章節 31: Chapter 31 Nine Tails Rebellion, Namikaze Minato's Resolution
Namikaze Minato's question brought Kakashi back to that horrifying night.
That night, he once again lost the only source of emotional support he had left. Since then, he had been living in a daze. It wasn't until he left the Anbu that things began to change.
Those unbearable memories made Kakashi pause for a few seconds. He slowly calmed himself and looked at Namikaze Minato with a deeply emotional expression.
"Minato-sensei, the deaths of you and Lady Kushina happened on the night she gave birth. That night, you were attacked by an unknown enemy. This enemy took advantage of Lady Kushina's weakened state after childbirth and extracted the Nine Tails from her. The Nine Tails then attacked Konoha, causing the Nine Tails Rebellion."
Kakashi took a breath before continuing, "Afterwards, there were traces of the Nine Tails being controlled by a Sharingan, which led to suspicion that the attacker was a member of the Uchiha clan. At the time, I was too young to participate, so I don't know all the details. But the end result was that you sacrificed yourself to seal the Nine Tails inside your son, Naruto, at the cost of your life. Both you and Lady Kushina died in that battle. Konoha suffered heavy losses, and many ninja died. That's all I know."
Kakashi finished explaining the Nine Tails Rebellion briefly, as he hadn't known much about it himself.
"N-Nine Tails... Uchiha..."
Namikaze Minato murmured thoughtfully, starting to piece together the situation. He now knew about his son, Naruto.
But Minato found himself caught in a dilemma. Should he really change the future? If he did, both Naruto's and Kakashi's futures would also change. Would that mean the Kakashi and Naruto from the future would cease to exist?
'No… I still have memories of this, don't I?' Minato thought, his mind racing. 'That means the future hasn't changed drastically. And the information Kakashi has brought should have appeared in the timeline. But what about Obito's fate?'
Namikaze Minato's head began to ache. This paradox of time travel left him utterly confused. He wasn't sure how to handle the situation.
"Minato-sensei, that's all I wanted to say. Please, change these events so these tragedies won't happen again. Please..."
Kakashi bowed deeply, his voice pleading, as he saw Minato's confused expression.
At the same time, Kakashi dispelled the Sharingan's illusion, withdrawing its power. The illusionary space had become a huge burden for him.
As for the defection of Orochimaru and the Uchiha Clan's massacre, Kakashi chose not to reveal those details. There were too many secrets involved, things hidden from even him. During his years in the Anbu, he had witnessed enough darkness.
"Sensei, I leave it all to you now."
Kakashi smiled sincerely at Namikaze Minato as he jumped off the rock, turning to catch up with Obito and Rin.
If today were to be his last day as the Kakashi he knew, then he would accept it.
Kakashi smiled, feeling light-hearted, and ran after Obito and Rin.
"Rin, I actually..."
Obito started, as he tried to confess his feelings to Rin. But just as the moment grew tense, Kakashi appeared beside them, his usual unlucky timing turning the scene from intimate to awkward.
In an instant, the atmosphere turned into Obito and Kakashi bickering, with Rin laughing happily beside them, her voice ringing like silver bells.
At that moment, Kakashi let go of everything. It felt like he had returned to his younger self—the arrogant genius who lived freely, full of youthful energy.
"Kakashi... Obito... Rin..."
Namikaze Minato sat alone on the boulder, watching his three disciples from afar, his eyes filled with a complicated mix of emotions.
"Kakashi... Even you have come to understand self-sacrifice. How can I, as your teacher, fall behind?"
He let out a long sigh, his earlier worries melting away. Determined, he declared, "This time, I will give it my all. I will change our destinies. But I won't let you disappear, Kakashi."
The next day arrived quickly.
Under Namikaze Minato's deliberate arrangements, the four of them traveled leisurely back towards the village, enjoying their journey as if they were merely sightseeing. Kakashi understood Minato's intentions, savoring these precious moments.
But good times never last long, and the time to say goodbye soon came.
"Minato-sensei, I leave everything in your hands. Thank you... for the brief but happy time you gave me."
Kakashi, walking behind Obito and Rin, slowed his pace, falling a few steps behind. With a soft sigh, he spoke to Namikaze Minato.
"Are you leaving? Kakashi, don't worry. I'll do everything you've asked me to. I promise..."
Minato paused, glancing at Kakashi, who wore a familiar expression. There was a hint of reluctance in Minato's eyes, but he nodded, though his heart felt heavy.
"Mm..."
Kakashi smiled warmly and activated his Sharingan. In an instant, he poured all of its power into casting an illusion on himself, planting a psychological suggestion deep within.
After a few moments, Kakashi, who had been walking normally, suddenly stopped in his tracks and froze. Memories of the day began to surface in his mind...
In young Kakashi's memory, he and Obito successfully rescued Rin after a thrilling battle. Obito had awakened his Sharingan, and just as they were surrounded by Rock Shinobi, Namikaze Minato arrived at the last moment and swiftly dealt with their enemies.
Yet, for some reason, the young Kakashi always carried a deep sense of powerlessness. It made him eager to continue improving his strength.
"Kakashi, let's go..."
Suddenly, Namikaze Minato's voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
"Oh, coming!"
The younger Kakashi shook off the complicated emotions weighing on him and quickly ran to catch up.
However, he didn't notice the brief flicker of silence in Namikaze Minato's eyes...
