races have mana stones in their heart, and a larger portion of them are animalistic wild beings with low intelligence.

As you can see, common races and monster races are very different, while beast races exist mostly as this hybrid in-between. Nowadays, there are some relations with the Intelligent beings in the monster and beast races, to the point where some live among us. So, yeah... That's the basic gist of it."

The teacher finished and soon after a few questions, another lesson was over.
