章節 2: Memories

"Ughhh... What the fuck happened?"

Slowly, my eyes fluttered open, the world around me a haze of blurred shapes and muted sounds.

My whole head throbbed in protest as I tried to make sense of my surroundings.

'What the...'

The room felt foreign, its air tinged with an unfamiliar scent that made me grimace.

Slowly, I pushed myself up from the cold, hard floor, my movements clumsy and disoriented.

A quick scan revealed that I was indeed in a different room - a stark contrast to the familiarity of my own space.

It was too tidy to be mine, there was no sign of the usual mess I left behind.

Everything was eerily pristine and organized as if it had been meticulously arranged for a photoshoot.

"What is happe-"

Before I could gather my thoughts, a sudden wave of dizziness washed over me, sending me stumbling towards a nearby table for support.

Soon that simple dizziness escalated into a terrible headache that sent me back to the cold floor, spasming in pain.

Memories began to flood my mind, clashing in fragments and snippets. Blurry images and disjointed scenes flashed before my eyes, making it difficult to separate reality from dreams or hallucinations.

It felt agonizing, an entire lifetime of memories was injected into my brain all at once.

"Huff... Huff..."

Each breath I took felt labored as if the air around me had thickened.

My body felt heavy, my limbs weighed down as if they were dragging through molasses.

"What the actual fuck..."

A wave of curses flooded my mind as frustration and confusion swelled within me. Swearing became a coping mechanism, a futile attempt to make sense of the nonsensical.

"What the hell? How did this even... damn it all!"

Slowly, deliberately, I pushed myself up from the floor, the room spinning around me in a whirlwind of confusion and disbelief.

Each step felt like a hard journey as I staggered toward the faint glow of a light switch, fingers fumbling until the room illuminated in a soft, warm glow.

The realization hit me like a truck as the light spilled across the room - I wasn't in my world anymore.

This place... it was reminiscent of a novel I once read in my past life. The chilling similarity sent shivers down my spine.

'This can't be...'

Dragging myself toward the bathroom like a marionette with tangled strings, I leaned heavily against the sink, my reflection a jarring confirmation of the bizarre reality I now inhabited.

My hand reached up to touch the strands of hair that hung like white silk, stark against my disbelief.

My eyes widened as I gazed into the mirror, taking in the unexpected hues that stared back at me. One eye, a piercing ocean blue, held a depth that seemed to swallow the room whole. Its counterpart, a fierce crimson-red, gleamed like a smoldering ember, both foreign and oddly mesmerizing.

My shoulders slumped, the weight of confusion and disbelief heavy enough to bend even the strongest will.

"What... in the absolute...?"

I muttered under my breath, trying to cope with reality.

"Was I killed by that creature? How did it even touch me? Damn it!"

The words fell from my lips in a mixture of desperation and anger, the absurdity of the situation too much to bear.

'Keep calm... Keep calm...'

Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm the rising storm within. Cracking my knuckles became a rhythm, a mechanical response to the chaos swirling inside.

Inhaling slowly, I attempted to regain control, focusing on the sensation of air filling my lungs.

Despite the shock and disbelief of being in an inexplicable situation, there was a peculiar absence of emotional turmoil.

My life before this... shit, wasn't something I clung to desperately. There wasn't much left in that previous world to grieve for, no attachments that would provoke tears or deep sorrow.

It was a life without much to lose.

'Maybe everything isn't that bad...'

Just as a sliver of acceptance started to settle in, a realization struck me like lightning.

"Fuck..."

I froze, the air catching in my throat as the pieces fell into place. Another surge of curses erupted involuntarily, a string of expletives flowing from my lips as I connected the dots of this incomprehensible event.

Although I didn't mind being reborn in a novel I've read countless times, I had an issue.

You see...

The novel is about a group of protagonists defending the world from Demons, vile creatures that invaded Earth with the intent to unleash chaos and destruction. Usual cliche stuff.

At the end of the book, they, of course, succeeded and this is where my issue lies.

"I'm so fucked."

I was also a Demon or at least the body I possessed was that of a Demon.

And now...

If the memories I've just received are correct, I am also within the 'Sword Academy' an institution that trains humans to wield Mana and fight against Demons like me.

I am somewhat of a spy with a mission to infiltrate the Academy, gather information, and find a way to tip the scales in favor of my demonic brethren.

"This can't end well..."

Placing my hands on my face, I muttered.

"Status!"
