Because there was combat training scheduled for the day, after discussing things with Tsunade, Reiki changed into his training clothes and headed to the training ground. Watching him leave, Tsunade felt the heaviness in her heart begin to lift.
"Did this guy just try to distract me?" she thought, a slight smile appearing on her face. These past few days had left her feeling unsettled. Senju Hashirama, her beloved grandfather, had meant so much to her, and she'd been trying to calm her mind, but to no avail. Yet Reiki's few words and gentle distraction helped her feel a little lighter.
"So, he thinks you're not suitable either?" At that moment, Jiraiya slowly walked out of the shadows. When Tsunade went to retrieve the First Hokage's remains, Jiraiya had hurried back upon hearing the news. The two had returned to the village together.
"Are you suitable?" Tsunade replied, glancing at him. "Anyway, Reiki was probably just trying to ease my mind. To be honest, if I became Hokage, I might end up running the whole village into the ground."
"What about you, Hokage candidate?" Tsunade looked at Jiraiya with interest. It still wasn't clear to her why Sarutobi Hiruzen wanted Jiraiya as a candidate; he likely didn't believe Jiraiya could actually manage the village. The old man was probably up to something.
"It'd be best if I dropped out of the running," Jiraiya said with a grin. "Besides, I think Reiki's right—let Minato try it."
A slight smile played on Jiraiya's lips. Just imagine—if he became Hokage, the entire village would revolve around his book sales! Between his wanderlust and love for writing, he was far from the right choice for Hokage. Most importantly, there was the prophecy from the Toad Sage…
"Are you kidding me too?" Tsunade was taken aback. Minato was talented, perhaps unmatched among the new generation—even by the clan-based ninjas. Additionally, he was dating Kushina, the Nine-Tails' Jinchuriki. But he was still so young.
"As a candidate… I just want to give him that status so he'll push himself to grow. The old man won't step down anytime soon; it'll probably be a few more years. Giving Minato this opportunity can only help him."
Jiraiya gazed into the distance thoughtfully. Perhaps he was making the right choice. Minato, after all, might be the child of prophecy…

*Later that evening*
After handling the training activities, Reiki received orders to gather at a designated location. Soon, a group assembled in an open field in Konoha. Among them were Shisui, Nozuki, and other skilled ninjas, including Namikaze Minato and Kato Dan.
"Lord Hokage."
After everyone gathered, Sarutobi Hiruzen appeared.
"This mission may seem simple," Hiruzen began, "but it will determine our position in this alliance. The commander-in-chief of this operation is Tsunade. Deputy commanders are Namikaze Minato and Kato Dan. Go."
With those brief instructions, he handed a scroll to Tsunade. It contained alliance agreements and guidelines that both parties had to follow.
"Understood, Hokage-sama," the group responded before vanishing into the forest outside the village.
As they left, Danzo stepped out from the shadows.
"Hiruzen, can we begin dealing with the Uchiha?"
Danzo asked with a sinister undertone.
"Yes, I've assigned the task. Now, we wait patiently," Sarutobi Hiruzen replied before disappearing.
The Land of Rain wasn't far, only a two-day journey at full speed from Konoha. With such a powerful team, no ordinary ninja dared to obstruct their path, and the journey went smoothly.
"Tsunade, have some water."
During a rest stop, Kato Dan approached Tsunade, offering her a water bottle.
"No need," Tsunade replied curtly, her face impassive. Her attitude toward him had changed some time ago, and although Kato Dan had been trying to mend their relationship, his efforts had yielded no results. Each time he got close, she would push him away—sometimes with a punch. This mission was the only reason she resisted the urge to hit him now.
"Tsunade, I need to know why," Kato Dan said, his frustration showing. Why had she suddenly become so distant when they'd been so close to becoming a couple? As far as he knew, he'd done nothing wrong.
"Why?" Tsunade retorted. "Kato Dan, choose your words carefully. Do I owe you an explanation?"
With that, she walked directly toward Reiki and the others. Staying near Kato Dan any longer, she feared she'd lose control and seriously injure him. His behavior almost made her feel like she was the one in the wrong—if she hadn't seen what she'd seen in his memories, she might even believe it.
"Dan…"
"Master Kato."
Before Kato Dan could respond, Minato appeared beside him.
"Minato? What's up?" Kato Dan asked, surprised. The two weren't particularly close.
"There's probably some misunderstanding between you and Tsunade-sama," Minato said with a friendly smile. "I know the type—my girlfriend's the same way. When something's wrong, she won't listen to reason. Getting hit is just part of the package; you get used to it."
Hearing Minato's words, Kato Dan looked embarrassed. It seemed his story was becoming village gossip.
"Yeah, I get it," Kato Dan sighed. "But here's the problem: I want her to hit me, but now she won't even talk to me."
"You want to be beaten by me?"
Tsunade appeared before them, her expression unreadable.
"Uh, I… Tsunade, are you willing to talk to me?" Kato Dan stammered.
*Bam, bam, bam…*
Before he could finish, Tsunade's fist landed with force. The ninjas around them turned away, cringing. The sight was brutal. Even Minato quietly took a step back, afraid of getting caught in the crossfire.
After a few minutes, Tsunade stormed off, leaving Kato Dan embedded in the ground, barely able to move.
"Brother Minato, give me a hand pulling him out," Reiki said, grabbing one of Kato's injured legs. "Really, if they want to settle their issues, they should've waited until we were back in the village. I'll treat him, but I can't let my teacher's temper affect the mission."
Minato stepped forward to help as well.
"Don't—"
*Crack*
Before Kato Dan could finish, his leg shifted, making him grimace in pain. Yet he stifled a scream, enduring it with as much composure as he could muster.
