10% No Game, No Riku: Chronicles of a Fractured World / Chapter 2: Treasures of the World Map

章節 2: Treasures of the World Map

"Yes," the system echoed in a cold, mechanical voice.

In an instant, Riku's vision sharpened as he studied the virtual map. It displayed the worldwide distribution of forces, each marked distinctly.

The most coveted diamond-grade treasure chests were undoubtedly situated in the most perilous locations—the Dragon Den of the fourth-ranked species, the Dragon race, and the capital of the fifth-ranked Gigant race. Platinum treasure chests were also strategically placed within the capitals or lairs of other formidable races. Gold, silver, and bronze grades, on the other hand, posed significantly less danger.

Yet, what truly caught Riku's attention was the headquarters of the Flügel species, ranked sixth among the races and known as God-Killers. They had even bested the first-ranked Old Deus species. Surely, a dazzling treasure chest above the platinum tier awaited there.

However, reaching it was akin to a quest impossible. Hundreds of Flügels, revered as God-Killers, guarded the area, and the headquarters itself was protected by the second-ranked species, Avant Heim.

These details, though intriguing, paled in comparison to the highest prize—an entity that towered above them all. It was the most formidable of the Divine species, Artosh, the God of War. Artosh embodied the concept of War and had slain countless formidable adversaries over his million-year existence. Undoubtedly, he was the paramount power in this world, the supreme deity, and the king of all kings.

The Phantasma species, Avant Heim, served as Artosh's apostle, while the Divine-killing weapons, the Flügel species, were his creation. Hence, the Flügel headquarters' location within Avant Heim ranked as one of the world's most treacherous.

"Haha, this is truly remarkable," Riku murmured, his pupils narrowing as a meaningful smile played on his lips.

The distribution of the treasure chests might be random, but only for medium and low-level chests. High-end chests were precisely where they should be, aligning with their level. Currently, the more dangerous the location, the higher the treasure chest's grade.

Though the treasure chests refreshed periodically, the diamond chests took a staggering three years to refresh, platinum chests a year, and colorful chests never refreshed at all.

Gold chests refreshed every six months, silver chests every three months, and bronze chests every month.

"General information is clear. System, are there novice treasure chests?" Riku inquired casually.

"No," came the reply.

"Okay," Riku nodded without disappointment. He glanced at the freshly refreshed bronze treasure chest beside him, a stroke of good fortune that had materialized in his very room.

Without hesitation, Riku placed his hand on the bronze treasure chest. In an instant, it sprang open, revealing a luminous sphere inside.

"[Ding] Congratulations to the host for opening the bronze treasure chest and acquiring the item: Teigu Dimensional Formation: Shambhala."

"The Teigu's 'Dimensional Formation: Shambhala,' from 'Akame Ga Kill!' can set spatial coordinates and facilitate spatial movement. Its use consumes the user's mental and physical stamina. Its ultimate ability banishes individuals to alternate-dimensional spaces."

"This seems like a promising start, not bad at all," Riku remarked, gazing at the compass-like purple item in his hand with satisfaction.

He was well-acquainted with 'Akame Ga Kill!' and the Teigu 'Dimensional Formation: Shambhala.' To him, Shambhala's power held greater value than abilities that granted raw strength. In a world teeming with formidable foes, achieving dominance through raw power was insufficient.

With the Dimensional Formation, he had a convenient means to gather treasure chests and shift positions.

"[Ding] The Teigu Dimensional Formation: Shambhala has been found. Would you like to recycle it or place it in the storage space?" the system's mechanical voice inquired.

"What does recycling entail? And could you please explain the concept of storage space?" Riku asked calmly.

"Recycling involves converting valuable items into equivalent exchange points, which can be used to acquire treasure chests. The storage space allows the host to store items. Currently, it offers a capacity of five cubic meters, which will expand as you open more treasure chests."

With this explanation, the system presented a virtual screen.

"[Redemption System: Exchange treasure chests of corresponding value using redemption points.]

[Ordinary treasure chest: 1000 points, Exquisite treasure chest: 5000 points, Excellent treasure chest: 20000 points, Supreme treasure chest: 100,000 points, Divine treasure chest: 500,000 points.]

In essence, ordinary, exquisite, and excellent treasure chests may contain a variety of items and abilities, with the quality and limit determined by the chest's grade. Supreme and divine chests guarantee exceptional discoveries, including formidable bloodlines.
