章節 1: Prologue

Prologue

September 12, 2068. A.D.

The day men pulled back the veil.

The ingenuity of civilization had finally done the impossible. Experimental science & research and groundbreaking medical breakthroughs led to humankind not only fully mapping humanity's genome they also unraveled the dimensional theory.

Humanity, in their inherent need to think outside of the box, ripped our world Asunder. The veil, a metaphysical wall that separated us, protected us, shielded us from the beyond—with the womb of the world opened, particles from beyond migrated into our world.

Governments worldwide requested their best and brightest minds to put together contingency plans. As usual, distractions were aired on TV; new stations reported what the government required them to; the masses were reassured every morning, evening, and night.

Social media sites became flooded with top-secret documents leaked by whistleblowers inside the government; these people wouldn't let such an unprecedented humanitarian crisis of this size be quickly swept away. Therefore, the Information leaked online contradicted everything the governments relayed to the populace.

After that, changes began to show. There were countless alarming changes to the planet's ecosystems. Dismay started to sound around the globe.

The misdeeds of overreaching governments were splayed out for all to see. In non-specialists' terms, humanity's brightest mind had ripped open the seams in the fabric of reality, leading to global contamination.

The contagion vectors were unprecedented, a scope never recorded; the usual contingents that were in place to halt such an epidemic were all but useless. Medical Doctors analyzing the contagion were clueless, and countless think tanks drew up blanks. The particles were utterly out of humanity's understanding.

With Anarchy on the horizon, the United Nations, with authority from every sovereignty, broadcasted the truth to the world. With every country taking partial blame, hoping the populace would calm down, the outcome was the opposite. Soon, mass hysteria engulfed the world. Nations News was the only thing broadcasting as experts argued their beliefs on live television.

In the weeks that followed, things intensified. The blue sky humans were used to observing became red. Soon, the invigorating speech by the U.N. was all but forgotten. Seeing this, leaders worldwide quickly set up press conferences to persuade their populace that everything will be okay. The very next week, looting, homicides, and arson quadrupled.

Soon afterward, scientists dubbed the particles a source of energy. It was theorized that energy was the natural building blocks of life as we know it. This energy source poured over the world in small packets; changes weren't being televised, but people still could see the world was slowly becoming alien.

Before anyone could grasp what this meant, the entire world population became deathly sick precisely at the same time. Hospitals soon were overtasked because doctors and scientists were equally affected. Administrators had to turn the suffering away—only the highly critical admitted. While the world grew collectively ill, the tribulations the governments faced slowed to a standstill as people were too tired to protest and riot in the streets.

Five weeks later, a third of the world's population perished. The death toll was staggering after a global census initiative took off. That's when even more startling news broke: humans forty and over weren't getting better. They were dying in droves. In the end, the death count numbered into the hundreds of millions.

Two generations were dead in a week, and just like that, the world buckled at its knees; politicians, police, professors, doctors, all professions where years lead to the best of education were gone.

Not being able to relax and mourn the loss of fathers, mothers, and grandparents, another problem arose because of the unfortunate death toll, the sudden overcrowding of cemeteries. Suddenly, stories of the dead walking became commonplace. The undead also brought disease and pestilence; their bites and scratches led to more infection. The CDC confirmed the report and laid out contingency plans; burning the source polluted bodies and removing the head and brain were the only ways to stop the undead spread.

After that, the survivals of the source poisoning became altered. Killing the undead had unlocked something inside humanity; It was like a metamorphosis. Once weak, humans could now lift cars over their heads and leap great distances. Soon, the internet was abuzz when a video was uploaded of a man being able to fly.

Propelled to fame, he came on national TV and told the world this source could be used in wondrous ways. He detailed what he and his friends could deduce to the world with no regard. He displayed his talents by manipulating this energy for the world to see.

The world was amazed at the feats they could carry out, and they took to the streets to test out what they could personally do. It will be later that they will learn the source had not only changed humanity genetically but also shifted their mentalities; some in positive ways, but others became remarkably twisted, dark disparities of what they once were.

While abilities that were displayed on social media became varied and often confusing, a correct reading by the remaining scientific population couldn't discern any form of standard. Everything was too absurd. The only thing that could be confirmed was that humanity was becoming something only described in myth and fiction. With the science community baffled, Many people looked to professional gamers, as some of the things displayed were straight out of comics and video games.

Six months later.

People learned the truth of the proverbial saying, 'Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely. Some played around with their newfound abilities, but the criminal underbelly of humanity grew emboldened. With these gifts, many became raving psychopaths and existential threats to anyone around them.

The death toll spiked again to astronomical heights once the first person flew above New York City's tallest building with cameras on him. He waved his hand, and fiery plasma slammed into the occupied mega skyscraper. Two hundred floors, over five thousand lives, were snuffed out. Soon, terroristic attacks happened in other major cities: Tokyo, Paris, Johannesburg, Singapore, and many more.

While the military scrambled to ward off humans that could fly, defend against heavy artillery strikes, and throw tanks like they were paperweights. But, others didn't sit idle; in six months since the veil was shattered, humanity watched on as titanic clashes worldwide, men, women, and even children came to defend their homes and thwart the willful abuse of power. Property damage became uncalculated. One by one, These age-old cities were left in ruins as people used their abilities to either defend or attack others.

United Nations empowered once again, marshaled in the new joint country initiative, only the best of the altered were recruited. Humanity's previous reality standards couldn't describe the battles that ensued. It was like something out of fiction and fantasy. Though, It was soon learned not everyone was equal in the manipulation of the source. It was theorized it was an innate quality that some had and others didn't; the good news to those deemed weak was that the source gifted abilities could be trained.

This group of global officers barely managed to pull the world back from self-immolation. Soon, those abusers were corralled and locked away; it seemed the world would flow back to the form of normalcy. When the world saw the potential of such groups, others copied the ideas, and guilds sprouted up like weeds.

~Eight months later.

Fantastical changes were observed to be happening around the world. Humans woke to translucent boxes visible only to the person. Upon reading the floating interface, which the online community dubbed it. People discover their abilities weren't just randomly happening.

The interface, which every human had. Though all didn't have a persona, those that did were almost always the most powerful. Those lucky few with persona also had more slots than those without; also, they could learn special abilities Unique to them.

All this was discovered thanks to avid gamers and social media sites. The discovery was mesmerizing. Doctors and Scientists debated equally on how the source energy behind the veil propelled humanity into rapid evolution conceivably.

~Year later.

The world was slowly coming back to normal, and many changes happened. On the eve of the shift, the startling recording of strange sightings of mystical animals was made public. Scientists soon learned these creatures were also filled with source energy, which propelled more debate about what could happen next.

Then it happened.

Unexpected, maddened creatures with green skin and the pension to attack anything on sight, goblins, social media dubbed them attacked humanity. These children-sized menaces popped out of subways and dark crevices in the hundreds.

Soon, the remaining cities were quickly overrun by them. The altered capable were equally outnumbered; it was a match of quality over quantity. At the same time, the goblins crippled society in their sheer numbers. Another threat emerged: mythical creatures from Greek mythology, the minotaur, and centaurs.

One wielding four powerful limbs, bow & arrow, javelins. The other was a hulk of beast-wielding bludgeoning tools that were once street signs and traffic lights. When humanity sucked in a cold breath at the devastation wrought, the military hopeless, a mass flight soon took shape, and society ran toward unpopulated forests and safe havens in the mountains. Not even the altered could handle the joint might of the three monsters of fantasy and myth.

Humanity was once again engulfed in dread and hopelessness. At the same time, the altered were being wiped out in battles that left permanently scarred lands and husk of mega-cities once populated by millions in their wake.

October 29, 2070. A.H.

Two Years after the veil broke, the ecosystem started to change; other nightmarish creatures emerged, and animals grew more extensive and meaner. Mother Nature seemed to develop a conscious and rapidly expanded, retaking the land lost to men over the centuries.

Earth is no longer ruled by humanity. Nightmarish monsters, mythical creatures, aliens, and unimaginable evil walk Omega Earth!

I’m only wrtimg two stories. I write like a zombie snail, I’m indecisive and forgetful. I ask for patience. Also this is a hobby I’m not a writer, so hold your judgment.
