But while Societies merely assembled students in pursuit of deeper knowledge and opportunities regarding a specific topic, cults gathered students devoted to the worship of other academy members—typically five-star students, but sometimes even professors. 

Cults didn't always have any connection to the one they worshiped, sometimes carrying out actions that went against their idols' wishes.
