"So, Seth tells me that you are a teacher." Mariah was saying. Honestly, I was half-listening to her the moment she started up a conversation. Seth's girlfriend, Gina, had invited two of her friends to the party. Since the moment they got here, she has been trying to get my attention, and now that we were alone at the table, she finally got the opportunity.

I didn't want to seem rude, so I responded to her questions. Mostly, they were one word or short sentence responses as I wasn't in the mood to talk. It wasn't that I had anything with her. She was actually an intelligent girl who wasn't shallow and seemed really friendly.

"Yes, I am." I replied.

"That's awesome. I can actually see it. " She said with a smile. "By the way, can I just say that I loved your toast."

"Thanks." I replied, still trying to remain polite.
