Number 2 and 3.
Two random ninjas had done something unforgivable.
It was betrayal.
Served cold.
2 was now fighting 1, who was already having troubles with the enemies as 3 attacked me.
Just as I tried dodging as I activated the bird seal, I saw that the clan leader was attacking me as well.
3 was able to reach me however, attacking my face, or rather nerves near my eyes.
I wasn't able to dodge the sword however in hands of clan leader.
The shining blade struck down and a big cut got on me.
As I quickly retreated as I tried to activate my Byakugan again but my eyes were hurting horribly.
I kept dodging all the attacks that the duo were trying to inflict on me all the while my eyes felt like there was an internal itch inside it, refusing to activate byakugan.
I forcefully activated them, making my vision 360 degrees but with redness, allowing me start dodging more attacks and finally having enough room to activate the bird seal.
I successfully activated the bird seal and 2 and 3 clutched their heads in intense pain as leader kept on attacking my head, not noticing the screaming.
I instantly outmaneuvered him and started using gentle fist as I slowly struck many tenketsu points and was able to paralyze him quickly, using enough chakra to keep him bound for the moment as I went ahead and pierced his head with a kunai through his eyes as I pushed it inside completely.
I had killed him finally.
I increased the chakra towards the 2 and 3's bird seals as their intensity of screaming increased, making their lungs bleed.
"PLEASE STOP THE PAIN! PLEASE STOP THE PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 2 and 3 screamed, which was my cue to increase the chakra output, making the seal work even more.
"How dare you speak in my presence. Scream in agony." I said as I slowly got up from the clan leader's dead body, still very much alert as I carefully killed the two screaming ninjas.
My vigilance levels would stay very high now.
The betrayal which I didn't expect...
It would've claimed my life if I was not thorough with my actions.
"Are you alright, Tobirama?" I asked as I saw him a couple of his own ninjas.
After around 2 minutes of battle, he also beat them up, only ending with a couple of heavy wounds.
"I am fine." He said as he started tending his wounds.
"It was a shameful display from both our sides." I said as I started to tend to my own wounds, still not deactivating my Byakugan.
"It was." He said.
"I hope you recover properly. The temporary alliance between us disbands now." I said as I went ahead and gathered my troops to leave.
...
(3rd POV)
The wounds were still very fresh on both the clans.
Especially Junichiro.
The wounds on his bodies were...definitely leaving a scar.
The nerves along his eyes were also not going away and the Byakugan was still active, draining his chakra.
The giant scar that ran from his traps to his V-cut also needed immediate care which wasn't really available as the doctors were killed in the fight.
Only the temporary solution was there.
He tied his wounds with a sewing kit, used healing cream on it and hope he didn't die from bloodloss.
2 goals were registered in his mind right now.
Healing and escaping.
He needed them on priority.
The importance of these abilities and the pride of a genius were gone now.
He was back like he always used to be.
More careful than ever.
Otafuku Gai would now receive another batch of Hyugas, with a better working principles as well as more security and control over them so that the betrayal actions do not happen.
In total 6 ninjas betrayed the group , shaving down the 40 ninjas to just 21 ninjas left.
4 of them were heavily injured as rest of them sustained light injuries.
On paper it was a victory but in reality?
A loss.
A wound rubbed with salt, black pepper, thyme and lemon, braised to medium rare and served in a cold porcelain dish along with a glass of wine.
The outcome of today was inevitable.
The taste of betrayal was as bitter as it gets.
The camp was made for the night and guards for today were 1 and Junichiro.
The Hyugas rested easy as they knew the strength of the ninjas.
"1...Kill the ninjas that came with us. All of them." Junichiro said with tears in his eyes yet they remained ever so calm
1 was already stressed a lot and this time, he couldn't believe his own ears.
"Y-yes.." he said, not disobeying the order, as he slaughtered the asleep Hyugas, making them sleep forever, now.
The details of missions and the mark of failure from Junichiro's face was now gone.
Peddlers? They wouldn't dare utter a word. It was one of them who betrayed their master, they so eagerly followed. They were even more suspicious of each other. A few of them were contemplating the situation as their masters' image was blackened for them but they never expressed it nor they could ever.
The path they had chosen, ended with compulsory death. However, they didn't need to know it.
Blissful ignorance.
After coming back to Hyuga clan's HQ, they immediately got healed and shared the situation of Otafuku Gai, making up the stories of their death.
After a couple of days passed as Junichiro was healed back to health, he started investing in healing and escaping techniques by assembling a few jonins and making them research for him.
The logic behind asking them to do it was simple.
He would just need to observe their research and apply it in his own way to realize them into a more effective version of themselves, saving more time and energy as well criticism of a few jonins.
Now...
For the next month, he would work on restructuring the peddlers base.
The trauma was more than enough for him to wise up.
While the celebration for the legendary victory was being held, Junichiro caved inside his room as he dug past ancient documents, scouring them for a solution for the current problem as he thought about it calmly.
His work ethic had improved. His drive had improved.
...The darkness in his heart had also improved.
