"We…. we were paid," he answered.
"You were hired to kill my mother?" she asked with a incredulous look.
He nodded.
"Who hired you?" she questioned.
"I-I don't know…" Ji Chenglang swayed his head.
BAM!
Another punch landed on his face causing him fall back onto the ground. Clutching his collar, she hauled him back onto his knees. "WHO HIRED YOU?" she asked fiercely.
Ji Chenglang shook his head fearfully. He didn't know anything about the person who hired him. He just knew one thing about that man that he was a vicious person with mighty strength.
"Damn it!" Su Yanruo yelled kicking him in his stomach. Who was this mastermind? Who wanted to kill her mother? Why?
As far as she knew, her mother was the purest person in this whole world. She was an innocent, lovely and peaceful person. She was nothing like them. But the only mistake she made in her life was to fall in love with her father. Maybe this is the reason why she was killed. This mastermind might have a grudge with her father, and he took it out on her mother.
But who can that be? Is it someone from the Rongs?
Her eyes narrowed down into a dangerous arc when she suddenly thought of a person. Glancing back at Ji Chenglang, she asked, "That person that hired you….. does he wear a green mask and black cloak?"
Ji Chenglang was stunned. For a moment, he didn't know what to say. Bobbing his head fiercely, he agreed, "Yes."
"But how did you know?"
"That's none of your business," she snapped. Clutching the dagger, she walked closer to him. "It was nice meeting you Ji Chenglang. Hope you rot in hell," she smiled placing the dagger onto his neck.
"W-wait," he said not daring to make the slightest movement. One wrong move from him and his throat would be cut open.
"What? Wanna say your dying wish?" she mocked.
"NO! No…. I didn't kill your mother. Please don't kill me," he begged.
Su Yanruo glared at him. Pressing the dagger against his neck, she spat, "You were a part of that murder."
"B-But…"
"Shut up!" she rebuked.
Color drained from his face, as white as a ghost, he was rooted to the spot, frozen with cold sweats covering his entire back. Just the mere thought of death made him unable to speak or think anything. His entire body went numb that he couldn't even feel the pain in his knees when he realized his end was near. He was going to die under her hands.
He didn't want to die. He wanted to live. When this reality kicked in, he started moving his hand to get out from his restraints but nothing worked. His hands were secured so tightly that he wasn't able to move them or open them. He knew he had to do something quick so he tried negotiating with her. "Miss Rose, p-please don't kill me. I am your only way to find the other two guys," he said.
"Oh really?" she arched her brows.
Ji Chenglang nodded sincerely. "If you let me, go then I will take you to the other two people."
Su Yanruo laughed at his stupidity. Clutching his hair, she hauled it back and his face tilted up towards her. "If I can find you then I am sure that I can find them too," she sneered.
"No! Miss Rose, I….." he tried to explain, but she didn't give him any more chance to speak. She got the information that she needed, and her job here was done.
Seizing the dagger, she jerked it back a little and plunged it deep into his neck right into the position of his jugular vein. In an instant, his mouth went wide with a slight gasp leaving his lips, his eyes wide with shock, and fell onto the ground; dead.
"Enjoy a happy journey to hell," she said, withdrawing the dagger from his neck. A think amount of blood started gushing out from his open gaping hole in the neck, some of it squirted all over her.
Clasping his wrist, she quickly carved a small rose in his hand as a symbol of her kills. After her job was done, she gave out a satisfied smile and after cleaning her dagger onto his clothes, she got up. Walking into the adjacent washroom, she washed away all the drops of blood on her face and dress.
Giving one last look at his corpse, she turned away and left the room to go and look for Xia Ming. She came across two, three hallways but she did not find Xia Ming there. She looked for in all the places that she knew but there was not even a single shadow of Xia Ming there.
Worried for her, she came over to the deck to look for her when suddenly she saw fiery clouds beginning to roll in. It was very frequent in these kinds of weather for a sudden storm to appear with no warnings. Total darkness began prevailing as the cloud thickened and the sky was stricken, blotting out the moonlight and the stars. The wind arose to push the still water too turbulent; which morphed into a mountain of raging waves.
Su Yanruo stayed still at her place as she glanced at the tumultuous waves and fierce winds. This again reminded her of that day, and she found herself slipping into another hallucination. Her breathing started faltering, sometimes becoming more rapid, more shallow. A panic of helplessness began like a cluster of sparks plugs in her abdomen. Tension grew on her face and her limbs, her mind replaying that incident once again.
Just when she thought there was no hope, a muscular arm gripped her waist and pulled her back. She collided onto a firm chest, as she felt the person snake his arms around and steadied her.
"Breathe," he instructed in a low voice. "Breathe in my love, my love." he chuckled nibbling onto her ear.
