章節 35: Are you worthy?
That evening, as per the plan made by Xia Ming, Su Yanruo dressed in a pretty white knee-length dress with a big bow design covering her chest. She let her hair loose in simple waterfall curls and wore a white mask with big rose flower mesh attached to it. Everything about her screamed innocence and purity.
"I hate the way I look right now," she commented glancing at herself in the mirror. White was her least favorite color and dressing up like this she looked like a damsel in distress which she was not.
"You may not like it, but our birthday birdie would," Xia Ming chuckled wearing a gold and red mask on her face complimenting her tight-fitted sparkly red dress.
"Whatever," Su Yanruo groaned. "Let's just get this over with."
Xia Ming nodded. "Let's go."
Getting out of their room, Xia Ming and Su Yanruo went straight to the party. It was held inside the same club but this time it was lavishly decorated. Inside the club, it was like dancing on the northern lights with arrays of blues, acid green, hot pink, and gold. If the dance floor could speak then, it would be a tale of enlivened souls. The music played over the dance floor as if it was fused with the bodies.
"The party is certainly a lot livelier tonight," Xia Ming commented sipping on her glass of champagne.
"Yep," Su Yanruo agreed, "But, I can't see to find any guy that can be Ji Chenglang," she mused while scanning through the whole club. All she could see was rich people partying wildly.
"Who comes early to their party," Xia Ming shrugged. "Here, drink this and chill…" she said, giving a glass of red wine.
"By the way, is my future brother-in-law here at this party?" Xia Ming asked with a teasing smile.
Su Yanruo glared at her.
"What?" Xia Ming was amused. "I am just curious. I still don't know how he looks like," she explained.
"Horrible," Su Yanruo answered taking another sip of her drink.
Xia Ming laughed, "Horrible or not, I'll know when I see him."
"Concentrate, Xia Ming…."
"On who? My future brother-in-law?" Xia Ming teased.
"Oh! Please, Xia Ming.... stop it, already." Su Yanruo grumbled.
Seeing she was getting angry, Xia Ming stopped. Raising her hand in surrender, she said, "Calm down. I'll stop teasing you."
"Hmmm," Su Yanruo nodded. Taking a sip of her drink, she sighed. Just the mere mention of that guy is enough to ruin her mood. He better not dangle in front of her eyes today. Just as she was looking at some random dancing, an idea struck her mind.
"Xia Ming, I just had an amazing idea," Su Yanruo said looking at the glass of red wine in her hand.
"Me too," Xia Ming agreed with her, looking at the same glass of red wine.
"I think instead of waiting for that pervert, we should make the first move," she explained. "Were you thinking the same thing?" she asked.
Su Yanruo nodded. Stylishly moving the glass, she smirked, "And this red wine would help us a lot."
"Great minds think alike," Xia Ming winked. Grabbing Su Yanruo's hand, she beamed with excitement. "Let's go."
Coming towards a big and deserted hallway with bright lights, they stopped. Only with a single turn and walking a little bit further, there would be room and that room was Ji Chenglang's luxurious suit. Yesterday, while looking out for information about this guy, Xia Ming came to know about this room.
"Xiaoruo, let's wait here. When that rat comes then we will start with our plan," she said.
Su Yanruo nodded.
Fifteen minutes later, they heard some slow footsteps coming right towards their hallway and they immediately knew it would be Ji Chenglang and his arm candy. Knowing it was time for their action, they got into their positions. For this drama, Xia Ming was playing the part of a spoiled rich step-sister while she was the damsel in distress.
"1...2…..3…..Here, I go," Xia Ming smirked. Taking the glass of red wine in her hand, she threw it all over Su Yanruo's dress.
"Elder sister, why did you do this?" Su Yanruo cried out. Her big eyes were filled with water and her entire body started quivering with fear.
"Who told you to wear this dress?" Xia Ming fumed.
"Elder sister, I-I… that…"
"Don't you dare call me your sister. I am not your elder sister." Xia Ming snarled. Grabbing Su Yanruo's arm, she hissed loudly, "You are just our servant. Do not forget your position."
"He's here," she whispered in a low voice when she saw Ji Chenglang standing at one corner of the hallway and watching the whole show.
Su Yanruo nodded and immediately big tears started falling down her cheeks.
"Now, tell me why you didn't wear the dress that I gave you?" Xia Ming roared.
Su Yanruo took a big step back in fear. Her state, her look, and her demeanor was perfect to arouse any man's protective instinct.
"That dress was too revealing," Su Yanruo said in a low inaudible voice.
Xia Ming frowned impatiently. "What did you just say? Speak louder!"
Su Yanruo jumped up on her spot in fright. "That dress was too revealing," she spoke with a trembling voice.
"Revealing?" Xia Ming scoffed. "But isn't that what you like the most?" she sneered. "All day, all night, you seduce men with that sweet innocent face."
"No, I-I…. I am not…."
"No?" Xia Ming laughed. "Your mother did the same thing with my father. And today, I am giving you the same chance."
"No, you are selling me to that old man," Su Yanruo wailed in desperation.
"Selling you? Are you worthy?" Xia Ming mocked. "We are gifting you to that old man." she laughed.
"Come, let's change you into that sexy little number," Xia Ming smirked grabbing Su Yanruo's arm, she started dragging her away.
"NO!" Su Yanruo cried desperately struggling against her grip.
"Stop struggling!" Xia Ming yelled loudly and started pulling her away.
Su Yanruo cried. Twisting and turning her arm, she freed herself from Xia Ming's grip. Using all of her strength, she pushed Xia Ming away.
"How dare you push me! You ungrateful little witch!!" Xia Ming yelled, moving forward to catch Su Yanruo but all she could lay her hands on was the white mask on Su Yanruo's face.
